  1. Ah, it happens so fast that I had trouble even stopped the footage. Nifty.
  2. Cool. What is the thing he does at the 1:17 mark falling off the mesa? I've never been back and forth as much as this guy is. Very cool.
  3. Played several games with no major issue. I can't imagine ever tiring of this game. Haven't been able to beat it through both levels a second time, yet...
  4. i think I like the babies acting as a shield until they drop. Increases the challenge dramatically for me. Otherwise, this quickly becomes a mindless shooter.
  5. Is this headed for a cart release, because I would really like for it to...
  6. Yeah, the old Pac-man game was a great idea, but the execution was miserable. Doesn't mean I didn't use the ghosts and Pac-men in many, many other ways as kid. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for these. Board Games have really improved in the past 20 years, there are some incredible ones out there.
  7. Very exciting. Can't wait to get this on a cart! I've not run into that first unfixable bug, but I hope it's rare as that would be a game ender (particularly on EXPERT). I'll give it a run soon and see if I run into anything worthy of report.
  8. I don't think you ever really 100% know the location of the Wumpus, I think you have to try to narrow it down and then take an educated shot. At least that's how I play it.

    Superman Hack?

I think it was very early on and they were doing the best they could with the resources they had. Much easier to look back and ask these questions than to look forward and prevent them. The map is "sort of" logical in that it is linear from left to right. It's once you start going vertically that you get into a jumble. I wonder if it could be more grid-like to better resemble an actual city?
  10. They have to do that so shops don't order only variants and scant few of the base comic. Shops mark up those variants something crazy, so it would be super crappy even if Diamond didn't do that. But I agree, I missed out on the cosplay Scarlet Witch #10 for the same reason...
  11. I have a Miner 2049er cart that is difficult to insert because of the way the board is mounted. I have to angle it a bit to get it to fit in my 4 switch woody. So there maybe something to that
  12. True, but I bet creating a custom comic to go with a video game is a different animal than publishing a monthly 4 issue mini. Who's to say? One thing is for sure, if issue #1 and 2 of this new series doesn't sell in the high numbers, it is highly unlikely that you'll see an issue #3.
  13. Dr. Chaos (NES). Been a long time coming on this one. Just couldn't get into it, but now I love it.
  14. The original comics would have gotten through all 4 issues because back then Marvel would have commissioned the entire 4 issue mini-series and had it pretty much complete and ready to ship before they released issue #1. You rarely see a 4 issue mini that didn't complete, especially before 1995. Nowadays, if the first three pages don't sell a billion copies they cancel the other 19. The modern entertainment market is too fickle. My main concern is that this is a story about a guy who is down on his luck and decides to turn to crime, so I'm not sure who I am cheering for. Maybe just a good heist story? Just have to wait and see how it goes.
  15. Obvious solution: stop exiting on the right. More Nuanced: There are some unwinnable spawns, I have run into that. I just chalk it up to playing on the hardest game variation, and, as above, I typically do not exit on the sides. I always try to exit at the bottom since Otto spawns wherever you did and it takes him longer to reach the bottom than it does the top.
  16. It's ok. I'm definitely only reading it because I'm an Atari nerd though. I don't think there is much here for the casual comics fan. This is aiming for a very specific audience. This issue is very light on story and is more of set-up than an actual story. I'm hoping for more meat in the next installment. Art is sketchy, but not off-putting. For the most part it seems they have done their homework, but I don't recall an octopus room in SQ:Fireworld, so maybe I need to do some research of my own. (unless they were meant to be playing Waterworld, it wasn't clear). We'll see...
  17. How was it? Won't get my copy until tomorrow
  18. If only they had made that Little Nemo game back in the 20's...
  19. I'm starting to come around to this "guide games" idea. In a world where average "gamers" can't beat LoZ (and games like it) without a guide, my video game prowess is on par with the gods. Plus I'm designated a "know it all gamer." I. Know. It. All. I love it. What other games do you people suck at that I can lord over you on?
  20. There is a guy who tells you how to get through the Lost Woods. There are many other clues built into the game as well if you take the time to explore and find them. The only way you need a guide for LoZ is if you want the game spoon fed to you. If you want to actually play the game and get something out of it, then you never need a guide. I know it will seem like a miracle, but I was able to beat both quests back in the ancient times without a guide of any kind, only the baffling, and oft wrong, clues in the instruction manual. If you need a guide to tell you where to bomb and burn and how to find the secrets, then maybe a Zelda game isn't for you. Back OT to the OP: Start with the first one, screw the guide. Play the game. It's fun, it's rewarding, and you'll feel like you've done something when you beat the first quest. BUT, if you are just playing this to get ideas for a game you want to make, I say don't bother. Just watch a play through or something and then make the game you want to make.
  21. yeah, lack of difficulty is the biggest drawback. I played for 200+ points and the game never got any more challenging. I like the germ sprite.
  22. I spent 5 hours playing AD&D: Hillsfar to see if I could like it... http://electricfrankfurter.blogspot.com/2017/04/the-learning-curve-5-hours-with-ad.html

I never played any of the Silver Box action D&D games.

I really wanted to like it, but it was so clunky it was hard to get into. The Cleric path was much easier, but too little too late...

The only one I really had trouble with was the Thief scenario. There are four different scenarios, but there's no real difference between each class in the game. I wanted to like it, but it should've been so much more than what it ended up being.

  23. I beat Haunted House Game 9 with only two matches and all 9 lives remaining. I've yet to repeat that feat, but that seems pretty good to me. I'm also a BEAST at Fire Fighter. I can win the game in mere seconds...
