Turbo Everdrive doesn't come with the shell currently. It's an aftermarket addon from at least 2 different sources. I got one here at http://www.sculpteo.com/en/print/turboeverdrive-turbografx-16-cover/8QLdvGu9?uuid=HZFankSQLIfD4MPh6lIA4c It cost me $12 shipped, I got a plain white one since I was planning to paint it nice. First fill in the lettering with bright yellow paint. Then using rollers paint all the outside area black to make it match my TG-16 nicely. The other one is http://www.shapeways.com/product/7J84PC7B2/ted-shell?li=shortUrl&key=ca2f5705e9c1015d374729e7c7e1ec2e and it seems more costly. They do look a bit nicier but I liked the first one better. Do keep in mind the new TED 2.0 will be out in a few months, sporting extra RAM to play Populous and future homebrewn games. The board will also be rearrainged a bit to fit better in certain console whose locking tab currently conflicts with 1.x boards. If you want the extra RAM, wait a few months. If you already have a PCE, CoreGrafx, or Japanese Duo, and don't care for playing homemade games, no reason to not buy Populous cart. You could wait a few months for when some current 1.x owners sell theirs to buy 2.0 I'm not planning to sell mine though. I do have Populous and I have Arcade Pro for some CD games (Arcade card can't be run on TED, both 1.x and 2.0)

I drink a coke, do pullups, and burp. Then get a light meal. Something greasy to help things keep moving.

AFAIK Mario Tennis was never available with regular box since they were pack in game, and VB system was never sold new without tennis game. The display only box is the only proper box for Mario's Tennis and I've seen them fetch good price even just for empty box. Good steal at $2 -
Yes you can, the data are the same. Only the plug size are different. If you have Turbo DUO version, they should work as-is. One issue to keep in mind, Turbo Taps were never designed to be used with long cable, people over at PCEnginefx forum have found issues using the tap with long cable (either adapter or extension) without having to hack the tap itself and adding one measly $0.05 capacitor that NEC/TTI left out to save money. If you have such long adapter cable and you find the controller seems flaky and unreliable (yet using single controller without the tap works fine), making a shorter cable or the capacitor fix usually will work.

Some early Lynx manuals are rather large and won't fit the top CD sleeves unless you want them sticking out of the case. There's probably 5 or 6 large manuals, they were also reissued in smaller manual form when they were issued with smaller box.

The buyer can still screw the seller. eBay and Paypal usually sides with buyers in any disputes. If the buyer file claims and state it is a counterfeit, they will get money back and not need to return the fake cart. The buyer only need to state the fake item is destroyed. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2082060/PayPal-eBay-buyer-destroy-2-500-violin-deemed-counterfeit.html one example.

Game Factory? Someone find a stash of unsold Blockbuster Game Factory carts?

Schematic looks correct. If anything goes wrong, it's probably the circuit board you were reusing, it might have had a hidden connection or via that was fouling up the connection.

One more thing about CD games, Altered Beast is the only game that will not work without the original 1.0 card. USA got 2.0 and 3.0. And there's 2 versions of Arcade card. Pro has extra memory and is meant to be used on PCE/Coregrafx with add on CD as it doesn't come with extra memory. Duo has extra memory that can be used and only needs the slightly cheaper Duo version.

Mah poor wallet!!! I have 2 Game Gears (one single ASIC and one twin) that could use a new LCD. Both have been recapped but the game still looks shit on it. Old LCD doesn't look as good when you compare to modern LCD like those in 3DS and cell phones. (I also have Majesco GG, it looks slightly better and it will remain stock) I also might do another LCD Lynx mod. Sooooo..... no sushi for about 2 months? I will miss that nice spicy calamari sushi.

I think Gauntlet is the only game that comes in ridged but not flat version.
-
I'd have to find them first! It's been a few years.

That looks very easy compared to other mod board. No messy wires, just line up the board to the TIA chip on the solder (bottom) side, solder in pins, set the bridges for NTSC or PAL system, and just one set of wire for video and audio out. Looks like something a caveman can do it. I would buy if it worked for 7800. I may buy it anyway for my 2600 Jr that has bad RF box (sound OK, grainy video, O-scope shows normal signal into RF modulator, probably dead inside the little silver box)
-
Could have been much simplier but AA store stopped carrying blank 2600 boards sometime ago. I got a few with F4 bankswitching support and a few with no bankswitching. Was going to make multicarts that hold nearly all of the games but then Harmony came out and mine sat in a pile of to-do bin since then.

