  1. There's also that SCSI CD adapter to make your Duo a stand alone CD-ROM but it was never released. AFAIK the price of a regular 2x SCSI CD-ROM was cheaper than a Duo and not many people are going to set up a Duo next to a Macintosh since back then Macintosh used non-VGA standard display and you would need a separate display to run Duo. Seemed like a strange idea if they did release it so thankfully it was never released.
  2. eBay rule is preorder must be shipped within 30 days of payment. This SNES is a lot more than 30 days later. If his buyer remembers this they can leave the seller a neg after 30 days for failing to follow the rule. And no Chrono Trigger????? I'll put my $80 elsewhere like a PSP with softmod to play Chrono Trigger on emulator
  3. Duel Pokey? Are that 2 chips fighting again? I think you mean dual as in 2?
  4. If there are one, I'd like to show them 7800 Impossible Mission.
  5. Durable connector was the weak point of a few consoles. Texas Instrument TI-99 series with horizontal cart loading put stress on the connector and I've seen a few with broken solder joints or even cracked PCBs. 8-bit NES also had an issue, due to the ZIF design the contact were prone to failing from oxidation without any scraping from cart PCB rubbing on connector. Also leaving cart (especially Game Genie) inside for long can flex the contact out of place.
  6. If you have the security screwdriver, you could open the unit and try to directly tap into RF out to check. Getting the metal plate off is going to take a while though.
  7. http://www.inquisitr.com/4311949/sega-forever-coming-to-ios-android-for-free/source/su/?utm_source=su&utm_campaign=KTK&utm_medium=gbp More at the link Hello Phantasy Star O(ff)nline! Liked to play it on my DC. Some of the game may prove a bit challenging to play without a decent controller though. Also I wonder how would Sega implement SMS 3D games on a non 3D smartphones? Most of the 3D games didn't have 2D mode. And the light gun? Probably touch screen but that'd be like shooting at point blank range.

    RetroN 77

Just one little nitpick from the picture. The 2600 cart seems backward! When you plug into 2600jr the end label are "right way" for reading even though the main label would face away. On the RetroN, the cart is rotated so the top label is facing user but the top label generally looks upside down when inserted and the end label would also look upside down on RetroN if they don't flip the cart slot to match 2600jr orientation.

If it plays Pitfall II and can handle that kooky 32-in-1 cart gracefully I'll consider it for HDMI and leave my 7800 console for 7800 games only. For some reason my TV only displays properly from 2600 games via RF. If I play any 2600 games via AV mod on my 2600 or 7800, I am missing every other line like my TV is discarding one whole field. 7800 games play fine over AV mod.
  10. Oddysey^2 seems to have a very high boxed rate. I figure 2 out of 3 O^2 games I find in the wild are CIB and that's easy about 50 CIB games in my collection (and about 25 loose) Box tended to fall apart easily so it can't be that. I guess it's because O^2 didn't have a large market share and seemed to favor older gamer that more games remained boxed for many years.
  11. Different seller eBay Auction -- Item Number: 311653998049 shows the exact same PCB and slightly cheaper for the kit.
  12. You forgot Microvision. Just a few games, didn't stay in market long, and suffered from LCD problem as they aged. Out of all pre-1990 handhelds, Microvision probably did the worst in market sales. Nomad wasn't the only portable of 1990s, there's also Virtualboy. Lasted 9 months on the market, a little over a dozen games, and also broke easily.
  13. What about SuperPET using 6809 CPU? It's the only PET I have anyway.
  14. I wish I could enjoy Cloak and Dagger properly. The DVD out doesn't have closed caption or subtitle for the deaf. I have the Cloak n Dagger and WIzard combo, it was labeled as subtitled but only WIzard is subtitled. The company that made the case and cover said oops when I complained. I do hope I can get to Astoria sometime in my life, I loved the movie as a kid. The crazy adventure was one of my fantasy. Did you get to the 3-eyed rocks? Oh about 20 miles from Astoria IIRC, south along the shore.
  15. Pre-PnP era sound card needs to be set manually as implied above. Also you probably need to set autoexec.bet with the sound card parameters. It's been too long since I messed with the sound card.
  16. How long was the battery in the system? It may have started to leak and that would make it stick a bit.

last time i shopped at gamestop, was the release of the xbox360.

  18. Right. Originally that one NAND game was left unused in the original schematic and wasn't connected to anything on the PCB.
  19. Just to make sure no confusion between us or anyone else looking on this, this is what I see on my 2 port 5200. Red is new compared to existing schematics: EDIT: and the POKEY alteration:
  20. Yep, I think the test expects NTSC only console so see if someone can correct that with auto detect (ie if checksum equals one value, it is NTSC, if it equals another value it is PAL, else it fails) or make a separate PAL only test ROM.
  21. Looks like it loads custom program from the 2x EPROMs. Make sure that gets dumped, 40 year old EPROM aren't good at keeping memory.
  22. 7400 (all variants including 74LS00) are NAND. The chip on my 5200 are 74LS00 and the schematic specified 'LS00 so the schematic drawing may be wrong, missing a little "o" on the end of each of those 3 gate. Also I looked at the schematic. I can see A27B, C, and D but no A which is where I was at when I found the extra wires, and pin 11 and 12 are connected on A15B (which looks like A158 due to poor quality scan) while on mine one of the pin was cut and lifted from PCB to break that connection.
  23. While waiting for parts for making my own Masterplay clone and to do power mod on my 4 port console, I tackled the 2 ports I have. Won't accept cart, there's something inside the slot that I couldn't get it out so I went ahead and took it apart for eventual cart slot replacement from Best site. I noticed my 2 ports had a few jumper wires. I compared with the 2 ports schematic I found on console5 site and came up with these: A7 POKEY pin 8, 9, 10, and 11 shown as NC on schematic, but they were tied to ground on mine. Bug fix? All it did was to force the unused player 3 and 4 pot lines to ground. I wonder if Atari found issues with floating input causing glitches on games that are designed for 4 players. A27-A (one of 4 NAND gates) was not found in schematic, but pin 1 and 2 (inputs) are tied and jumpered to ø1 (pin 3 of CPU and pin 18 of EXT). Another wire connected from pin 3 (output) of A27 to pin 11 of A15 (input). Pin 11 is cut and lifted from the PCB, the schematic had it originally connected to pin 12 of A15 Appears this change is to invert ø1 signal and add to A15 along with 5 other separate inputs to control RAM /CAS. Could be bug fix related to RAM timing? These were hand fixed and as far as I can tell, all done before putting the RF shield on since it's a pain in the butt to take it apart and I didn't see any sign of scratch or something that looks like it was fixed after RF shield was first installed. Unless Atari used snips and clipped all the tabs for easy removal?
