  1. Socal's representation of my Uk Mike's and my involvement could have not beet more inaccurate to a point.
  2. A few clues here: http://www.retrogamingroundup.com/shownotes/2015/roundup092_2015.09.php And a massive Alex Jones style breakdown to come in a week or two!
  3. The wear and tear on the carts it produces was my point, NES carts take allot of abuse for a so called ZIF. That is one reason I am a big fan of the multi carts, for the most part one insertion and just remove the SD card for updating on the ones you can update. Now with multicarts available for most systems, even the Channel F, the originals can sit on the shelf wear and tear free.
  4. I doubt Carlson was told the whole history and origins, what he is saying is probably true as far as he knows. I have phone records, skype logs etc. that I saved documenting Uk Mike's and my participation. It was even documented by Woita in the interview we did. Doesn't matter much.
  5. More on that will follow soon, not trying to be secretive, but some new things have come to light.
  6. Hold on, let me check ...... NOPE I AM NOT BACK ON THE PROJECT. And if you listen to the interview we did with them Steve runs through that UK Mike and I were there from the beginning while Socal Uhuhs. And I would not rejoin if asked. I don't know who he is referring to but it isn't the guy (ME) from the very beginning. Even in death this just keeps giving.
  7. I should make this more specific, the idea for the console was 100% Mike's. I and UK Mike were a material part of the meetings to turn an idea into actual product, and my role in addition to bringing in some experts to help guide the creation was to design the console's PCB. It was originally nothing like it is now, think more of a Super Sega Genesis. If you listen to the interview our show did for the IGG campaign the first thing Steve does is lay out pretty clearly how it all got started and there are quite a few references to my original design with "yeah, yup, and uhhuh from Socal". One day Socal starts talking about his hardware guys and it was a big WTF moment, then they heard about me and we met up and laughed and laughed about the whole thing, no dirt there. I did want to be clear that profit was never Socal's prime motive, it was to create a really cool console. He didn't have any intention of screwing customers. I am going to just let this thing play out and stay out of it for now.
  8. Full disclosure of who I am, I co-founded RetroGaming Roundup with Socal and UK Mike, I own 3% of GameGavel and I stand to make allot of money if this thing goes though. That said Socal Mike has burned me several times in the last 2 years and I have had it. I was the original designer of this console when it was first conceived (until I wasn't), and it was going to be good. If you listen to our interview with them it was somewhat of a deposition to establish that many people contributed to this console that got erased from its history, myself included. This is a tough one for me, I was giddy with amusement for days but ultimatly I had to remember the guy I knew and I hope is still in there somewhere. I can tell you one of the last times I spoke to Mike Kennedy, the one I knew, was the day before the first issue of RETRO Magazine arrived. During the ramp up to and during the kickstarter he was still a part of RetroGaming Roundup and he utilized the shows reach on a constant basis to promote the kickstarter for the magazine. There were many promises made about how the magazine would carry show material and advertisement in return. When issue #1 arrived it was devoid of any mention of the show other than low on a list of podcasts in gaming. UK Mike and myself called him to ask WTF and we got the most robotic sanatized catch phrase laden response that magazines just don't do those things. Since then I have only seen the old Mike once or twice, and I like that guy, heck I even miss him. The simple truth is that Mike never wanted to defraud any customer, he had a dream to return gaming to the golden era and he intended to deliver every dollars worth to the backers. His downfall was to treat the close people who cared and could execute his ideas as expendible and look for the next best thing that told him what he wanted to hear. He created structures that cut out the most loyal and brought in lesser people, it happened to his mag and to his console. So he ended up with a smarmy moron who gave him a stack of buzzwords which was like handing a baby a loaded revolver. He is a true believer and had the guts to try to create something special, he just lost his way on the path. I think his idea is a good one, and perhaps one day he will get the right people to make it into a product. He isn't out to scam or cheat the end user because he puts himself in the shoes of that end user and wants something awesome. He needs to regroup and come back with a better machine and listen to his critics because they are right in the end. About Steve, I have met him on quite a few occasions and spent hours on the phone, and he is a solid guy, a good man, and has deep roots in the industry. Nothing but respect for him.
