The Next Retrogaming Scam is Here! (G Blue)
KeeperofLindblum replied to godslabrat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Honestly, my favorite part is the randomly thrown in feminism shoutout. It's just randomly in the middle of it all. LOL (Not against feminism, it's just obvious it was thrown in to grab attention.) -
Well just in case anybody was wondering, here's my 2 cents on the game so far. I do like the overall style of play and feeling something akin to Ghosts n Goblins with a seasons twist. The story is interesting and fun enough without any kind of forced deepness. (Don't need it!) Unfortunately, my liking kind of ends there... All of the attacks are handled with a single button and you are forced into whatever attack you are currently positioned for. If you're standing still or moving left or right, you fire the crossbow. If you hit up or down or are jumping, you are using the bayonet. This means close attacks have to be either low or high. I'm not sure why you couldn't have just had two different attack buttons. The "seasons changing" is a good gimmick, but I don't feel it does enough. I may have misunderstood the trailer, but I was lead to believe you can switch between any of the four seasons on any stage, but you're locked to one season per stage. (IE the season it starts on and the one you can change to) On top of this, the season doesn't seem to do that much for what's actually going on. It tends to only affect one aspect of the stage. First stage lets you change Spring to Winter, but all that really does is freeze the water. The seasons changing is also a magic power as well, so it takes magic. This would be fine if the season was more optional, but there are entire segments you can only do with the seasonal power. It's not like they can be abused very much, so this seems silly. It thankfully regenerates, but the regeneration line is pretty small and can limit your window of progress. The levels have a weirdness to them. They can feel a bit too long as you progress further in the game. There is only something like a 16 levels in the game as far as I can tell. Four levels per season, but one of those is a boss fight and the last one is a bonus level you have to unlock. Also you will have to constantly revisit a level as you get new abilities that unlock a few extra path (IE different magic arrows for shooting at similar colored target boards). It's the only way to collect enough to move on in the game as well! Not a huge fan of completely changing the game style either. There is a weird SHMUP level where you only have 1 Heart (read 1 Hit). I can't say I was a huge fan of this level, but it did use the seasons mechanic a bit better. All this said, it's a decent looking game with an interesting style and more or less works with what it's going for. Just wish some things were done better? I'm also willing to admit that I'm not very good at the game, so I realize that's affecting my opinion a little bit. I want to like the game, but I feel it's kinda meh.

Man... if I had the money, I would be jumping on that Dreamcast without a second thought. >_< EDIT - Not saying to drop the price as (IMO) it's already a great spot! Just being envious. XD

I'm not amazing at this, but most of these look awful sketchy. Are these supposed to be Japanese or European? The MKII having the character selection on the cart seems odd. Taz-Mania seems to cut off the "Super Nintendo" words at the very end. Batman Returns doesn't look legit at all (based on the cover art). The only surefire way is to open them up as you can confirm based on the PCBs, but I don't think these are legitimate.

I mean... I only have two things to say at this moment. 1. The giant video on front just kinda irks me as it loads up and is IN YOUR FACE, but that's just commenting on the site. 2. What makes this service more appealing than dozens (if not hundreds) of methods or sites for getting roms and emulators? You can ignore the first statement, but I feel the second one would warrant an answer...

Questions Super Everdrive China Ver. V1
KeeperofLindblum replied to gamerfan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm gonna go another angle on this... 100,000 is a surprisingly large number of writes when you really think about it. I mean even if you are writing 100 games a day... You're getting something like 1,000 days of writing. That's around 3 years and a surprisingly good life considering the circumstances. Like previously stated, the amount of cost to extend the life probably isn't worth the effort if you can even do it. -
Linking two PS2 Slims?
KeeperofLindblum replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
No problem on the pics! I was interested to see how well it works. It's pretty cool stuff. How badly would you want this PS2? I'm up for an odd trade (IE flat trade plus cost of shipping). PM me if you want to discuss options. -
Linking two PS2 Slims?
KeeperofLindblum replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
For all 2 or 3 of you who cared, I finally got the cable in! I hooked everything up, and it's actually pretty cool. It was all very quick and pretty painless. I will say though... the cable I found was super short and kinda hard to plug in. The shape of the plug is weird and a weirdly tight fit. On top of that, I think it's only like 3-4 feet long, so I had to place the units almost right next to each other. The only setup I could do for this was my HDTV with one PS2 on component and an odd security monitor CRT with composite. (Despite what it is, it's got a good picture.) All of the games worked well enough, and it's a pretty cool experience. However... It's incredibly impractical. The best case scenario is two decent CRTs, Time Crisis 2/3 with Guncons, and the space plus plugins that will fit it all. I'm kinda glad I only used like $50 to try this all out (mostly the cost of buying two copies each of three games). If you have the space and games AND consoles, it's pretty cool. However, I can't see dedicating an entire setup to this. EDIT - Attached a couple pics just to show it. Not much footage just showing the setup. (Sorry for dark room) EDIT 2 - Oh yeah! I figured I should mention. I bought the cable on eBay, and there was someone selling an extender device for this, but that means you'd have to buy two cables and the extender, so you're putting quite an investment in for like 20 games or so. -
Bought a PSP from FujiSkunk. Great pricing, shipping was well priced. Sent very quickly and effectively! Everything arrived nicely bundled too. Would buy from again~

