I've got a couple of Tac-2s where the internal portion of the joystick broke off. Is this something that can be repaired or do the sticks need replacement? Are there even sticks out there to use as a replacement?

Warlords ball disappears on edges of plasma screen
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
Anyone? -
I only have Plasma TV's, and when I play Warlords on my Atari 7800, its really dark on the bottom and top of the screen. Maybe 1/2" to 1" width. I've adjusted the brightness and tried a separate TV and Atari 7800 with no luck. Is this just a general console issue? Any suggestions to fix this? Would an A/V mod do it?

Conductive Grease in Atari 3rd Party Joysticks?
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 2600
Some of the sticks had never been opened before, such as some Suncom sticks -
I've got some 3rd party sticks that aren't working well, so I opened them up to clean them out. Some of them have all metal contacts for the joystick and are covered in a dirty, greasy, oily substance. Is this conductive grease? If so, should I clean it off and put new grease on it?

So what counts as "classic" gaming?
thetallguy24 replied to SS's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I had posted about this recently, and its been discussed at length on many forums. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/236658-what-system-do-you-consider-retro/ -
Anybody have TAC 2's they're willing to part with?

I have this SMS controller where two pin holes for the plug have metal sticking out in the middle. It takes quite a bit of effort to plug it in to my Genesis, and I'm afraid the break the Genesis' pins. The controller works fine, but I'd like to know if there is a way to fix it. Can I push them back in a certain direction? Here is the attached pic:

Best Reproduction of Atari 2600 CX40 Controller?
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 2600
Well I've seen in my experience used CX-40s are hit or miss. The Best's are awfully expensive, although I agree on the quality. -
I'd like to find a good quality, new reproduction (not refurbished or used originals) of the CX40. Does anybody have any suggestions, or all of the repros just bad news?

Atari 7800 goes black/staticky after title screen
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
After more testing, I was able to get several 2600 games to work just fine. However, I tested 6 7800 games, and only one worked (Pole Position 2). The rest (Joust, Ms. Pac-man, Galaga, Centipede, cut out after the Atari intro screen. Is there a separate chip or capacitor that only affects 7800 games that could be out? -
Wico Boss vs Command Control (Robotron: 2084)
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
Well my noob stripes are showing lol I've only played it with one controller, so I wasn't aware Thanks though -
Wico Boss vs Command Control (Robotron: 2084)
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
Does it have a button on the stick? That's what I really want. Seem awkward to use two sticks and then a separate button -
Just got a copy of Wall Ball with the manual for next to nothing. Its in excellent shape. I've never heard of it or played it before this. I see it on Ebay where people are asking sick amounts. Is it really that rare or are mentally challenged people selling them?

No, I got that one to work. This is a different unit -
Atari 7800 goes black/staticky after title screen
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
Yeah I put in Battlezone, which works great on my other 7800. It runs, but its very dark with some funky horizontal lines. -
I have a 7800 that powers on fine to the title screen but craps out after. I've tried two 7800 games with the same results. I know the games work because I have another 7800. Any suggestions on the issue?

Wico Boss vs Command Control (Robotron: 2084)
thetallguy24 replied to thetallguy24's topic in Atari 7800
I'm also open to any alternative controllers that are similar but of better quality/feel -
Looking to create a twin/dual controller setup for my 7800 for Robotron. I don't own either the Boss or Command Control, so I wondering which of the two any of you might prefer. I do want the firing button on the stick. Just seems a lot easier to play that way.

Does it perform the same as the Sonic 1 and 2 individual carts? Or were there any shortcuts?
