Nintendo Switch - Hidden Gems - - Too soon?
Classic Pac replied to Metal Jesus's topic in Nintendo Switch
My biggest surprise so-far a remake of the 1st ToeJam and Earl. The one that was on the Genesis and since have become really expensive. The new version has Auto Save between levels and a Level Up system so you can take on the tougher enemies. Better Graphics but the same level design and the characters only look better. Best of all it has gotten good reviews. -

Nintendo Switch - Hidden Gems - - Too soon?
Classic Pac replied to Metal Jesus's topic in Nintendo Switch
I was checking out a Retro games on the Switch video and really came across some amazing games. I think after looking at the 100s of titles on the E store. We really need a Hidden Gems videos in fact a series of them as there are so many games that no one hears about. Like Jack 'n' Hat, basically a Super Mario clone with some cool extra features. -
A while back a friend gave me their Atari 800 XL computer, to be honest they didn't know it worked or not. After I got it I managed to get a modern power supply and TV hookup only to find out that some of the caps went bad. I have another friend who is a PC Tech who loves anything retro. His collection of classic computers should belong in a museum he has so many including a full Apple II set from monitor to printer. So after getting the closest match to what he needed and a replacement mylar for the keyboard he went to work. He fixed the motherboard where nearly every cap was bad, he got it working. The Q Bert game I picked up earlier actually works. Unfortunate the keyboard is another matter. Which is finally the reason for this post as in "I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO?". Not everything works, and there are parts missing. Really Atari Computer People what should I do?

As you might have guessed I am a huge Pac Man fan when I first heard about Pac Man Museum Plus I knew I had to get it. Currently Nintendo on their eShop is offering the game for $19.99 plus 5 figures for your arcade as a Bonus was a huge plus for me. What you get Pac Man Super Pac Man Pac & Pal Pac Land Pac Mania Pac Attack Pac In Time Pac Man Arrangement (2 versions) Pac Man Championship Edition Pac Motos Pac'N Roll Remix Pac Man Battle Royale Pac Man 256 What I have found so far have been games easy to unlock and a lot of titles frankly I never heard of before, namely Pac In Time and Pac Motos and a few like Pac'N Roll that are quite fun. Even getting your arcade the way you want is fun, and having the Ghosts from the games as customers is fun too. Overall a great title. I hope Namco does this again with the other Pac games such as Ms Pac and Prof Pac.

Amazing conversion -
In short a PC Tech friend has been working on my Atari 800XL. He managed to get it working, he also discovered the keyboard has an issue. Thankfully I found that replacement Mylar tracing on 8 Bit Classics. But I need some help from the Atari Computer fans here. My friend wants to replace the caps to be on the safe side. I was able to find cap kits on console5, but nothing for the 800XL directly. They do have one for the 600XL and 800 which one of those 2 would be the best option?

Great games that you hate? Awful games that you love?
Classic Pac replied to Razzie.P's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You can talk about "Games that People Hate", but yet a lot mentioned above sold very well. But the one I love frankly didn't but I love both games for not only there quirky humor and the make no sense at all puzzles. A good example of this is turn at ironing board into a surf board to take photos from a cave of drawings of sheep, so you get a dead sheep to be a stunt double in a film. Let's say it's impossible to play both games without a Walkthrough. Discworld and Discworld 2: Morality Bytes -
A while back a friend gave me an Atari 800XL in perfect condition. Finally got a power supply and AV cable turns out it doesn't turn on. Tried a trick someone suggested still doesn't work. I have a PC tech friend who is going to see if it has bad caps.

@Classic Pac: when you say it doesn't turn on, if you leave it powered up for ten or fifteen minutes, do any of the ICs or other components get warm?
-
-
I just confirmed everything left hand side of motherboard warm, right hand side room temperature.

A friend recently bought a Mac Classic and was working to get it running, when he found something that frankly shocked both of us. That was a penny, both the computer and the penny have a 1984 date. Has anyone here have ever seen anything like this before?