  9. Go to 2:33 in and that guy you see with a staff badge and a goatee, that is me, of RGR, speaking with James who is the AVGN which we did for about a half hour, and his crew was very nice as well. Or re-read the post above the part where I explain the same thing. After which I asked, hey man you mind if we share that vid when it goes up and his producer/camera guy replied "you bet".
  10. Stop Drop and Correct yourself. I am a long time contributor to Magfest and MANY of the arcade games you see in that video are mine from my collection, not to mention starting at about 2:33 in where you see me explaining Computer Space in detail to James, as well as Pong. And you will notice our posters and banners next to our display of quite a few special early Atari games. Not in the video was a ton of footage where we had the backs open to my Pong and Computer Space and he was asking all about the detials of how they worked. Then he went out in the hallway and did his schtick where he got not one fact right though, go figure. I give up about a week of my life trucking in that stuff, then back home and maintenance after use etc. pretty far from hacks. -Scott Co-Host RetroGaming Roundup
  11. We will be back, we will visit Tim again and we will support CGE as always, and I hope the fellow who lost the Halloween cart will too, understanding what all it took to do that. And if we see this asshole again we will have him ejected. That said, I hope hotel security opens the exit door with his forehead.
  12. A spindle is about 1/3 the size of a jewel case. Making off with a stack of 100 jewel cases would be a very deliberate act.
  13. Your stupidity offends me, 100 CDs is about the size of a thermos. By comparison, a Haloweeen cart would weigh a ton.
  14. Breaking news, my son who was diagnosed as having aspergurs syndrome in 2002, who is also on track to earn his pilots license before his drivers license, just declared this guy to be a cunt. I gave him a pass to use that word.
  15. Our booth, Retro Gaming Roundup show, was also ripped off on Sunday evening And we know exactly who it was. We are sorting though all the CGE pics that we see posted hoping to get a photo to go with the description and that should help lead to a name. He was seen in the museum trying to pick up or buy things, and was a bit of a problem at our booth. It would not surprise me if they were one in the same person. If anyone else cares to help ID this guy, I posted a description of him at our radio show forums: http://www.gamegavel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3213 My user name there is SubaruBrat. You can message me there if you have any info. I did ask the organizers that he be ejected from future CGEs, and I filed a report with the hotel security.
  16. Hi, I host a segment on Retro Gaming Radio called the Hardware Flashback (term used before the Atari products), and in this month's show I do a review on modern production of classic gaming hardware like the FB2, C64 DTV and others. It is intended to introduce the general public to what is so special about the FB2 and like quality hardware so it won't tell most of you anything you don't already know but you might still enjoy it being talked up in the media. You can download the Sept. broadcast at www.Retrogamingradio.com look in the upper right corner under CURRENT SHOW. I also post on the forums there as SubaruBrat Enjoy!
  17. I bought a few of each. The way I see it they stink for the most part, and I really hate sports games but they are a nice form factor and the casing might be usefull later, or maybe even the PCBs might find a use, and it is also just a novelty to add to the collection.
  18. Curt, I bought a few FB1s, just for the novelty. I bought over a dozen FB2s for gifts and for my personal collection. The FB2 was a dream come true. If you build the FB3 as a private venture you can count me in for at least two, probably more.
  19. Didn't Curt say that the FB3 would be a hardware prototype about now?
  20. I don't know about troll. He has a point in general, granted not an absolute one. Atari is great, but they suffered from repetition of product as much as they did from not releasing the 7800 and not marketing the NES when Nintendo came to them. The 5200 and 7800 both saw the same core arcade games re-released while other systems had uniqe games that had never been done before. Nintendo took Atari's domination of the market because they had original ideas while Atari was just porting over past hits. Nintendo gave you SMB and Zelda, Atari ported over Mrs Pacman and Centipede, again. But Nintendo also lost their market domination in part by reusing the same stuff.
