  1. Speaking of Lightgun games for the XE, can anyone please tell me just how many games are available for it? I have only 2 carts that I can use it with: Bug Hunt & Barnyard Blaster. I know of a couple of other ones but that's it. Can anyone list them all?

    Thanks in advance :)

  2. vanman:

what do you mean "Double Density"

The easiest way to spot the difference is by looking at the disk - if it has one hole at the corner of the disk than it is a Double Density (DD) disk, & if it has two holes (one at each end/corner) than it is a High Density (HD) disk.

  3. OVERLANDER :!: I can't believe I forgot to mention this one! This has to have occupied the top car game position for me for quite some time. It's one of my 3 favourite games from the Power Pack (anyone remember this Killer compilation?) along with Black Lamp & Gauntlet II (ahh, Gauntlet II - the reason for purchasing my Atari ST  ).

    Wrathchild:

I tried getting into Overlander recently, but its just too hard!

The highlight of this game was clocking it once with NO cheats, well worth the effort if you like these tyope of games.

  4. V.R.,

So far I have paid with either:

PayPal (using my VISA Debit card)

By phone (using my credit card)

Western Union Money Order (available at any Post office)

I suggest you get yourself a VISA Debit card from your bank if you can. It only allows you to use funds in your savings account - NO credit - only what you have in there. This is a lot easier to get and allows you to make purchases over the net, ph, etc. The best feature of it is that it won't get you into trouble ie. debt.

I've had to learn the hard way with credit cards - they keep offering me credit increases and I keep finding great Jag stuff on eBay - theres no way to win

As for Australian bank cheques I don't know about them, cause I've had no experience with them. Always check beforehand if you wish to purchase with that over eBay by contacting the seller before you bid. As for retailers (shops) overseas, you can always find out directly from them before you buy.

Otherwise you can use Western Union money orders, but beware, some eBay sellers do not accept them.

    Good luck!

  5. Do you remember the thrill of playing multiplayer/link-up games in the times when it was a rare thing? I loved playing all the multiplayer games that I have on the ST and was wondering if anyone knows just which games are available/have been made for it. I have and know of some, but am hoping to find others from you guys in Atari Land.

I am primarily talking about either link-up games (via the RS-232 or MIDI ports), 4 player games (via printer port adaptor) and split-screen games (like Bloodwych).

4 Player games (via printer port 4-Player adaptor):

    Gauntlet II

    Leathernecks

    ST Soccer

    Split-screen games:

    Bloodwych

    Bloodwych Data Disc

    Crackdown

    Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge

    Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge II

    Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge III

    MIDI games:

    Midi Maze

    Midi Maze II

    RS-232 games:

    Battlechess

    Colossus Chess X

    F16 Combat Pilot

    Falcon

    Flight of the Intruder

    Flight Simulator II

    Jet

    Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge II

    Populous

    Powerdrome

    Prince

    RVF Honda

    Stunt Car Racer

    Vroom

So my question is this: are there any other games that belong in any of the above mentioned groups :?: Can anyone add more games to this list?

I know of Dynablaster and that it is a 5 player game, but I'm not sure as to how it's connected. Printer adaptor as well (with someone using the keyboard)?

Also, I belive that Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge III is only split-screen and that they've removed the link-up option. If I'm mistaken then please post correction.

I'm reluctant to buy stuff from overseas.

I was at first as well but then there is no other way to get them. So far, I have ordered from the following:

GoAtari: Fast & reliable - received goods within 7-8 days.

Video Games Liquidators (VGL): also fast and reliable - shipments were usually received within a week.

The rest I have bought from eBay - just check sellers feedback prior to bidding. Hope this helps :D

Good luck if you decide to buy. :)

  7. RPG's are my favourite genre of games (the old-school games like SSI AD&D games of yesteryear) (along with multyplayer/link-up games) but I haven't played Ultima yet. Personally, the best Fantasy Adventure RPG that I have ever played is Wizard's Crown on my trusty ST. I'm still searching for the sequel (The Eternal Dagger) for my 65XEGS but am having a hard time finding it. It only ever seems to come up on eBay when I'm high-bidding on some Jag stuff.

By the way, when I do get it, will it work on the 65XEGS? I know it's for the 800XL but I don't know if it will be compatible, or if I have to get myself another console for a single game. :x

  8. OK, are you ready? Cause this is gonna be a long one. :) The following is a list of all the 8-Bit RPG's that I know of. Most of these are of the Fantasy Adventure genre, but some are Sci-Fi, etc. These are RPG's and not the regular Adventure games like The Dark Crystal, Ulysses and the Golden Fleece, etc. Enjoy.

  9. I hear ya Gunstar

As I've always been a die-hard Atari user myself I have had years of experience with this as well. From 65XEGS  STFM  Lynx  Jaguar, and it has followed me all the way. Here it was always the battle b/w Atari VS Amiga, & Atari always seemed to get the short end of the stick. Too much bias against atari (ESPECIALLY the Jag) from pretty much all the mainstream mags.

Like yourself, I have never regretted owning Atari's. In fact, the feeling of being the underdog made me appreciate Atari even more! While I have also added an Amiga 500 (& XBOX) to my collection, nothing gives me greater joy than when immersing myself in any of my Ataris, esp. the single player games.

I just hope to meet other Jag fans here so as to get together occasionally and experience a mini JagfestOZ, as making it to previous Jagfests overseas is quite difficult when you live at the other end of the world.

Who knows, maybe it will make it here one day (I know, I know, but a man must hold onto he's dreams) :D

  10. I have the feeling that being a Jag collector in Melbourne/Australia is akin to being an endangered species like the Jag itself. Every time I happen to mention it, I get a strange "Have you been taking your medication?" look.

Apart from myself and my close buddy, I have not heard of any other collectors here so I was hoping to hear from any others.

    :ponder:

  11. Unfortunately my forte is fixing people, not machines  but I wouldn't mind having a link to the pic as my friend could do it. Anyhow, I need to get at least one more Jag for networking purposes as I'm dying to check-out BS:G in the near future.

But I think might need to keep an NTSC as I just got Dragons Lair CD and I heard it only works on that format(?) But if I'm converting it to PAL anyway would it still work? (Can't test it out now as I do not have a CD add-on just yet).

  12. Greetings friends :) ,

As this is my first post I would like to begin by saying Hi to all you great guys'n'gals at AA. This is by far the BEST forum that I have come across on the net.

I was just wondering if its possible to network NTSC & PAL Jags together? As I live in Australia (Melbourne) I have an imported U.S. NTSC console which I purchased here when the Jaguar was first released. As such, I have to have an annoying converter attached to the back which modifies it to PAL. I'd like to get a PAL Jag so I can discard with the converter so as to make room for connecting a catbox/scatbox to the back, but I don't know if the different systems will network properly together.

    Does anybody know? :?