Found some Atari games along with Sears II system (one that looks like mini 7800). The controller and most of the games worked fine. Paid only $25. One game however does not work on my TV. One TV keeps reporting no signal. Another (older) TV rolls a lot. No manual V-hold to check it out. It's a shame I got a dud considering I have not seen a blue 2600 cart before or one that has unusual handle on the end. -
Go with Duo-R. Later Duo series, seemed more reliable overall than earlier Duo but any will do. RX is not worth the extra money, it's just the R with a 6 button controller. If you plan to play mostly USA games, get either Everdrive for the Duo or get it region modded: http://www.tg16pcemods.com/tg-16pce-obey-chip.html Obey seems like the easiest way to do mod without having to track down hard to find 8PDT switch.

Sega Mater System 3D glasses via emulation?
7800fan replied to Nebulon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Meka supports 3D glasses via emulation if you build an adapter. It would be interesting to see if Sega 3D games can be played on a 3D monitors without needing 30-year old glasses. 3D game that everyone can see. -
Adjusting Vertical/Horizontal Hold on an Old CRT
7800fan replied to Spook Rooster's topic in Hardware
A few PAL games were released in USA by accident, probably by liquidator who didn't know any. I remember getting some red box Atari games from a clear out store (like Big Lot type) oh some 20 years ago and some of the games would roll on my TV and not display proper color. Google search showed it has been raised before: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/13487-rolling-screen -
Still waiting for that too. It's not ready yet though

FWIW the white PC Engine has only RF out and needs add on devices or mod to get composite, S-video, or RGB out. Coregrafx (both versions) has Composite out. Composite and RGB can be obtained directly off the rear expansion, and another useless design: PC Engine and TurboGrafx can support S-Video but not from expansion connector, it has to be tapped on the main board so the S-Video jack has to be installed only on the main system and not expansion device. The expansion connector pinouts are the same for both Japanese and USA consoles but the shape is different. USA consoles has trapezoid shape and TurboBooster (Plus and CD system too) will not fit Japanese systems. Japanese add on devices (CD system and Ten No Koe for example) will not fit USA consoles. You can file the connector's side to make them fit. Ten No Koe 2 with AV and/or RGB mod can be made for a lot less than an official Turbo Booster Plus (only one I saw on eBay). I just got one for under $30 shipped and I plan to hack in AV ports. Modding the systems to take cross region games is a bit of a work, you need to snip and flip 8 data lines on the cart connector. The old way was to use 8PDT switch but those are getting scare and stupidly expensive. There are cheaper alternative to large switch that also works. For Japanese systems, one more mod is needed to make it accept USA games. Or just get the Turbo EverDrive and skip the cart slot mods. PS PC Engine and CoreGrafx have tiny motherboard and still remains to date the smallest commercial non-portable game system ever made. When it was redesigned for USA release, they though us American had bigger-is-better and made TG-16 overly huge with lots of wasted PCB space inside. They could have left the main board the same size (with flipped data to discourage importing games) and simply had huge shell with lots of wasted empty space.

What about Zelda like game? When Legend of Zelda game was released, there were a few similar games for other platform like Neutopia and Golden Axe Warriors. I'm sure original LoZ can somehow be ported to Lynx. Graphics are there and are simple enough it can fit Lynx's 16 color per line limitation. Wish I knew about coding well enough that I could try to make a base code for playing one on Lynx. (to avoid copyright issue, call it Legend of Handy or something)

easy way: go to http://atariage.com/software_list.html?SystemID=LYNX and download the ROM. If it is not available, the author probably requested it not be released.

Solved!!! I checked, got 5v after the regulator but when the game started to play, the voltage dropped below 3.5 before Lynx crashed and shut off. I swapped for another LD1117S50TR, same thing. Just to rule out problem with that regulator, I inserted a plain 7805 and it worked fine. Now I just need to figure out why LD1117S50TR worked fine with battery but not with DC power. The diode should have not made any difference on the input as the input voltage was still higher than minimum needed for the regulator to work. The adapter (Atari branded) measured 14.5v with no load and 8.3v when plugged in. For the moment, I'll assume somehow that the small efficient regulator is somehow good enough for original LCD with power guzzling CCFL but not for new LCD. I have 2 other Lynxes with LD1117S50TR installed and still has original LCD, they are working fine.
