I bought Stardew Valley back when it was first on PC. I've bought it again for the PS4 and Switch (digitally). It's a great game and an excellent time waster. Granted, I have a hard time pushing through the second year as it starts to feel more like chores than fun or interesting... ANYWAYS! I'd say it's a strong throwback to Harvest Moon while including some newer elements and upgrades. I'd love to compare, but I've only played "Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life" on the GameCube. Thus I can't really compare them. The problem with Harvest Moon is that the actual name is owned by a different group than the main one who works on it. The more official Harvest Moon games are now called "Story of Seasons". My understanding is that any more recent game with the name "Harvest Moon" should not be played.

I realize bumping this is pointless, but I thought I should say (and will add to the top of the post) that I'm gonna be disposing of these items in one way or another by next weekend. THUS! These items are only available until 9/23. After that, they're going to have a new home... even if that home might be a trash can.

Pokemon cards gone~ Removed from list.

BUMP! I added a few more items to this grouping. Probably got a few more as well.

I haven't done any import loading, but it looks like you can't just boot physical discs with it. Something about the drive not accepting out of region discs regardless of how you go about it. The only options to play out of region titles looks to be... 1. Hard mod like a chip 2. Swap trick (dunno the details) 3. Using Free McBoot combined with "ESR" to burn a modified copy 4. Importing a different region PS2 Every link I looked up showed those as the options. Thus... Free McBoot only works if you're willing to rip, patch, and then burn a new copy of the game. http://psx-scene.com/forums/f164/quick-esr-tutorial-118881/

So let me clarify this but try to be short and concise. Free McBoot is software that runs from the PS2 memory card. If you can either get it loaded on there OR have someone copy it for you, all you need is the PS2 Memory card loaded with Free McBoot. That works on both the fat and slim PS2s. I think there are a few odd models it won't work on, but I'm not 100% sure. If you're wanting to load "backups" with Free McBoot, that can be done via the hard drive slot on a fat PS2, USB port on either model (uncertain about details), or even over the network (read about it but haven't done it). EDIT - Sorry I should have added! I do have some experience with this. I'm not the best, but I will help as I can if you have more questions. (No promises >_<)

I'm gonna send a message as I'm curious what we're looking at for shipping before I consider it. -
Back during the 90s to even early 2000s, I'd say strategy guides are great. During the here and now... the internet (specifically GameFAQs) kinda ruins my feeling of wanting or needing a strategy guide. Granted, Pokemon is one of the few exclusions to this! And that's why Nintendo releases special editions of them! You spend $40 (on a $20 book) that's hardcover and looks nicer. The next problem is they tend to release TWO guides as well now for Pokemon. You get the "here's how to play through the game" guide, and then they release a second "Pokedex" edition that shows you levels, stats, how to evolve, and where to find them. IMO, you're better off using a site like serebii, smogon university, or the other various Pokemon specific sites.

Over use of the term "Launch Edition"
KeeperofLindblum replied to rasch_C's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Honestly, I always found it funny how you can still find "Day One" editions like years after their release. Seems kinda telling right? I'm all for the "Complete" ones, but I wish they wouldn't attach all the review scores on them like the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete. Thankfully, that one has a reversible cover that shows the same art but without all the words. -
Are Video Game Special Editions Worth It?
KeeperofLindblum replied to Games Retrospect's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The only time I ever liked a "special edition" was if it was basically just the regular edition with the metal case (and a regular case included) OR includes the soundtrack with the game. I'm kinda tired of seeing so many action figures and statues of games that don't really fit with having the action figure or statue. I mean I got the Bioshock 2 one (comes with a big ass case and some records) as well as the Bioshock Infinite one (came with a big Songbird statue). They're cool but... they just sit in a closet. IMO special editions are generally overrated if it is much more than a fancy case (steelbook) or a soundtrack added in. OH THAT IS RIGHT! The game Catherine had a really good one that was a pizza box, t-shirt, underwear, the game, and a few other small items. EDIT - Found an image to contribute. -
No. You have to save at save points, but nearly every screen of every area has a save point somewhere.

Eh it's not perfect but it makes for a kinda cool "fortress in the sky" attitude. Spawning can be kinda weird in game as they seem to spawn so long as they have a "ground" spot to do so at. I think once it's a "room" they can't spawn in it. If I still have any of the servers going, I might see if I can get a screenshot of what we (3 of us) made.

Funny thing is the game has a neat little trick (hack) to barricade yourself in. All you have to do is put two doors up next to each other. They have to break in by "bashing" the door in, but if two doors are right next to each other, they can't ever break the first door and remain stuck~ That and having your house be "floating" by simple destroying the connection to the ground.

