  1. Thank you guys, for joining this lil talk. It's very interesting to read about all the possible reasons to keep projects unnfinished. I think some really good reasons are 'Real Life' and 'Skills' because Thats exactly MY reasons. Yepp .. back in the late 90's I was starting two game projects. No conversions. Just new stuff. But after finnishing graphics, some sounds and working on the game engine, I have realized I am lack of skillz. My games was coded in turbobasic so I had to stop anything because I could not deal with my limits. It's frustrating when you try to add good effects, and the game always slow down like hell. Okay, here are 2 screenshos of the games. Maybe they can make you laugh. I am laughing my ass off after all the time. Nobody want to release a game, which you do not like yourself. Anyway, I like the words from Harvey. It's always hard to make a good conversion. Nobody want to release a game like 'BROS' of Kemal Ezcan and get all the bad reactions, especially from people that never have coded. But what, if coders would use the engines and artists would make new graphics, new level design, new specials new sound and so on to make awesome new games? I think, that's the way how good games like sam's journey on C64 was born.
  2. There are a lot awesome projects of coding games or their A8 conversions of awesome classics. Just wondering why all the cool projects stops one bit b4 they are finished. I did a search in the AtariAge board and the www using a few names of games and have found lots of those projects. For example: Price of Persia (awesome background graphics and intro done) SMB (very fast n cool graphics, multi directions scrolling + sound + level design was done in different versions & techniques) IK+ (playable demo exists.. no more to say) Ghost n Goblins (title, very nice graphics, running Hero and sound done) Contra (title, background graphics, scrolling done) Sim City (no comment ) And some clips in youtube are showing prototypes of turrican, outrun, rick dangerous, last ninja .... Even if we can't have the 100% conversions of the original arcade/c64/cpc/nes ..... versions on A8 because the © shit, so we could have lots of awesome game releases using the engines. It's a shame, there's only 1 .. ONE!!! great Jump 'n Run (Crownland) for the lil A8. Car Race.. the one and only good n serious A8 game is Pole Position. (smooth and fast graphics) Don't get me wrong, I don't want to beg for more n more games... Unfortunately I am not a coder but I could play any of the originals on original hardware or emulators. I want to understand the reason, why the lovely projects always ends, shortly b4 they are finished. Is it TIME? No prospect of profit? ("Fear, emkay could talk it down?" just kidding ) Any opinions?
  3. Sometimes I do colour reduction b4 or I'm changing some colours b4 starting the conversion so the palette better fits to one of the converter palettes.

  5. Two more Froggie-Trials ... but it's not a stunning result yet. Maybe I can find a cool lily pad pic for the background layer. Frogs1.xex Frogs2.xex
  6. So sad, can't believe the end of the Sim City Project.
  7. Damn... didnt knew about that project. And wow, last pic looks great.
  8. SimCity? I just remember I have played it a lot on my PalmOS devices, years ago. Guess the graphics are simple enough so the A8 can do it. Even the lo resolution of my oldest Palm m130 (160x160) was okay. No big sound is needed so all cpu time is free for calculating. What do you guys think? Is it possible?
  9. Hey Mate. Just checked the converter after doing your frogs pic over the weekend. I think that project isn't that easy and I'll start a few more trials. Let me change some settings. I don't give up yet. Greetings, Mario frog.xex
  10. Such jump n run / platformer could be THE reason to buy a VBXE board. Looks like it's a basic program, so you could cload it and save "D:carnival.bas" to disk on a SIO2SD device or something else and upload an ATR Image
  11. Okay, cool! Thanks for the explanation. Greetings, Mario
  12. Wow, looks great. If we have the title screen, maybe someone want to code the game. ?! ... running....
  13. Hey Darryl! 1st, I really like the new versions of DKjr. & Popeye. But I have one question. As you can see in my screenshot, the color of the ropes are green in the bottom screen (red border) I know it's because you change the color to make the platforms green. (blue border) My question: is there any reason, why do you not change the color after the end of the ropes, only in the blue border area? Greetings, Mario
  14. Pushover .... Hell, that would be nice and even my wife would like to play games on old Atari 8 bit again.
  15. The 'Melting Cube A8' and a cool T-800 pic. Enjoy! MARIO130XE_MELTING-CUBE.XEX MARIO130XE_T-800.XEX

  17. 1st... GREAT WORK FJK!!! Big thanks for all the hard work. Now my lil problem... After the latest updates I have the problem, I can't use the SHIFT key for cold start. If i change the BIOS-Settings to use the SELECT key for cold start, it's working well. Both SHIFT keys are working great in BASIC or SELFTEST but not if I try to use it for cold start. Am I the only one having this problem? greetings Mario
  18. wow, giana8a sounds very cool to me. thumbs up.
