Is there a PAL version of Solaris? I think I may have bought one today. How can I tell the difference? I put it in the VCS and turned it on and the screen rolls vertically ever time. I know PAL games screw with American TV's, but then again it may just be a -up game. How do I tell if this is PAL or just screwed?

Then I shall call it "THE Vampire Hunter" Ha! Oh boy

I, too, have noticed the fish's absence. Come back fish!

You're right. My bad. Try this None of these maps are fun to look at. And you have to keep checking the code to understand them. Maybe I'll do one of my own for my website (if I can ever get it put up) after I finish the mapping for Private Eye. just testing the water to see how well done this map was. Thanks Cafeman
-
Actually, I just did some investigating, and DigitalPress has a map on their site here But I'm not thrilled about their version. Maybe your map still lingers about, Cafeman. I'd be interested in seeing it. DigitalPress confirms the 255 screens.

CORRECTION: Kevin Smith ruined GREEN ARROW, not GREEN LANTERN, I have no idea what is going on in GREEN LANTERN. My bad. The trouble with your game Adventure II is that it builds off of the theme of the first game (at least that's what it sounds like). It would be ULTRA-lame if Infogames got their panties in a bunch over it, though. They should be happy that people still like old school Atari after all these years. It will always be Adventure II to me!

Has anyone ever successfully mapped Pitfall!? Is it even possible to map this game, what with all the underground tunnels going god knows where? Does anyone know the screen count from start to finish? Ben? Pitfall! on my mind Stan
-
I was wondering about what you'd say, Ben. I remember your challenge, and it is indeed very hard. Basically you want somebody to go through the thing at least 3 times without a scratch! EEP. But can anyone prove that they did it that way? Besides, I just said this was the "Great" Pitfall II challenge, not the "Ultimate." I leave that title to your challenge for sure. I think both challenges are pretty...well... challenging. I've done it my way before too a long time ago. Now I will try again. I just love finding more ways to play Pitfall II. If you are up to it, Ben, how about once again for old times sake, and this time post your screen shots? Always a gamer, Stan

Perhaps you could post a couple of screenshots and a brief description and take a poll to see who is interested?

Sounds like you're not going to watch? I'll probably have to toggle the 11:00 repeat with Sportscenter to see it, there's a new Buffy on tonight. Couch Potato Stan

Here ye, Here ye. I issue to you, the people a great challenge: So you think you have Pitfall II mastered, eh? You've got your screen shot with your perfect score and everything, right? Well here's an old school challenge from my childhood days to see how good you really are. (this is what we used to do after getting the perfect score) Can you get a perfect score on Pitfall II all three ways? Here are the objectives: 1. Get a perfect score on Pitfall II capturing Quickclaw the Cat LAST. 2. Get a perfect score on Pitfall II capturing Rhonda LAST. 3. Get a perfect score on Pitfall II capturing the Raj Diamond LAST. Post all three screenshots here to win. You can use an emulator or the real deal, it makes no difference, baby! What do you win? Crap, I don't know. I'll think of something. Who among you is brave enough to answer the call? Throwin' down the Gauntlet, Stan

Dude, if it makes you happy, you can draw big yellow smilies on every single one. If you are trying to make your collection look better, no big. (when I was a kid, I put a big Ghostbuster sticker on the label of my Ghostbuster cart ) Trading is where you get into the thick of it. I'd say, if you ever traded any of them, you'd probably want to let people know about the touch-up. Other than that, I say mark away! Wheee! In need of some touch-ups myself, Stan

Just goofin' atari70's! But look at you taking pot shots right back at me! quote: Originally posted by atari70s: anywho, im not that old 18 . THAT old? I'm only 26. Its all good. I'll be watching tonight for your e-mail. By the way, I have sent several e-mails to the show myself, but have never had one on air, nor did I get a reply. Hope you have better luck! No spin Stan

GAH! Night Phantom said the "C" word! Bite your tongue! I see your point, though.(about the copyright stuff) FLASH is supposed to be making a comeback, might be worth looking into if you're a fan. Kevin Smith has pretty much revived and then destroyed the GREEN LANTERN. That comic is a mess. Then again, I find few DC comics worth the cover price. Until Aquaman realizes that talking to fish is NOT a super-power, MAKE MINE MARVEL, baby. True Believer Stan

100% the "wild", baby! And will remain that way. Screw paying upwards of $30 for 25 year old games. Don't get me started on e-bay, Stan

Rock on moycon! There is a secret enclave of people who love and play ET. They are among you, they may even be you. Do not be afraid. I too like ET (somewhat, after 6 hours it wears on a person. Elvis8atari, NEVER, EVER underestimate the power of the Cookie Monster, EVER. I'm serious. EVER. Still high from the Nolan Bushnell thread, Stan

Hey liquid_sky! I do my best, baby! Clever Stan

The principle may be similar, but legally they are different. There is a group that functions independent of Marvel Comics called the Marvel Zombie Society, who write stories using existing Marvel characters (they have a website, methinks?) and they can do that because they are original stories. They do it for the fun of it and make no money and Marvel doesn't touch them. Maybe its just small potatoes to Marvel, but they still haven't taken action. This is what makes me think there is a loophole somewhere. And besides, would you really read some hack story (even if it is good) on a website over buying the real comic? And in favor of buying the Green Lantern and FLASH no less! EEP! Face Front True Believer!
-
True, and I hope you ran a spell check first! Good for you, seriously, for keeping up with world events. Most people your (our?) age probably think the O'Reilly Factor is the new Chuck Norris show.
-
Ah, but you are referring to exact copies of the SAME thing. Not simply the use of a trademarked name, character, or such. i.e. I can write a Spider-man story and post it on a web site or hand out printed copies, as long as it is not a direct story from an existing comic book or such, I shouldn't be able to be sued.

Nothing better than a contact buzz from a new 2600. High Times, baby! Stan "Woody" Harrelson

Help Needed! (hope you remember your children's songs!)
StanJr replied to Blackjax's topic in Atari 2600
Blackjax, dude, I've been trying to figure out what is going on in that game, but it is all buzzes and beeps from here. Its amazing you were able to decipher the ones you did. This game should be called "Here's a Weird Looking Blue Thing That Dances to a Barrage of Incohent Sounds." Sheesh. -
There's a way around the trademark thing, something to do with "as long as you are not making any profit from using a trademark" thing. This may be what gets the cease and desist?
-
Come of Joel, Stan's got faith in ya. I like the stuff you're considering. Now get to work.....go ahead, we'll wait.

Mountain King isn't as much complex as it is just plain freakin' HARD! I still have yet to reach the top of the stupid Mountain with the crown. And forget about getting to the "easter egg" levels. Sheesh! Peasant-of-the-Mountain Stan
