  1. Thank you everybody for also having issues on Mega Man 11! I got kinda frustrated, and I'm just on the normal difficulty. I got to the first stage of Wily's castle, tried a few times, and I haven't been back since. It's a great game on many levels, but it is VERY unforgiving. I'd say it's basically impossible without the slowdown (Speed Gear). Got very frustrated on several bosses as they go from "Holy balls this is hard." to "That was a pushover" (when using the weakness). MM11 aside... I mostly play some of the small indie titles that I feel are good for portability and also are easier to pick up and put down at random. Aside from the obvious AAA titles by Nintendo, I'd back the following games: Darkest Dungeon - Dungeon crawler with a lovecraftian edge. It's pretty challenging, but it's a lot of fun. Shovel Knight - Looooove Shovel Knight~ I'm waiting on the full collection physical release that's early next year, but you can get digital which is the full package now Blaster Master Zero - Just gonna throw another vote on this. Very fun. Sonic Mania - Some of the best Sonic since the Genesis days. It's so close to the original games you might feel confused. Freedom Planet - A nice "speedy" platformer (think Sonic) if you want more Sonic or something Sonic-like but not actually Sonic? Stardew Valley - Harvest Moon clone but better (than current Harvest Moon games). You farm, you explore, you mine, and make friends with the towns people. Octopath Traveller - Throwing another vote on this. It's great RPG action! Think a mix between Final Fantasy 6 and Bravely Default. Undertale - Kind of an odd-ball RPG. Combat does a "bullet hell" style similar to SHMUPs. This game is very much about the music, characters, and story. Cave Story - I mean... Nothing wrong with playing Cave Story again? Bayonetta / Bayonetta 2 - This is just a great package that contains two great games. It's Devil May Cry style (3D action beat 'um up with boss fights and minor platforming and puzzles?). Story is crazy but entertaining. That's all I can really think of at the moment. I am probably missing a few titles as I don't play my Switch as often as I'd like to. I'll list up more later if I can think of any.
  2. Nah, I think the smoothing effect is something built into the HDMI adapter. I believe the Xbox version of this did something similar. I had it briefly, but it did a lot of flickering so I got rid of the adapter. EDIT - I still like it for what it does overall. It could be better, but for the money and simplicity, you probably won't find anything better. Granted, a nice CRT or anything that uses S-video gives a pretty good picture from the PS1. If we wanted overkill, I do have an old security monitor that does composite...
  3. Okay! So lemme lay down the details and we'll get into my screenshots~ Pardon the lack of video, I don't have a video capture method and had to resort to pictures. Displays 55" 4K VizioColor settings are just the general "Gaming" one SCEPTRE Gaming LCD MonitorRunning through S-Video Systems Modded PS1 (SCPH-1001) Softmodded Fat PS2 Games Legend of Legaia (kinda random I know) Ehrgeiz (480i) Einhander (supposedly does 240p/480i swap in-game) Extra Details My phone's camera lightens things up a bit, so keep that in mind on the overly bright images. I chose to only do PS1 titles as that was my main focus. I'm up for testing some PS2 games if anybody has suggestions. I'll have to burn a copy of 240p Test Suite to test input lag at a later time. I'm no audiophile so can't truly judge audio. Sounded all fine to me though! All photos have been hastily edited together for ease of comparison. I had to resize them to avoid 50+ MB files. Originals are in gallery link at the bottom! First off, a look at what all you get~ PlayStation Startup Legend of Legaia Ehrgeiz - Only did PS1 from here on Einhander - Gameplay photos came out terrible, so I only have the menu and ship selection screens (in gallery) Pros Works Surprisingly Well - I realize this is a lazy pro, but it does very much work! Vizio TVs aren't the most compatible. Comes with Everything - HDMI Adapter, Micro USB, HDMI cable. Nice to get it all in one. Affordable - Compared to SCART setup. For me, $40 including shipping and tax. (Highly suggest Amazon for cheaper shipping) Great for HDMI setup - A nice choice if you're wanting a mostly / complete HDMI only setup. No 240p / 480i change issue - Now this one is pending, but I didn't see any timeout issues like you do on the Framemeister. Gonna double check with Chrono Cross tonight. Excellent Choice for PS1 - I mean that's self-explanatory. If you want a connection for PS1 specifically, this is great. Cons Stretches the Image - While it does stretch decently enough, it's definitely noticeable at times... Especially chubby Vahn. Colors are Better on PS2 Component - This isn't to say the HDMI colors are bad. PS2 looks a bit better. S-Video is my favorite but it's just a good monitor. Requires USB Power - Honestly? Not a huge con for me, but I understand those who have issue with this. Pointless for PS2 - Considering Component is very much available (even high quality ones), people who use a PS2 won't have any use for this unless you just prefer RGB over YpYbPr. Final Thoughts I like it. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a heck of a lot easier and cheaper than having to invest in a full SCART necessary setup. Granted, if you already have SCART or a great CRT TV, then stick with what you have. However, if you are thinking of focusing purely on PS1, this is an excellent choice. Affordable and ready to go! 4. I got the cable in today! I tried to take video, but I don't have any capture equipment and kept messing it up. I'll have pictures and a quick and dirty review up tomorrow when I get a chance! EDIT - I did the following titles (kinda randomly... up to other suggestions as I have a modded PS1). Legend of Legaia Ehrgeiz Einhander
  5. Final bump to get this gone. 100% free! (free shipping as well)
