  1. That looks pretty cool. hope theres a 400/800 version that will work from disk. My first question at this point is which antic mode does your game use, and why did u choose that mode?
  2. Uhm actually thats a pretty good game idea - nice simple and clean. Can you imagine how much $ you would make if you came out with a polished assembly language version of this in 1981?
  3. Any suggestions on which printer to get? Most common one seems to be the 1025 on ebay. Saw a XMsomething (?) once. Probably wont be used a whole lot, just for hardcopies of Assembly language programs. Reliability and speed important.
  4. thanks guys thats some great information. I'll be getting a printer on ebay seems like 1025 is the most common one. most likely ill get the transfer cable too (SIO2PC) thanks for link to mac65 B&C only has a few DOS available 2.5 is pretty cheap at $10 including manual but this sounds like last choice. As I recall they did have Sparta.
  5. Got an old Atari 800, just set it up. Need suggestions on which DOS I should get (mydos, sparta, dos 2.5, others )? Which printers can I hook up to the 800 without a seperate interface? Any suggestions where I could get a hold of mac65 assembler + toolkit? I dont currently have a method of transfering files from PC to Atari so atm need these on atari readable disk. B&C didnt have this. Plan to use it for a little 6502 programming. Currently have the atari assemblereditor.
  6. Read "hackers" (well favorite parts anyway) again, and started thinking about my first computer an old atari 400. Next thing I knew I was looking at ebay at all the 8 bit stuff for sale. Finally got lucky and found a guy selling a system on comp.sys.atari.8bit - an 800 with 1050 drive, monitor and some software. better yet he lives close enough to coordinate delivery. all for 40 bucks! Got De Re Atari and assemed cartridge from B&C (was that weird, opening an old cartridge package still in shrinkwrap). Printed out parts of atari roots from one of the sites. Man I'm in deep trouble... hehe I was never able to really crack that old 400. only had basic and a data cassette. sold it a year or 2 later (1984?) shortly later a friend talked me into getting an Apple IIe. learned the basics of 6502 assembly on the Apple, though never became proficient. So, recently I thought it would be interesting to take up the challenge again and even more so on an Atari. Things like DLI, VBI, and IRQs add a level of complexity that I didnt find on the Apple. (like 6502 coding isnt complex enough) Anyway I'm looking for a few more items: Mac65 assembler + toolkit dont really have a way to transfer this from PC to 8bit, anyone know where I can get on atari disk or cart? Any of the atari printers NOT require a seperate interface when used with the 800? Happy drive upgrade for 1050 recommended or not? Source code for the OS? couldnt find this Source code for Eastern Front. Found this on a site, but again no way to transfer to 8bit. like to buy a disk containing it - havent found it yet.
