  1. I had Kentucky Fried Chicken (aka "KFC" to the current generation) in Kentucky once. It didn't really taste any better. Maybe if they'd have deep-fried the chicken... with a side of chips and vinegar...
  2. PeBo, My PHA-4100A has a "July 1982 / Matsushita" label on it. When I first received it in 1999, the screen was scrolling/flickering. It didn't take much, but there's a very small sweet spot that stops the scrolling. My monitor is sensitive enough that if I wiggled the vertical hold control a little bit the screen would flicker. So it was only with very slow and deliberate twists to the left and right and a little patience until I dialed in the monitor that the vertical hold held. I followed the steps in the manual for dialing in the color and vertical/horizontal. Looks great for a 32 year old monitor. Too bad you can't get your hands on it prior to purchase.
  3. I bought a PEB and a floppy drive and some other NOS from Zach. I'm not too price sensitive (shorting Tesla this month covered my eBay purchases lol ), so I wasn't concerned about market value. And it was a bit of a thrill to open all the NOS stuff up like it was 1982-1983 all over again. Like PeBo, I too was somehow bit by the TI bug recently and brought my system out of storage/retirement... With the exception of the p-Code card, I have all the hardware (including Thermal Printer and Coupler Modem) that I had when I was a kid... I even picked up a NOS STX-80 printer mainly to print out Assembly and BASIC listings. It now smells faintly like a new system lol. Anyhow, waiting on a couple more pieces and setting up a corner of the home office with the fully operational TI in the next week, photos forthcoming.
  4. Ralph, Thanks and no worries. The Volume 1 issues are somewhat rare. I remember I couldn't even purchase back issues in 1983 because the publisher was already out of stock (the December 1982 issue mentions the first four issues were out of print and of limited quantity in one of their subscription advertisements). The other documentation is just "nice to have" since it would complete my original documentation for all my hardware and carts. sTIll waiTIng, Daniel
  5. I mainly played Tron, Joust, Donkey Kong, Pole Position, Jungle Hunt, and a few other arcade games, so I was thrilled when some of those titles came out for my beloved TI. I felt they were a good enough approximation of the real thing that I could get a gaming fix at home before heading to 7-11 (when Big Gulps topped out at 32oz) to play the real deal. Tron and Joust were my favorites and had high hopes for at least Joust to be released but don't recall ever seeing Joust on the TI. I believe I first played Joust at home on an Atari 800XL. Agree with save2600 that these games for TI were indeed "all that." After playing the TI "knockoffs" like Munchman, or playing the admirable but homegrown 99'er magazine programs, it was just cool to me to have some "brand name" titles straight from the arcade to play at home. I just loaded up Pole Position on the TI after playing Grand Turismo on the PlayStation, and the blocky graphics and simplistic sound are kind of endearing now. Or maybe I'm just still reminiscing about childhood, and after a couple more laps I'll be back on the PlayStation.
  6. Looks great! Perfect timing as I'm dusting off and setting up my TI system after 15+ years in storage.
  7. GreeTIngs, Ralph! I just acquired the E/A disks, and also three of the six Vol 1 of 99'er magazine. So here's my updated wanted list: TI Color Monitor Manual (PHA4100A) Slymoids Manual (PHM3197) 99'er Magazine - Vol 1. Issue 1, 2, 4 If you come across any of the above in your collection, happy to pay, trade, or combination of both, whatever is best. Thanks, Daniel
  8. PeBo / --- Ω --- It's even worse when you use a MacBook Pro. I have key mappings for Windows 7 which I run in a virtual machine, so CTRL+ALT+DEL is CNTRL+CMD+DEL, etc, and now that I've started using the TI again after 15 years, I'm trying to keep Apple, PC, and TI keyboards separate in my head.. CMD and + definitely doesn't quit applications in Mac OS turns out...
  9. jstimson, That was the first printer and TI joystick replacements I ever had (IIRC they could lock out the diagonals which made Munchman easier to play). Great memories. I can still remember the first time using that printer at home, I thought it was so cool that I could create printed documents.
  10. --- Ω --- Where did you get the TI logo wall art? I'd like one of those. Very cool.
  11. January 2017 Update: Per most recent post, I've acquired most of the items I had been looking for, but still looking for first year/first six issues of 99'er Magazine Volume 1, Nos. 1-6. And also would add that I'm looking for a Prostick II Joystick (Blue). Thanks everyone! ---------- Hello, I'm looking to buy the following: TI Color Monitor (PHA4100A) Operating Guide Slymoids (PHM3197) User Manual TI Editor/Assembler Disks (PHM3055) - Original Part A and Part B Floppy Disks First year/First six issues of 99'er Magazine Volume 1, Nos. 1-6 I have PDF versions of the guide, manual, and 99'er magazines listed above, but would like the original printed versions. I also have copies of the TI Editor/Assembler Disks, but would like the original TI supplied disks. As for the 99'er magazines, I have the 99'er Best Of that has most of the content from the first year of print (Volume 1), but would like to have the original six magazines which are likely rare (even copies with mailing labels are fine). Just trying to round out and complete my collection. Happy to pay for the above items and/or offer in trade any of my extra equipment (TI-99/4a Silver/Black console with power supply and documentation, speech synthesizer, PEB with cable and floppy disk drive - but no disk controller just the drive, black program recorder, beige program recorder, dual recorder cable, TI joysticks, TI-Writer Software, Extended Basic, Neurosurgeon, Adventure (cart only), Star Trek, TI Printer Manual - PHP2500). Everything is tested and works. I have the documentation for most of the stuff including TI-Writer, but I don't have the original TI-Writer binder and don't have any of the original packaging/boxes). Any offers/help appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Greetings, Programs! I'm going through all my boxes and setting up my TI which hasn't seen any use - other than to occasionally test power - in over 15 years. Pretty much have everything on the hardware side (no p-Code card or impact printer). Can't wait to get it put together and officially join the community with some photos of my setup (might also snap a few of my Atari 800XL as well). Anyhow, before I start a separate thread is there a particular thread used for TI stuff for sale/trade/etc? I'd like to buy/trade for the printed manuals for the TI Color Monitor (PHA-4100A) and Slymoids, the original Editor/Assembler floppy disks, and Vol 1, #5 of 99er Magazine. If any one can point me in the right direction so I don't turn my first post into an eBay-like ad I'd appreciate it. Glad that I found this place (I was searching for the manuals above and found a Google Groups post with link to here), looking forward to participating and contributing. Cheers, Daniel
