Atari Jaguar: Strange Video & Audio Problems
LynxJagLunatic replied to jt505001's topic in Atari Jaguar
Sorry I don't have a solution for you but I do remember a similar issue with the first Jaguar I bought in 1994. I had to return it twice due to lack of sound on my first unit and bad video and sound on my second. The store clerk told me the first few shipments of the Jaguar they received were faulty. I wounder if there were more faulty units that made it out. The stock RF had lots of issues. After 4 replacements I finally sprung for some A/V cables. Good luck and hope you get it working. -
Why is the Jaguar so popular right now?
LynxJagLunatic replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Atari Jaguar
Now would be a great time to cash in and collect on Jaguar stuff. I've been thinking about selling mine but then I change mind a few minutes later. I think the reason the Jaguar is so hot right now is curiosity. It seems like from the first day I bought my Jag in April of 1994 all I've heard was how crappy the system was and how the games were the worst. With years of negative press I think people got curious to see if the system was really that bad. Also with such great homebrew games having been produced over the years now is the best time to jump into the Jaguar scene. I'm glad to see more people enjoying the system. Just my two cents. -
I wanted 720 and Vindicators so bad on the Lynx.

Does Primal Rage really need to be on a CD?
LynxJagLunatic replied to 82-T/A's topic in Atari Jaguar
I would have preferred a cartridge version since the load times on the game are horrid. They probably needed more games to release on CD so this was probably done for that reason. Good game though and my favorite fighter on the system. -
My first experience was a bad one. I got really sick after about a half hour of playing it. Think it might have strained my eyes or something. Once I was able to adjust my eyes to it I never had a problem. It is a decent game for its time.

Nice collection.

Are there any videos of championship rally gameplay?
LynxJagLunatic replied to sirlynxalot's topic in Atari Lynx
It looks really fun. How does it compare to Checkered Flag? -
The FMV was really good in my opinion. Iron Soldier II and World Tour Racing being my favorite.

One of the most comfortable controllers that I've used. I think people hate it because they were told to hate it. How many times have we heard the Jaguar was the worst console of all time with the worst games? Those who've played and owned a Jaguar love it. Just my two cents.

WIP Game for 7800: Dream Princess Adventure
LynxJagLunatic replied to gorfcadet's topic in Atari 7800
Looks really good. Keep up the good work. -
I remember buying Club Drive, Fight for Life and NBA Jam CIB for $2 each. Those were the last 3 Jag games they had. Wish they would have had more.

For me its between Touchdown Football or Real Sports Baseball.

Got my first Lynx in 1991 from a mom and pop game store in my town but traded it in after I became a Nintendo Gameboy fanboy for a few years.. I got my second Lynx from Video Game Liquidators in Early 2001.

I've never played Fever Pitch so Sensible Soccer wins by default. Would love to pick up the game at some point.

The Jaguar STINKS. And DOOM. That stinks, too.
LynxJagLunatic replied to sh3-rg's topic in Atari Jaguar
The first reasonable price I've seen on Jaguar stuff over the last few years stink or not. -
Sorry my bad. Figured it was known by now. Forget I said anything.
-
I've always love the game. Thought it was a great pack in. Best part for me is when you unlock Smells Like Teen Spirit.

What's wrong with Trevor Mcfur and the Crescent Galaxy? !?!?
LynxJagLunatic replied to Scorponok's topic in Atari Jaguar
I remember wanting this game so bad when I saw the screenshots. It's not the worst in the Jag library but it's not very good either. -
Could Road Rash (3DO) be ported to the Jaguar?
LynxJagLunatic replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Atari Jaguar
Not sure if this would work on a cartridge due to space limitations but on the Jad CD I think this game would be duable. -
Dreamers' corner: Did Jaguar show full potential, or not?
LynxJagLunatic replied to Atlantis's topic in Atari Jaguar
From a commercial standpoint I think the Jaguar failed to live up to it's full potential but from a personal standpoint the Jaguar has lived up to my expectations. I bought my Jaguar in April of 1994 and my Jag CD in 1999 and these devices are amungst my prised possesions. While the Jaguar's library is not very large the selection of games are some of the most unique games you'll find on other console. -
Atari always seemed to have the most unique games on their platforms and the Jaguar had some of the most unique games ever IMO. It's this plus my love of the Atari brand that keeps me hooked. Of all the consoles I've owned the Lynx and the Jaguar will always be my favorites. Thanks to all those in the Homebrew scene who have kept the Jag alive 20 years after it's demise. The Jaguar is proof that cats do have 9 lives.

Is it possible to actually become good at Checkered Flag?
LynxJagLunatic replied to sirlynxalot's topic in Atari Jaguar
If you really want to have fun with Checkered Flag trying doing what I've done. Play free practice without drones in manual transmission. Stay in 1st gear through the whole race and the control will be perfect and you won't spin out. If you try this in tournament mode you won't win any races but in free practice its pretty fun. It was great seeing all the tracks again and not spinning out and crashing constantly. Once you go into 2nd gear the control issues come back. I've found this is the only way for me to have fun in the game. -
It's sad the retro game craze and price inflation has taken the fun out of collecting for me.. I used to love being able to pick up a Jag game that I couldn't afford when it was released. I'm 10 games away from a complete collection but the games I need are priced way beyond what I'm willing to pay. Props to those who can afford these prices but I've been taken out of the collecting game.
-
If you can afford it I say get one. I got my Jag CD before the retro boom occurred but I could never afford one now. Is it worth it? Of the official released games there are maybe 3 games that I think are good. The homebrew games are the main reason for owning the Jag CD IMO so yes it is worth it and I could not imagine having a Jaguar without the Jag CD.

That's a good deal. I haven't seen a deal on Jag stuff that good in a while.
