It's a great game, we just got it today. Did everyone catch the Atari 800 intro? It comes up with a blue screen with the Atari 800 font then it pretends to load the "Vice City" game on tape. It's a nice touch, totally appropriate for the time this is supposed to take place.

@Cheezball,
That sucks! I would email the seller and tell him that you bid more on that particular system because you were expecting an original box. My wife does the Ebay shipping here and she would have put the box in a plastic bag and protective material and put it in a second box. If it said in the ad the box was included I think you deserve a partial refund.
By the way, welcome to Atariage.

@Carolina Gamer,
I have tested a couple of hundred 2600's over the years and have found that the 6-switch and the Atari Jr. consoles have the sharpest picture and most vivid colors. A lot of the 4-switch systems have a grainier picture and duller colors. You may not notice it unless you compare them side by side.
I've only looked at US NTSC format consoles.
By the way, welcome to Atariage! There are a lot of good helpful people here.
OH, and never click on a link from NE146.

I love the NeoGeo Pocket Color, it's a great little system.
Must haves -
Match of the Millenium and Samarai Showdown 2
Rockman Power Battles. It's a Japanese Import, but at least the NGPC is not region specific.
other good ones are -
KOF R-2
Cardfighters Clash
Bust a Move
Metal Slug
I have Biomotor Unitron but haven't played it much, looks like a pokemon style RPG with robots.
The Neo Geo Pocket Pac-Man is really pretty good too.
If anyone finds a good light for the NGPC please let me know. I have a 3 in 1 worm light, but it provides less than optimal light distribution.

Lumpbucket,
I've seen that somewhere.

I still think of the Xbox as the Dreamcast 2.Dreamcast Soul Calibur and House of the Dead II are still two of my all time favorites. If you can pick up a cheap DC grab it.
ahh thats an xillent way of lookin at the xbox - heh now thats gunna be on my mind all the time
dont forget about house of the dead 3 comin out for xbox soon.
and possibly soon after Soul Calibur 2
I can't wait for both games, HOTD3 with a shotgun should be a major blast.
Soul Calibur 2 will look awesome, the first one is still impressive. -Chuck

I have all three (four if you count the DC). These are just my opinions, your mileage may vary.
IMHO the GC has the the best controllers, and it has extremely fast load times. (CPUWIZ, you can't even read the level title screens as they go by on Pac-man World 2.) The games so far are really impressive. I would have bought it for Eternal Darkness anyway. Best games: Almost all are good, but - Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros., Can't wait to see Godzilla!
The PS2 is awesome, the graphics are on a par with the GC and Xbox in the latest crop of games. Burnout 2 looks awesome, I haven't had that much fun with a racing game in a long time. I like like the controller second best. (Sorry Jaghammer). Load times aren't bad, I just started playing Albert Odyssey (sweet RPG!) on the Saturn. That really put load times in perspective.
Best games: GTA3, Burnout2, Kingdom HeartsI like the Xbox too. We have the fewest games for the Xbox, but the system's potential looks awesome. The controllers are huge, I love fighting games so the controller-S was a must. I'm hoping for some killer games the Xbox. Best games: Halo, DOA3. I still think of the Xbox as the Dreamcast 2.
Dreamcast Soul Calibur and House of the Dead II are still two of my all time favorites. If you can pick up a cheap DC grab it.

Hey, I'm not very far from the old Comma Vid office. I'll have to drive by and see what's there now.

Junies successfully made a run of Combat Rock carts, I bought one from the Goat Store. The quality was very good too.
I don't know what has happened with Tom. I do know his intentions were good with the cart and mods business, it started off really well. I can only hope all is well and he makes it right.
BTW I'm also still waiting for a Thrust + from May, but I'm not mad at Jahfish, things do happen. After all these are hobbyists working on these projects, real life sometimes intrudes.

I'm still waiting for mine, hope it arrives soon.

Tempest,
It's a great effort!
I really like the handwritten cart labels for the menu, it's perfect for a proto site.

HawgWyld1,
It's a 7805. Radio Shack has it for $1.49 as part #276-1770.

HawgWyld1,
I've seen that problem before, it's probably the voltage regulator that has failed. I'll try and find the part number you need to replace it. It's a fairly easy soldering job.

I bought it on a cart from Hozer too, it's one of the 2600 games I play most often. It's a must have for any Pac-man fan.

Wow a lot of us on AA play. Anyway here's the electric stuff.
My whole family is left handed, everythings strung for a lefty.
67 Gibson Flying V
80's Japanese Righty Strat
90's Mexican Lefty Strat
Sweet flea market Bass - Unknown Teisco Del Ray or equivilent, but it plays good.
Marshall stack
Ampeg VT 22
several little studio amps
lots of effects, some from the 70's
And I'm a great mediocre guitarist.

Laser Blast was one of the better looking games when it came out. I learned the timing so well that I literally could play it with my eyes closed. My wife still laughs about seeing me play it with my eyes shut.

Thanks! I found their site when I first got that 800. I emailed them and they wrote back right away and said they were also looking for an Impossible manual for the site, but hadn't seen one in years.
I guess it would also dump carts and boot tapes to disk files too. I just remember the ads for it in Analog and Antic and was always curious about how it worked back then. Now I have one to play with and it is pretty slick. The only drawback is the backup disks will only run on another computer with an Impossible board installed.

A while ago I picked up an 800 with 'The Impossible' board installed on the OS rom board. I managed to figure out how back up protected programs with it. I still would really like to see the documentaion that came with it, anybody have the instuctions? I have the feeling this thing is capable of much more. A scan or a textfile would be great.
Thanks,
Chuck