  6. Actually the DLC is all free! (essentially) Short version? The DLC isn't so much DLC as it's free updates and was meant to be in the game. Long version? Back during Kickstarter, there was a goal for "extra campaigns". They managed to make enough to plan for 3 extra campaigns where you play as some of the enemy knights in the same general setting but altered to work with their powers. The plan was to release the first and main campaign (now titled Shovel of Hope) and then slowly release the other 3 campaigns as updates as they are finished. This started off as the game just being "Shovel Knight" and owning the game digitally beforehand or physically (when released) gained you free updates to all the extra stuff. Eventually, they changed the name to "Treasure Trove" as a way to denote the entire selection of campaigns and extras but also to raise the price from the original (amazing) price of just $14.99 to it's more current incarnation of $24.99 (cause making free updates still costs money ._.). Still a great deal for that price, but they're planning to release a final, truly finish physical copy titled Shovel Knight Treasure Trove early next year for PS4 and Switch ($39.99). HOWEVER! Physical copies of the original Shovel Knight are generally priced around $20 and all physical copies of the game get a digital update that adds all the extra stuff! (I think I got my 3DS copy for like $12~) EDIT - Okay I looked around... It looks like $20 is a used copy for most places, but I bet you can find places with some copies at that price range or lower (depending on where you are and such)
  7. I'm gonna do my best to answer these! Honestly? Unless you have a preference of console, they're going to be nearly identical. I think the only benefit of the Switch would be co-op mode. I believe the 3DS has special competitive mode only on that version, but it's some weird time trial thing you compete for high scores in. The 3DS version also has some cool 3D effects that add some nice depth to the stage designs, but I wouldn't call them so amazing to choose that version specifically for it. 3DS locks your account to that device. You won't be able to simultaneously play the same digital copy on both. Each 3DS/2DS would have to buy their own copy. I looooooooove me some Shovel Knight, and I highly recommend getting it! If you greatly prefer it (and can wait), they are planning to re-release the physical version early next year as a Complete Package with everything on it (all 4 campaigns and the fight mode) for PS4 and Switch. Amazon Link for Treasure Trove (Nintendo Switch) Otherwise, you're stuck to a digital copy. The 3DS has a physical copy, but I think it's only the core game. However! That comes with free downloadable updates that adds everything else. Let me know if you have any other questions in this regard.
  8. Nobody has asked about it yet so it's yours! Message me and we can get shipping figured out~
  9. Added another item. Pictures will be taken later tonight.
  10. Xbox HDMI adapter sold! Minor price drop on Mega Man X6.
  11. Actually, looking over what he offers, these are actually pretty decent prices and variety! I'm no expert, but the soldering looks good. (Better than anything I'd ever do!) I still couldn't find any videos showing off the PS1 results. I don't think it'd be anything amazing, but I'm still interested to see it.
  12. Kind of related random find! I was looking to see if there was an HDMI project for the PS1 and came across the following link. https://www.etsy.com/listing/528592871/ps1-playstation-1-console-mod-chipped Looks really sketchy and questionable... Mostly because they don't offer any pictures showing it connected to a TV. <_<
  13. I know most people are passing this over, but I wanted to post that I've preordered it and will give my own opinions. I don't have video capture equipment, but I'll try to get footage and let people know what I think.
  14. For sale is just two items! Didn't feel like eBay at the moment, so starting here~ Prices do not include shipping! Xbox HDMI Adapter by Pound Technology SOLD! Mega Man X6 (game and manual only) - Moved to Freebies Thread
  15. Final items claimed! Thanks for your time.
  16. Forgive me if I'm wrong... but I thought they had "cracked it" but was just aiming for HDMI as it was the standard? The big deal about the component cable is the DAC in the huge bit near the GameCube. Someone was able to analyze it and get the data off of it and thus we have HDMI adapters for GameCube. That was my understanding anyways. Regardless, I'm glad to hear about this Carby one! It's cheaper and does exactly what I'd need. I was considering the EON one for all this time but kept being put off on the cost.
  17. Yes there is! You can buy physical copies for PS4, XB1, and Switch! (Only $30) I doubt PC has one though...
  18. One of the more unfortunate things is that the device doesn't support 480p. The company chose to have a wider support for PS1 titles by doing 480i or lower rather than 480p. Honestly? My biggest focus is a choice for the PS1 that isn't just SCART or "put it in a PS2/PS3". I have their Xbox version of this. It works well enough, but it has some flickering. Of course, I found out AFTER I bought it that some Xbox models just have issues with their adapter. -_-
  19. Heyo! The same company that did the HDMI for Xbox adapter (Pound Technology) is working on a PS1 / PS2 HDMI cable. For whatever reason, it's available for pre-order through Limited Run Games. (Not dogging on them, just seems an odd choice for this type of product.) https://limitedrungames.com/products/pound-technology-ps2-ps1-hdmi-cable Heavy Metal Jesus did a preview of it as well. What little I can see there, I'd gladly use this for a PS1 setup, but I would probably stick to component for PS2. Figured I'd share just in case you missed it during all the Mega Sg hype!
  20. Pound Technology is releasing a PS1/PS2 HDMI cable combo~ Preorder is available at https://limitedrungames.com/products/pound-technology-ps2-ps1-hdmi-cable

