So Chart45 isn't crazy... ADAM plays SGM games sans SGM!

No way the lm386 puts out 10 watts... That circuit would work good I think. adjust the pot for best output then measure the value and replace it with fixed resistors. -

I could make a schematic for this no problem. I will when I get sometime. A LM386 comes to mind as a quick easy amp to use. Never mind I see someone above linked to an ebay auction for one.. Exactly like I would have designed. -

I am happy to announce the SGM compatible Speech Game Module is shipping. The first handful of units will ship this week to the individuals who have been so generous to help and fund the project. I will offer 2-3 special editions on Ebay this week. Maybe I will make them with custom aluminum cases or something that makes them unique. The remaining units I will offer to the AA group as first come first shipped. Keep in mind that shortly the game Bezerk will be released that takes advantage of the Speech Game Module sometime soon and also another game that uses it within 10-21 days hopefully. Thanks for the support.

I'd start with getting the logic board working first myself. If you get it playing blind it makes getting the crt to work easier. You can see the game work on your O-scope with the logic board working. If your scope has XY mode.
-
Hook everything back up. Are you getting sound and game play, but no picture or is it completely dead? If it's completely dead then use your O-scope and check for a clock to the 6809. If the clock is good then check Ay-3-8912. I have seen that go bad more then once and cause a dead unit. If it plays blind and has high voltage then it's probably the 4066 or op amps on the logic board (Check the signals with your o-scope). If it does not have high voltage then it's probably the 555 or the hot transistor.
-
Why do you have the logic board disconnected? If you truly want to fix this you need tools like an oscilloscope otherwise your just going to be doing a shotgun repair and probably cause more damage then good.
-
I highly doubt your crt is bad. Your high voltage is likely the problem. Things to check - Power supply volatges, 555 timer, High voltage transistor.

Brand new CV JUICEBOX Backward compatible with SGM
juice2839 replied to juice2839's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Are you talking about the CV motherboard replacement? If so that's in the works. Just ironing out some details. Otherwise I am not sure what you mean by RGB board. -
Yes I agree. Richard did an amazing pcb design for this.
-
Maybe someone will make a better version that is more like the arcade and uses real speech instead of samples.
-
I can't wait to play Berzerk with one..

Final revision of the Say Game Module. This is the finished product. I am just waiting for the Speech Synth IC's to Arrive.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up.

Brand new CV JUICEBOX Backward compatible with SGM

This is coming. We are working out a few more details, but hope to have these out soon. I've been working on the SGM clone first to help finance this new motherboard. -
This doesn't emulate the Z-80, just the 32K Rom space. I guess if you put some interrupt routines in the CV bios you could load some stuff in an area of the 32K Rom space (Which is now 32k battery backed ram using this device) and have the NANO send the info serially to a PC to look at.. Very interesting Idea. Edit: You would also though have to halt the Z80 when you were doing reads from the ram so a little extra circuity would be needed, but I don't think it would be anything major.

The difference between the 8912A and 8912 is the A does not have internal pull up resistors on the output port. I'm not sure if this makes a difference with the vectrex.

New run of Intellivision RGB kits and Say Game Module's on the way.
