  1. Yes, it doesn’t really benefit the OP with quoting what both of us were doing in the 90s (and probably of little interest to the audience here). There are plenty of reliable resources out there that support what I was saying that EDO was only introduced in 72-pin SIMMs (used by Pentium P5 chipsets). The main thing is not to send him on a wild goose chase for something that doesn’t exist. Back to the thread, 3, 8 or 9 chip 30 pin SIMMs are fine. Speed is the only other attribute but any 1MB SIMM will work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I recently performed this one: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/183694-600xl-64k-upgrade-pictures/ (Having some photos, rather than ASCII art, helps ) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Looks like someone incorrectly listed their 30 pin SIMMs on eBay as “EDO”. From memory, 72 pin SIMMs came in EDO or FPM varieties. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’ll be installing one of my UAV’s in a 1200XL next week so I’ll try it out with this monitor as well. I’ve currently got an XEGS with Sophia DVI hooked up to one of these as well, not to mention a Falcon... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. How are you powering the drive? What termination do you have in place? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. This model also has S-Video and composite video inputs and luckily accepts both 50 and 60hz, but not the 15khz signal. Admittedly, I got it cheap, the sound bar provides good sound and it somewhat matches the ST colour scheme. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That’s what the channel’s about To be honest, what I play and how I play, the controller lag isn’t a huge negative factor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks! It’s definitely the best I’ve ever seen the STE when used in the OSSC’s 5x line mode. I used a Logitech F710 wireless game controller along with a TOM2 USB to DB9 adapter. Works well (though on some games the fire button wouldn’t work on the Falcon - fine on the STE though). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks Frankie. I’ll try this out next weekend (my 1200XL has sat idle for too long ). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Has anyone installed the Antonia 4MB upgrade in their 1200XL? (Bear with me as I’m not across the A8 line as well as I am with the ST range) I have a stock 1200XL that I wish to install my Antonia in, but am wondering whether the flashable OSes can be used even though the OS chips in the 1200XL are somewhat different. I saw “sockets” are required according to a previous post, but that doesn’t give me any details TIA! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Interesting write up Petar. It pinpoints why so many people do have luck with Sandisk and not with other brands. I’ve had some people state that SD isn’t reliable either but like you, I’ve had not problem with them in my Falcon and STE via IDE-SD adapters (not to mention, I used them via UltraSatan, Satandisk and SCSI2SD adapters as well). Has it been suggested by some people that your driver was at fault for some CF issues? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I was going with MC Hammer... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I use my STE with the OSSC. The output is very sharp. https://youtu.be/S6_06fd8oWY The SCART cable I used was purchased from Cool Novelties. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I’m actually going to attempt this fix first since I have two XEGS in need of repair: http://vybostok.com/8bit-atari/flooded-and-rusted-atari-xegs-repair/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Russ, like Adaptec PCI controller on the PC, you will also need a SCSI host adapter for your ST. If you do get a host adapter for your ST, just source 50 pin SCSI 1 drives to keep things simple. You may need an external housing for the drive with a Centronics connection though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Going the SCSI route is probably one of the more expensive ways to get mass storage on the ST series, unless you have the host adapter already. Have you considered a Satandisk? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I have a pile of 27C256 that I bought for my STs. I’m guessing these would work too if you write to the right area of the EPROM? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Passion and possibly profit are just some things that motivate people to continue to undertake these projects on 30 year old hardware. Chris post as he works through a problem is something that others may benefit from (or simply ignore if it isnt of interest). The best part of these forums is the exchange of ideas. The more technically knowledgeable members will delve into a level of investigation that many of us arent capable of, even if its on getting a floppy drive working. The worst part of these forums to people taking their grievances public. Most people will prefer to read the former.
  19. I have come across the same problem with the video before. I was using an ST with a TV over a SCART connection. I ended up selling the TV but I believe it may have something to do with how the sync signal was being generated or the voltage on the blanking signal. Where did you get your cable from? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. If you still want to get crafty, you cojld install a Gotek yourself and modify that case. Someone may actually come up with a 3d printed bracket to hold both. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  21. The computer itself and therefore the cases are so expensive now that it would be a pity to modify the case. With that in mind, external access could only really be done through the floppy drive access. You could extend the FDD cable and power lead to the point where the drive sits outside of the case (a lot of Amiga users seem to do this with their Goteks to avoid modifying the case. With the FDD cutout open, the CF card adapter could pass through and sit aside.I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on this option but it's one... Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  22. I would recommend trying the STE and video cable wiggh another TV, and then the STE with the same TV and another cable. This could rule out the STE is the cause Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
  23. That looks close (possibly minus the Epstart book though). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Of course, if you have a collection of SCART RGB consoles like I do, the Sophia RGB and OSSC is a good combination too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Good to hear! I’m sure you’ll find the Goteks are more straight forward Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
