  1. It would be cool if we got a full on openworld rpg like Swordquest or we got Haunted House..... and it's actually terrifying. Resident Evil 7 type scary. But i think that might be too big a task for like 12 french guys.
  2. The answer is damn clear what the next game should have been..... but they no longer own it...... BattleZone I'd settle for Ninja Golf... but they sold that too. Red Baron, Major Havoc, or Liberator would all be sick
  3. Yes. They showed up at my door with this weird remote and simply said... "We would like to play" I closed the door. They knocked again. They repeated the phrase again and I let them in. Turns out it was Wii not We. It was fun. The end.

I cannot wait to have this. Again.
  6. Im willing to bet that 1 working prototype of the Sony SNES has more than a few things in common with what became PS1.
  7. Consoles don't just show up over night. Nor does the developer support for them. I will guarantee you PSX was a thing right after SNES launched. R and D... is no joke and is not cheap. It came out at the end of 94. Im willing to bet PSX was a working prototype that was stronger than the shitty attachment they may have been planning because now Ken Kutaragi was out for blood and probably added a couple of things to ensure all 3 got their asses kicked.... by mid 92.... not more than 6 months after Nintendo rejected them.
  8. To be fair Sony didn't have much to show for their partnership. Just a plan. A plan nobody believed in but in hindsight totally should have. But some developers, most likely the ones Sony successfully courted, in their secretive world tour.... knew exactly what they were getting because they were the ones who asked for all the shit that was inside of it.
  9. Yes Atari was approached with the same deal Sega and Nintendo were given. Atari said no thanks. Sega laughed and told them where to go Nintendo let them make a prototype, but ultimately said no. They believed their cartridges were really the answer.
  10. Ok but thats the f@#$%ing reality of it. Sony was rejected by all of them...Atari, Sega, and Nintendo. Sony had no plans going it alone initially. But if I saw it myself and had the money as an investor...... I would have put every cent I had into it and convinced them to go alone..... which they ultimately did in the end. I'm not speaking Chinese here.
  11. Sony only decided to go it alone after rejection.
  12. So Sony was shopping around what exactly around that time then? A CD attachment to keep playing the same games? Or a CD player to play music? The PSx's tech existed in some form if they wanted to partner with Sega or Nintendo. This thing was clearly going to be much different than the Sega CD.
  13. All we can agree on is Playstation crushed everything and everyone. And you can't launch a console over night. I'm just being real. You guys always give people shit for not understanding this place and some people who make and sell things here arent some corporation..... Welll the opposite is these other guys are corporations and this shit is much more thought out meticulous in planning when you have millions on the table and have investors to please.
  14. You know what never changes? The guys at the top who pay for all the teams and the equipment they use who most likely don't even give a shit about games to begin with. People act as if games are some favor to us. Its a business. To make money. Not bring you happiness and joy. Sure it can do that. But At the end of the day its the bottom line that matters. Nothing else. If I saw PS1......from some rich assholes perspective, compared to all the other things people have tried to get me to invest in up until that point. Like 3DO and lazerdisc and all garbage looks like complete shit by comparison. Im going all in on Playstation. I would have put the money up no questions asked. No one saw games like that before.
  15. And thats why one of the greatest video games of all time was moved from the 3DO in 94 to the PS1 where it went on to sell millions of copies. Metal Gear would have tanked on 3DO. Everyone who saw that first tech demo, jumped on PS1 immediately. You would have been stupid not to.
  16. In fact..... if SEGA didn't laugh in their face and tell them where to go first..... SEGA would be top dog if they took an honest look at what Sony was really bringing to the table.
  17. Nintendos biggest mistake was not partnering with Sony. And that mistake benefitted Sony the most.
  18. Not totally. But considering that to have a game ready for 94..... it had to be made prior to that..... and to have a game release for 95 that thing had to be made in 93 atleast. Or longer in some cases....MGS, RE, GT. There was clearly a shift. Is it a surprize the very best games of that generation were on PS1..... Saturn and 64 got shafted pretty much every step of the way. The real question to ask, was how many PS1 games were being worked on before anyone officially knew what it was and how far back was the first game that was being developed. Because If it was me...... I would have dropped everything for it as a developer. Whats the point of wastimg time releasing this game on SNES to move 250,000-500,000 units.... or get to work on this crazy console that does shit no one has ever seen before. To have games ready for 94 and beyond. You had to convince a large number of people to trust in your very first console. And the level of games that came out for it along with their development times kinda proves it. These guys moved on to making PS1 games while we were still debating if SNES or Genesis was better on the playground. Becuase I was hit completely by surprise. It was not on my radar at all.
  19. Numbers do not lie. This has been Sony's game since before it's actual release. Because getting the support needed to launch a console isn't some easy run of the mill task. Legitmately good consoles have died because: A. People didnt want to take the time to learn the complex hardware some of these complicated beasts were. B. Companies refused to support a good console because the numbers were off to them. Wii U is a prime example. It kicked ass. But nobody knew what the hell it was and developers who said they would support it quickly vanished when initial sales did not meet expectations. EA puts out a lengthy presentation about Ghost Recon on WiiU..... quickly denies the thing even exists or that presentation ever happened. Game development is big money and for Sony to get as much support as they did and as fast as they did mean the PSx's dominance was already written on the wall by SNES's launch.... those who knew of it saw it was the future. Nintendo was so worried it skipped an entire generation to try and sell you on perceived power that paled in comparison to a technically weaker 32 bit console ... Turns out 32 bits and a CD to hold massive amounts of data beats 64 bits on cartridge. Atleast it did then.
  20. While you were looking at numbers and sales.... i was the kid this shit was being sold to. As kids..... 90% of us had PS1 by 96. Some of us still heart broken over ehat happened to Saturn, quickly got over it when we saw what gaming could really be.
  21. When Resident Evil dropped... We all asked for Playstations for Christmas. The dweebs were waiting for N64. I witnessed a complete ass whooping of an entire industry.
  22. Nothing has been the same since and 3 out of 5 crossed the 100,000,000 mark soon to be 4. Nintendo has done that once with the Wii and might be able to do it again with the Switch. Excluding their known dominance of handhelds of course.
  23. The first console that was built 100% with developers in mind. They straight up travelled the world just to figure out what the worlds most prominent developers wanted in a console and gave it to them. This is why PSX disrupted the industry and is what I feel is definitely responsible for a decline if there was one....... because it's been nothing but a sharp incline since it took over the industry as #1 top dog in the console space right around this very time in question. In 92-93 the games were being worked on before any of us even knew Sony was making a console.
  24. And with population growth...... Nintendo struggled through most of the last 25 years to bring the fight to Sony. So has Microsoft outside of one lucky time....the 360.
