  1. Thanks for the spec info, mechanized, I should be able to run it ok (aaahh... hope... that will keep me going for a while  )
  2. Hello Nubian, I think i've still got a spare (original) disk of Gauntlet II that might work on your 1040STE, i'll try and find it for you. Where did you buy your ST stuff from? Do they have a large selection? I know what you mean about the younger years and copied games. Now, I too prefer to stick only to original games. About my opinion on the top 7 ST games... oh boy!... where to start?! After quite some time of intense contemplation, i would say that, IMHO, the top 7 (or my favourite 7) ST games are: Gauntlet II - an arcade perfect conversion of a great multiplayer game. I have the 4P adaptor that plugs into the back of the printer port providing excellent multiplayer action. Midi Maze II (a Shareware game) - talk about great multiplayer action! You need at least 2 ST's linked-up via midi cables. First person (or should i say, smiley) shooter. I've linked-up 4 ST's and played for HOURS. AWESOME!!! Dungeon Master - the All Time Classic 3D Dungeon RPG/Adventure game. Guaranteed to provide 'missing-time' for months to come. Wizard's Crown - if you like old-school RPG's then your going to love this one. Very, very, in-depth role playing game... stat's galore! Future Wars - an excellent graphic adventure! Great graphics (for its time at least), nice music, good storyline. Definately my favourite 16-bit graphic adventure! Defender of the Crown - Ahh... this game truly brings out the megalomaniac in you! Conquer your enemies with force - kill them with taxes! hahahahahahaha... GODS - my favourite platform game of all time! Nice graphics, involving gameplay, plenty of puzzles, lots of fun! This was one of the first games to truly utilize AI (to good effect). [unfortunately, this is the ONLY game that i prefer to play on the Amiga rather than my ST, the Amiga has many more in-game stereo sound fx - makes a world of a difference!] I hope that helps (as i don't know what type of games you prefer to play) Well... what can i say... Happy Hunting! Btw, where abouts in Australia are you? I'm in Melb. Regards, Serblander
  3. WOW! Planescape: Torment sounds Great!! What platforms is it available on? (hopefully not just for the PC - my one sux )
  4. hehehe... thats the best thing i've seen yet! I just wonder if the kid has learned his lesson, OR... if he's going to be totally pissed and seek revenge???
  5. I hope to God you're wrong, Tempest! The Jaguar was the first games console that I invested in (and paid$ dearly for - Ozie import)... in the end... given up on (commercially) Then I got a Dreamcast (best controllers EVER!!! - IMHO)... in the end... given up on Now, after all this, I buy myself an XBOX (for Halo of course  )... if it fails... AAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!! My only consolation would be playing my girlfriends PS2 (but then I would never hear the end of it )
  6. Nubian! Nooo!!! You can't sell Gauntlet II, that would be... like... sacrilege man! The copy I have works on both my 1040STFM as well as my friend's STE, so perhaps the disks are damaged? Do you have any friends who have an ST to check 'em? All your listed games (save Phasar) came in the Power Pack (the all time kick-arse best ever games pack for ANY system!!!) My friends and I have these games (from the PP) and they work on our ST & STE's (520 & 1040). Are they originals or copies? Many a time, the odd copied game overrides our will to play it Well, I hope you can get them working (and experience the wonder that is Gauntlet II aka, the game that hooked me on Atari!) Good Luck!
  7. You have cash! Well... PayPay cash... Now to endure this damned, eternal-like, international delivery time wait! btw, sorry I haven't posted in ages guys Tried to alienate myself from my beloved Jag (my credit cards' fault.. honest!!! ) i went a little berserk trying to 'update' my Jag collection via ebay (and marlin4's goodies are tempting me into financial damnation!!!) Oh well... here we go again P.S. It's good to be back
  8. Congratulations walter_J64bit I just received mine 2 days ago (from last weeks eBay auction  ) My one didn't come in a box, but in a protective silver pouch. The manual was a print out on A4 paper stapled together. Is this how they usually come You can check-out the pics on the link below: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=3047965853 I also received a small adaptor as seen in the picture (like the one you got walter). Does anyone know what this is for? (I didn't actually have time to read the manual or test the Catbox , as I'm leaving for Europe in TWO HOURS).
  9. Mine is serblander
  10. I've got one complete Battlesphere Gold. I'm also after another copy (just as everyone else), but preferably just the original Battlesphere, so as I can play the game networked (since I've also got one Scatbox Deluxe as well as one Catbox).