Linking two PS2 Slims?

So I'm a step closer! I picked up Armored Core 2, ATV Offroad Fury 2, and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec. Just gotta wait for the cable to come in now... -
Another quick eBay code... 15% off $75+
KeeperofLindblum replied to slab0meat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
You're all good. I just keep seeing these popping up, so it doesn't seem like it'll just be a few codes and done. I figured it's worth having a dedicated thread as a lot of people take advantage of this deal. Could also subscribe to that and be informed every time it happens EDIT - Yes I did see the link up above~ -

Considering this keeps happening, shouldn't someone just make a specific thread for it and bump it as it happens? Seems silly to keep making individual threads as this is happening like once a week now. -
Linking two PS2 Slims?
KeeperofLindblum replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I just ordered the cable! I'll have to get a couple copies of Armored Core and maybe another cheap title and see how well it works. (Cheap as I'll need two copies of each game.) No CRTs or otherwise I would consider Time Crisis instead. Course the bigger problem there is finding the Guncons... -
Linking two PS2 Slims?

Huh. I didn't know about this until I saw this thread. I just checked and turns out I have two PS2s with this port on them. I wonder how long those Firewire cables are... EDIT - I now have a plan to do this so I can discuss it once it's done, but I'll have to buy the cable. It will be a few days. Gonna test it with Armored Core. -
"GameStop Enters Sellout Talks"
KeeperofLindblum replied to Austin's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I like several ideas about GameStop, but what I hate is how much is dedicated to not-game stuff now. I really only stop by because I know a few guys who work there well enough to chat with them. Beyond that, I just keep stopping in with hopes of a good sale (Buy 2, Get 1 Free), or seeing something marked down to a decent enough price. Otherwise the place is pretty garbage and is generally a waste of my time and money. -
What are you playing on your Switch?

(physical) Limited Run Games approved to make Switch games

So they're finally listing some proper AA material... I'll probably grab Golf Story if I don't miss the sale. EDIT - Oceanhorn is another good release they brought up. It is actually pretty good and gave me a "Wind Waker" vibe when I played the demo. Considering they'll keep restocking it, I might have to get that as well. Oceanhorn Pre-Order They have an initial preorder that'll ship out within a month, but the next batch isn't available until later this year. -
I had a hard choice between PS1 and PS3. I greatly enjoyed the PS3's time out... but I also bought a LOT of PS1 classics, so I'm gonna have to give the PS1 my vote. I wasn't a huge PS2 person, but I did enjoy the bounty of RPGs it gave! (Much like it's father the PS1 before it)

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee!
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Nintendo Switch
I guess I'm just being finicky on it because I was hoping for more of a "main series" title than this. I'll probably consider getting it as it'll be interesting to see how they do it. Worst case I figure I'll wait for another main series entry. My understanding is that they're still planning that for the Switch, but this title is coming first. Now as for actual details, I read that the "Let's Go" isn't going to have all the online features like the average Pokemon game has had for the last few gens. It'll have a way to trade and battle online, but my understanding is that it won't be like the GTS (Global Trade System). -
Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee!
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Nintendo Switch
I'm fine with the idea of simplifying the catching process, but I think my problem is... This feels more like "Pokemon Go Switch Edition" than a legit Pokemon game. It's probably sort of a final boost to try and keep Pokemon Go relevant. As long as it's not a full priced game, I could accept the issues I have with it. (IE if it's more than $40 then I'm out) -
Anybody else seen the trailer for the new Pokémon title for Switch? I got the email about this last night, and... I have mixed feelings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE__VEUxLvI

Is There Too Many YouTubers?
KeeperofLindblum replied to NinjaWarrior's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I mean the only comment I really have on this is... (Warning, it gets really weird partway in so not for everybody!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrGrOK8oZG8 -
I had to look it up, but there was an episodic remake of the game "Moon" for the 3DS. I played a little bit of it. It was interesting, but I think what I played was a demo and never went back. It's called "Moon Chronicles" on the 3DS.