I'd say it's a mixture of Bravely Default (in battle) and Final Fantasy VI (characters and such). The graphics have this really neat look of mashing 16-bit character models with a 3D background that's a mix of retro-style with some nice effects (especially water). It's a really fun game with loads of side quests, battles, and fun to be had. Each character has their own story, and you can (technically) play the entire game with just one character. The base of the game is going around and recruiting the other characters by playing their stories. As you advance, you can play more and more chapters of each character's story as you explore a fairly vast but straightforward area. The only downside is that none of the character's stories are strongly linked together. You basically have 8 interesting but unaffiliated stories. Also, the battles tend to rely on you using weaknesses to "stun" enemies and then beat their faces in. It's got a great selection of characters (each a different class) and at some point you can teach the classes across each character. All in all, it's a great little RPG that harkens back to SNES era RPGs in both look, design, and gameplay. Highly recommend it so that if nothing else Square Enix will stop pumping out super pretty games and focus on what people want... turn-based epics with great characters and story! EDIT The character classes are: Apothecary - Mix items to make fancier items! Cleric - Healing and Holy magicks Dancer - Buffing and Dark Magic Hunter - You can capture monsters and use them like Pokemon (albeit with limited uses) Scholar - Black Mage and Identifying Monsters Thief - You steal things Warrior - Warrior Each class is limited what weapons they can use, but they can equip multiple weapons and swap them mid-battle to use the proper one for an ability or attack a weakness.

I played through it a few times with a couple friends. I like it more than Minecraft, but that's because it had a little bit more combat stuff like bosses, guns, and fancy magic spells. That being said... I could never get into playing it by myself. It's a LOT of work to get anything usable, and there's so much stuff that without a guide or wiki you're gonna be lost on how and what to do in some place. Things like making it all the way down to Hell, starting the world conversion that changes all the resources, optimizing the placement of the creation items, the number of different creation items, and it can get a bit too complex after a while. I preferred playing on PC because the mouse allowed a bit more freedom of placement.

I just saw this on a random Youtube video not too long ago... Damn I want one, but I'm assuming it just came out recently and they're all dried up and gone for the moment.

IMO, the Darker Side of Moon was enough for me. I'm not interested in doing all of 100%. The "place the pieces on the face" alone part would have driven me nuts.

The Next Retrogaming Scam is Here! (G Blue)
KeeperofLindblum replied to godslabrat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Honestly, my favorite part is the randomly thrown in feminism shoutout. It's just randomly in the middle of it all. LOL (Not against feminism, it's just obvious it was thrown in to grab attention.) -
Well just in case anybody was wondering, here's my 2 cents on the game so far. I do like the overall style of play and feeling something akin to Ghosts n Goblins with a seasons twist. The story is interesting and fun enough without any kind of forced deepness. (Don't need it!) Unfortunately, my liking kind of ends there... All of the attacks are handled with a single button and you are forced into whatever attack you are currently positioned for. If you're standing still or moving left or right, you fire the crossbow. If you hit up or down or are jumping, you are using the bayonet. This means close attacks have to be either low or high. I'm not sure why you couldn't have just had two different attack buttons. The "seasons changing" is a good gimmick, but I don't feel it does enough. I may have misunderstood the trailer, but I was lead to believe you can switch between any of the four seasons on any stage, but you're locked to one season per stage. (IE the season it starts on and the one you can change to) On top of this, the season doesn't seem to do that much for what's actually going on. It tends to only affect one aspect of the stage. First stage lets you change Spring to Winter, but all that really does is freeze the water. The seasons changing is also a magic power as well, so it takes magic. This would be fine if the season was more optional, but there are entire segments you can only do with the seasonal power. It's not like they can be abused very much, so this seems silly. It thankfully regenerates, but the regeneration line is pretty small and can limit your window of progress. The levels have a weirdness to them. They can feel a bit too long as you progress further in the game. There is only something like a 16 levels in the game as far as I can tell. Four levels per season, but one of those is a boss fight and the last one is a bonus level you have to unlock. Also you will have to constantly revisit a level as you get new abilities that unlock a few extra path (IE different magic arrows for shooting at similar colored target boards). It's the only way to collect enough to move on in the game as well! Not a huge fan of completely changing the game style either. There is a weird SHMUP level where you only have 1 Heart (read 1 Hit). I can't say I was a huge fan of this level, but it did use the seasons mechanic a bit better. All this said, it's a decent looking game with an interesting style and more or less works with what it's going for. Just wish some things were done better? I'm also willing to admit that I'm not very good at the game, so I realize that's affecting my opinion a little bit. I want to like the game, but I feel it's kinda meh.