  11. To echo Shaggy the Atarian, Happy B'day Carl and many thanks May plenty more good years (and games ) lay ahead. Cheers
  12. JagMX, check your private messages
  13. Thanks for that doncleth, better start writing an early christmas list for Santa (my alterego to myself)
  14. Speaking of Lightgun games for the XE, can anyone please tell me just how many games are available for it? I have only 2 carts that I can use it with: Bug Hunt & Barnyard Blaster. I know of a couple of other ones but that's it. Can anyone list them all? Thanks in advance
  15. vanman: The easiest way to spot the difference is by looking at the disk - if it has one hole at the corner of the disk than it is a Double Density (DD) disk, & if it has two holes (one at each end/corner) than it is a High Density (HD) disk.
  16. OVERLANDER I can't believe I forgot to mention this one! This has to have occupied the top car game position for me for quite some time. It's one of my 3 favourite games from the Power Pack (anyone remember this Killer compilation?) along with Black Lamp & Gauntlet II (ahh, Gauntlet II - the reason for purchasing my Atari ST ). Wrathchild: The highlight of this game was clocking it once with NO cheats, well worth the effort if you like these tyope of games.
  17. Like Sauron, I quite enjoyed the original Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge. The other 2 that had me hooked for ages were Super Cars and Super Off Road Racer - a great little multiplayer!
  18. Nukey Shay: No, we're just under-funded! It costs us one & a half times the U$ amount for all items and 2 and 1/2 times the price of British pounds
  19. V.R., So far I have paid with either: PayPal (using my VISA Debit card) By phone (using my credit card) Western Union Money Order (available at any Post office) I suggest you get yourself a VISA Debit card from your bank if you can. It only allows you to use funds in your savings account - NO credit - only what you have in there. This is a lot easier to get and allows you to make purchases over the net, ph, etc. The best feature of it is that it won't get you into trouble ie. debt. I've had to learn the hard way with credit cards - they keep offering me credit increases and I keep finding great Jag stuff on eBay - theres no way to win As for Australian bank cheques I don't know about them, cause I've had no experience with them. Always check beforehand if you wish to purchase with that over eBay by contacting the seller before you bid. As for retailers (shops) overseas, you can always find out directly from them before you buy. Otherwise you can use Western Union money orders, but beware, some eBay sellers do not accept them. Good luck!
  20. Thanks for that Nukey, now it all makes sense to me
  21. Some other games not mentioned: Bermuda Project Demon's Winter (SSI) Darkmere Pool of Radiance (SSI) Rogue Shadowgate There is also a great list of many Graphic and Text Adventure games printed in ST Action Vol 1 #2 (for any who have it)
  22. Do you remember the thrill of playing multiplayer/link-up games in the times when it was a rare thing? I loved playing all the multiplayer games that I have on the ST and was wondering if anyone knows just which games are available/have been made for it. I have and know of some, but am hoping to find others from you guys in Atari Land. I am primarily talking about either link-up games (via the RS-232 or MIDI ports), 4 player games (via printer port adaptor) and split-screen games (like Bloodwych). 4 Player games (via printer port 4-Player adaptor): Gauntlet II Leathernecks ST Soccer Split-screen games: Bloodwych Bloodwych Data Disc Crackdown Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge II Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge III MIDI games: Midi Maze Midi Maze II RS-232 games: Battlechess Colossus Chess X F16 Combat Pilot Falcon Flight of the Intruder Flight Simulator II Jet Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge II Populous Powerdrome Prince RVF Honda Stunt Car Racer Vroom So my question is this: are there any other games that belong in any of the above mentioned groups Can anyone add more games to this list? I know of Dynablaster and that it is a 5 player game, but I'm not sure as to how it's connected. Printer adaptor as well (with someone using the keyboard)? Also, I belive that Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge III is only split-screen and that they've removed the link-up option. If I'm mistaken then please post correction.
  23. V.R. wrote: I was at first as well but then there is no other way to get them. So far, I have ordered from the following: GoAtari: Fast & reliable - received goods within 7-8 days. Video Games Liquidators (VGL): also fast and reliable - shipments were usually received within a week. The rest I have bought from eBay - just check sellers feedback prior to bidding. Hope this helps Good luck if you decide to buy.
