I did buy a Sega Power Sports trackball last year that's ripe for modding. The thing is about useless in it's current form and only supported by three SMS games. I tried out that football game on my Genesis Everdrive which was bloody awful, spin the trackball like crazy and my character barely moved he was so slow. I didn't even bother trying the other ones. I bought it on Amazon for cheap after reading a rumor online that it could be made to work with Marble Madness for Genesis. I tried both the EA and Tengen versions to no avail. Neither game responded except with the switch in Joystick mode.
Sportspad controller in joystick mode works great on Atari games, once I got obscenely high score in Reactor from just one life. The controller in trackball mode only worked with SMS games and weren't supported beyond that, it is not surprising the controller didn't work well on Genesis games.

VTech? So not worth much at all?

Why stop at LCD? How about LED? I have seen 16x16 LED matrix that comes very close to the size of original LCD. I don't know if there's available supply of these 16x16 LED matrix but if it's still in production or there's huge surplus then maybe try that? The only drawback is it'd draw more power and the battery won't last as long as with backlit LCD and microcontroller to convert old Microvision display signal to modern LCD.

<GRAVEDIGGING>

I have most of the parts and only needed to order diode (the ones I have are huge 5A variety and not for this project) and the analog switch chip plus the case and keypad. The enclosure has number pad and buttons mounted. I made a boo-boo with the original file I sent for PCB, I used the silkscreen for female 9 pin connector, not male! This is why the male connector is upside down in the picture, it's the only way to make it work correctly.
Yes it does look like the variable resistor is backward but fortunately the pinout are reversible (center pin is tap) anyway so it's fine as it is. It would have mattered only if I was going to make a hole in the case for regular re-adjustment but I doubt it's needed at all.
The chip already arrived. I still need the diodes (estimated date of delivery June 10-22, tracking shows it hadn't left Mouser warehouse) and to connect the 5200 connector end. Fixed the file for that 9 pin connector, and I am planning to send it in for another run. I may change the 2x8 pin connector to use actual 15 pin socket instead, the ribbon cable to db15 connector are pretty scare since cheap stand alone sound card with separate gameport / MIDI port connector aren't common as they were 15 years ago.

eeo003 has her 5200 power supply relisted as for part or not working. This generally makes return harder but if someone buys that and gets a different one, eBay money back should still apply for not matching picture and description.

Unlike eBay, there seems to be nothing to discourage or prevent shills. There's nothing to stop employees from making account and driving up auction of items from their own store. At least eBay tries to fight shills.

I've seen NIB Atari 5200 available from Chinese sellers for $15 and NIB laptop from Chinese sellers for like 1/10th the retail price. If it's from China, skip it.

I'll take it but I have a long wait...

Some cartridge even supports JiffyDOS

I quit using photobucket long ago for hotlinking to forums. Beside their ads were getting annoying even if I am registered. I am using imgur instead, can even upload without needing an account

Haven't looked there in some years. The price always went up higher than eBay price plus no buyer protection if I got shit.

Theoretically you could replace the transformer and the power supply PCB with something modern. Laptop power supplies are common and some are good quality. Get one, say around 19v DC, rig up a 16v DC-DC converter, 12v DC-DC converter, 5v DC-DC converter, and a negative 3.3v somehow. (why does Intellivision needs negative 3.3v anyway?)

eBay is at fault for launch edition fiasco. They have added launch edition keyword to every single fucking consoles. 6 switch heavy is the only true "launch edition", all other 2600 are redesigned and reissued. Mini SNES? Launch Edition! Majesco Game Gear that doesn't work with TV tuner and a few SMS games? Launch Edition! Atari 5200 with 2 ports and won't work with 3 games? Launch Edition!!!
Seller did not add these, they are auto added by eBay. Seller needs to be aware and manually delete it from title when making a listing.

I don't know anyone specifically in Phoenix area but there are a few good people on pcenginefx.com/forums/ (need to register first to use it) or if you have Facebook try https://www.facebook.com/groups/TurboTownTG16/?ref=bookmarks They can suggest someone to help recap or diagnose the sound problem.

Pin 7 and 8 on controller port are for power and ground. If you have a meter, check for short between that 2 pins.
Also carefully open up phazer and see if there are broken or loose wire somewhere. If it looks fine and isn't shorted, do you have another SMS to test with or another phazer to test on your SMS. This would help rule out which one is causing the shut down issue.

I'd be happy if someone can make Crysis work on Lynx, and using McWill's LCD mod with VGA out, be able to support 1920x1080 and 60fps minimum.

New, never used. Great for keeping my C64 disk drive going a few more decades.

It's so tiny. I wish they'd put these in smaller enclosures, since they obviously can.
If it's small enough, how about stuffing the gut inside a NES cart? NES cart is big enough on its own it could house smaller game consoles. You would need to relocate the Famicom connector to the cart end.

Duke Nukem Forever part 2 will be out first at this rate.

There's also that SCSI CD adapter to make your Duo a stand alone CD-ROM but it was never released. AFAIK the price of a regular 2x SCSI CD-ROM was cheaper than a Duo and not many people are going to set up a Duo next to a Macintosh since back then Macintosh used non-VGA standard display and you would need a separate display to run Duo. Seemed like a strange idea if they did release it so thankfully it was never released.

eBay rule is preorder must be shipped within 30 days of payment. This SNES is a lot more than 30 days later. If his buyer remembers this they can leave the seller a neg after 30 days for failing to follow the rule.
And no Chrono Trigger????? I'll put my $80 elsewhere like a PSP with softmod to play Chrono Trigger on emulator

Duel Pokey? Are that 2 chips fighting again? I think you mean dual as in 2?

I hope there are entire chapters dedicated to how cartridges make games bug-free.
If there are one, I'd like to show them 7800 Impossible Mission.

Durable connector was the weak point of a few consoles. Texas Instrument TI-99 series with horizontal cart loading put stress on the connector and I've seen a few with broken solder joints or even cracked PCBs. 8-bit NES also had an issue, due to the ZIF design the contact were prone to failing from oxidation without any scraping from cart PCB rubbing on connector. Also leaving cart (especially Game Genie) inside for long can flex the contact out of place.

Ebay buyer "accidentally" bid on something.

Just a friendly reminder, until UID is completed a buyer can still pay for it as much as 6 days after end of listing (2 days before UID can open and 4 more days) if you sold item via BIN and the later buyer then pays up, you would have 2 buyers and one item, and can risk a neg from one.
All sellers should avoid relisting until after UID is completed.
