  1. I like the way you can use the turbo with the shoulder button on my SNES. Plus, I grew up on the SNES version.
  2. Looking into finding one of these. http://www.jammaboards.com/store/2019-in-1-games-king-multigame-jamma-pcb-kit.html Anybody ever used one and what do you think? Will it work with a super gun?
  3. So I know that a lot of games were exclusive to consoles or exclusive to arcades, but of those that were ported, which would you rather play? The arcade or console version? I know some games I prefer the arcade version because of the graphics and sound and the controls. But other games, I prefer using a console's controller over the arcades. Sometimes, there's also just the nostalgia of playing the consoles. What games would you rather play on the console and which games would you rather play on the arcade? My Partial list Arcade: Street Fighter and other fighting games Double Dragon and other beat em ups Raiden and other SHMUPS Most Atari games Racing games Console: Platformers like Super Mario Sports games like NBA Jam and RBI Baseball and Punch Out Strategy games like Bomberman Adventure games like Gauntlet
  4. Looking into getting an AV famicom. Since it has the multi out, can I used my SNES Scart cable on it?
  5. Were there just not that many 1v1 games outside of sports on the NES?
  6. Did the NES have any decent 1v1 fighting games? Not sure if I agree about Urban Champion being good
  7. What would you consider to be your top-5 or 10 games on the NES for playing 1v1? Please don't include co-op or turn based games. I'm just talking about playing against each other simultaneously. My top 5 would be: Blades of Steel RBI Baseball Nintendo World Cup Tecmo Bowl Super Dodgeball Of course, it seems most NES games that were 1v1 were sports related. What would you say were the best non-sports games that featured 1v1?
  8. One of the big differences between CD and cartridges was sound and graphics, and why I tend to think cartridges (HuCards to?) are what should be considered retro. Cartridges made each system unique, whether it was graphics or sound. With the move to CD's, it became harder to distinguish between consoles, sound and graphics were all the same. Sega, SNES, PCE, and even N64 were all unique because their cartridges and consoles for that matter offered characteristics that set them apart from competitors. With CD consoles after the Saturn, systems offered fewer and fewer exclusives and cross-system ports were practically the same. Street Fighter 2 has its own differences on the the Sega, SNES, and PCE, but Super Street Fighter 4 is nearly identical between the PS3 and 360. For some cross-system ported games, you may prefer it on the SNES, but others the Sega. That's what made these unique and retro. You could collect them all, and still have a uniqueness to them. They were also so simple, that anybody could play them and have fun. You don't need to spend hours learning the moves for Tecmo Bowl, but try picking up and trying to play Madden without reading the instructions.
  9. Any reason why? Won't that rule out the 32x and Neo Geo? Those releases are 21 and 24 years old, respectively.
  10. I was debating with someone over the whether or not the the PS1 should be considered a retro console. For some reason, I can't seem to place the PS1 in that category, while I tend to think of the Saturn and the N64 as retro. I think that has to do with the fact that the PS1 games could be continued to be played on the PS2 and PS3. What makes consoles and games retro to me, is that they aren't made anymore or that you are required to use the original equipment get the real experience (I know there's the Retron 5 and Virtual Console). What do you guys think? What systems are retro to you and why? Which aren't?
  11. Is it possible to get the MP3 of the title screen music? I want it as a ring tone
  12. "The Sharp MZ-2500 isn't exactly known as a great system for games, but its rendition of Xevious trumps all the other 8-bit versions." Anybody want to upvote that? lol
  13. I wasn't asking what you're favorite version was. That would definitely skew the results. I was asking which was more faithful to the arcade version, such as sound, sprites, gameplay, etc.
  14. Can you buy the screw-in thumbstick for the SMS controller anywhere? Was it ever even made?
  15. Yeah, I'm using the phono to rf adapter already
  16. What do you think is the closest to the arcade version? NES? 7800? Others?
  17. So I have three plasma TVs, one Panasonic 65" and 2 Samsung 43". I've tried playing my 7800 on the 65" but it keeps losing signal during the game on both channels for both 7800 and 2600 games. It plays just fine on both channels on the 43" TVs. I use the RCA -> RF setup. I don't have any CRTs to try it on, and don't really want to get one. Any suggestions?
  18. I've tried emailing best electronics twice but no response. Know any other places to get one besides eBay?
  19. Wish I knew. Clicked "Join" and it said they weren't accepting new members. http://nintendoage.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Site.Join
  20. Maybe it would be better to describe it as a hack. I'll let you, the experts, decide.
  21. Yes, I know this is mainly an Atari forum, but NintendoAge doesn't allow new members. I love F-ZERO for my SNES, but I hate how its only single player. I think if they had had a multiplayer option, it would have been considered one of the greatest games of all time. Has anyone tried to ever homebrew a SNES multiplayer version of the game? Is it even possible? I would buy one of those carts in a heartbeat.