More interested in the Genesis HDMI cable they were designing. What happened with that?

This is the first I ever heard of that. I don't see it on the Products list so doesn't seem hopeful at the moment. :(

  21. Ooooh Yeah~ Analogue just announced the Mega Sg~ (Sega Genesis FPGA console) Too bad their site broke as soon as they did. lol

      deepthaw

Didn't the 32x need some kind of passthrough cable?

    2. Flojomojo

      Flojomojo

32X only drew the 3D polygon layer, and superimposed it with the Genesis output. That could be simulated in FPGA hardware. Seems likely Analogue didn't implement it if they aren't talking about it, which is a minor bummer. I guess we'll see when the site comes back up.

    3. ApolloBoy

      ApolloBoy

It can also play Game Gear games which I'm very excited about.

Just placed my preorder too, I recently got a Super Nt as a birthday present and love it, so this should be no different!

  22. There was a Pal Park feature in some of the regular NDS Pokemon games that allowed you to transfer from the GBA titles. Problem is they only let you transfer 6 a day (although there's some sort of work around).
  23. Glad to hear you got it done! Also simpler than we thought/realized. Makes me wonder if you can (without computer intervention) trade from Gen 1 to Gen 7... *goes to furiously research and then give up*
  24. I'm pretty sure there's a way to local trade. Problem is I don't remember the exact steps as they tend to change it a little between games... I have a copy of Pokemon X / Y. I'll check it when I get home as I know there's a way but it's not direct or obvious. Also there is a way to transfer Pokemon from the Game Boy Advance titles to a Nintendo DS title... But it is kind of complex. From what I recall without looking up, you have to use a special feature in the NDS title called Pal Park and transfer the Pokemon into that. Weird thing is you can only do this at a rate 6 Pokemon per 24 hour period. This is an option in Pearl / Diamond and Heart Gold / Soul Silver. Then you have to trade from Pearl / Diamond or HG / SS to either Black / White or Black 2 / White 2. THEN you use a transfer app to move it to the Pokemon Bank where you can officially bring it into the modern Pokemon 3DS titles. EDIT - Okay final edit hopefully! I did some looking up because I became curious as it seemed like a straightforward process... but it really isn't. You can trade with people locally, BUUUT you have to add them via the 3DS main OS bit. You go into the friends list and you can add people locally. Once you are friends with them there, you can go into the Pokemon game in question (X or Y) and should be able to connect with them locally. I'm unsure if you're able to do the 3DS friends without going online at any point (it says you can do local but I think it technically requires a friend code).
  25. This is... unexpected! I look forward to the full list coming soon~ I saw some comments on Youtube complaining that it's the original PS1 controller instead of the Dualshock 1. Not a big deal to me though since I actually love the original PS1 controller.
