    NEW GAME EXPO

Man, that's pretty ambitious. How are you handling the cost/accomodations/scheduling/etc. details? I assume you will have to rent the school or at least part of it? Do you need insurance for something like this? Will the school lump the parking lot in with the cost of renting the school or will that be seperate? Are you going to have catering or will it be more of a carnival food vendor set up? Do you plan on having game vendor booths? Are you going to try to get any official sponsorship? Will you need to work out accomodations with any local hotels? And, oh yeah, where are you located? "north east" of what? Need more info, Stan
  2. Hey Rhindle! Return works great on PCAE and is loads of fun! The amped up graphics make it a much better play than the original. As a matter of fact, I replaced the old Mario Bros. with yours in my emu catalog. Thanks for your hard work! If you do get this thing to a cart, put me down for one! Super Stan
  3. I love the NES. It was THE system after the bottom fell out of Atari and I played it right up until 1998 when my "then new" girlfriend introduced me to the N64 and insisted that we also get a PSX. Now I have all four and am happy as a bug in a rug. (Although that still eludes me as a measure of happiness )
  4. Now that I know they exist, I'll make an effort to go to as many as I can. I'm a travellin' Stan

    my box

    Malix, you saucy monkey! Shame.
  6. what are the chances of that, skatepunk! Ha! All in good fun. Smilin' Stan
  7. not at all. everybody has "joe jobs", they're just the stepping stone jobs you take during high school, college, what have you, to pay the rent, buy the pizza, and buy the video games. You don't take them very seriously and you are always looking for something that pays more for less work. You know, "joe jobs." Only way I see that as a crack is if your name happens to be Joe. Far as I know, your name is skatepunk60. If it also happens to be joe, then ooops! Maybe we should call 'em "stan jobs!"
  8. Video games are stupid addictive, mostly because its tubs of fun to play them and collect them. I'm totally bitten by the video game bug. As for the occupation: I am an Education Specialist. I work with elementary and junior high school kids. (I try to limit the amount of my salary that goes to video games and comic books, but I am losing the battle. ) Before that I was a professional chef, and before that I had many, many other "joe jobs." Stan of all trades.
  9. Okay here's my treatment: It can be done and done interestingly well. It might go something like this: 4 screens, 1 for each section of each NES level. Screen 1: a simple screen that involves jumping up to collect coins and stomping goombas and Koopas Screen 2: a second similar screen, more jumping and coins and bad guys, but the difficulty of the jumps and bad guys can be increased (maybe even a few new baddies) maybe even a perilous fall to the death type of screen (similar to the giant mushroom level in NES) Screen 3: Even tougher jumps with more coins and baddies (would those cannons with the bullets be too much to ask?), but this level ends with Mario going into the castle with the flag. Screen 4: Bowser's castle. Some lava jumps, maybe a couple of flame chains to jump. (It'd be going too far to want some of those shell beetles) Then, the showdown with Bowser. He spits fire and jumps and you have to jump on him three times to squash him. Maybe a final screen with you and Toad or you and Princess Toadstool would follow. Then you start back at screen 1 with the difficulty amped up. The number and variety of power-ups might have to be majorly revised and limited, but you should at least be able to have 1-up mushrooms and stars. If the up direction could be used to jump, it may be possible to shoot fireballs with the button (this may be asking too much) The backgrounds would be less detailed and there wouldn't have to be many colors (they didn't bother with too many in the NES). But all the basic elementsc would still be there. It would operate very similar to how Jungle Hunt operates. Some of the variety of the NES would be lost, but the basics are still what make the game fun and could be preserved on 2600. O ye who art more wise than I, please feel free to pick this apart and tell me where I am stretching the limits of the 2600 (it will greatly help me in learning what I can and cannot do on the 2600) Wannabe Programmer Stan
  10. That didn't take long! And now you have time for radio as well? Must have been a revolution in your house, 70's old pal! In any event, its nice to have ya back. (its almost like you were never gone) Welcome back, Stan

  12. Spanish is taught in the US??????? I didn't even think English was taught here anymore, maybe its been replaced by Spanish? No halba espanol Stan
  13. Doesn't matter to me, just play games and review them. I mean you've got a review of Frostbite (that game is nothing special), just review games and let me read them!
  14. If it will work on Stella or PCAE, I'll play. And for the record, I stand and sing "Sur le pont d'Avignon" at LEAST once a day.
  15. BAH! I care not for your "higher" number. My number is more than 7 times greater than your puny number. My number will SMASH puny number! Rarrrrr! Hulk-ed out Stan (Hey dollopx, nice avatar by the way)
  16. Hey osbo, there's always the laptop! Take care, dude. Too many good-byes Stan
  17. Hey Chaz, in your pic, the Crackpots cart sitting on top of your Space Cavern cart creates an optical illusion if you look at it right. They look like the top and side of the same cart! Wavering Depth Perception Stan

    PCAE Slowdown

AtariDude. Its true, ME has NO true DOS, it has a DOS emu program only. I don't think the F8 thing will work, but I will give it a try to see. liquid_sky: I doubt RAM is the problem, I think you are more right when you suggest that its not being cleared properly. I'll give that program you linked me to a try. That will probably solve the problem. Thanks everybody!
  19. No intrusion. Sounds like a 2600Jr box, but those only came in red and silver to my knowledge. Could be a 7800, but I've never seen the box to one??

    PCAE Slowdown

I've been using the PCAE alot (the colors are more accurate than Stella and it lets me play Pitfall II). But after I play 3 or 4 different games, the PCAE starts to drag. It takes double or even triple the time to start the emulation and come back to the menu after stopping the emulation. Am I not clearing something out, or is this lag normal? Side note: If I close PCAE and then open it again, the problem is gone? A little on the slow side, Stan
  21. Dude! Say it ain't so 70's! I'll miss you man. I understand just how crazy life can get at times, though, so take it easy and take care of business. We're always here when you want to jump back in. Peace. Tearjerker Stan
  22. The page is much improved. I enjoy reading your reviews! How often do you update with new ones?
  23. Right, so its both 1 and 2 player.
  24. Frogs and Flies ONE PLAYER? What is this? The one I had as a kid was definitely two player.
  25. quote: Originally posted by Nateo: One of my friends wondered how games like Tomb Raider Its on my list of things to do. And that Super Mario Bros. has potential too. I'm working on mastering 6502 and porting new games to the 2600 is my main agenda. I'll take a 2600 version of War Craft.
