  1. I try to fix what I can, but my soldering skills (and equipment) leave a lot to be desired.

If I can't fix it, I attempt to sell or give away what I can. Kinda hate when I feel like I'm giving away good things and somehow still get an ordeal just giving It away.

If those just absolutely fail... I tend to just hoard the broken/unwanted item for ages. Eventually it's just going to get tossed though. I really hate throwing things away like that, but at some point, many items just have no value to anybody.

  2. I'm thinking for emulation. Does the Vita do the same thing on the PSP level?

The Vita can do a softmod for emulation, but it has to be an older firmware (everywhere I see says 3.60 or earlier).

Otherwise you're locked out... I thought I'd hack a PSTV, but it was just a few versions too new. My understanding is your best bet is some newer Vitas (if you go this route) as they wouldn't have the latest firmware installed. If you pick up a used Vita, you might ask what firmware it's currently on!

No idea how accurate or how well they perform, but I'd imagine it'd be pretty well since the Vita is an Android adaptation. I'd say the PSP is the safest bet as I believe it can be fully softmodded at about any firmware and even up to the latest.

  3. This is pretty cool, but I question the sustainability of a gaming arcade in this day and age?

I realize that most of them make their money by selling other things (alcohol and etc), but I'd almost like to see a straight up arcade that's only an arcade and less of the "partycade" with points/tickets OR a "barcade".

I'm more concerned with the partycade style since those tend to have terrible ticket spitting out games rather than actual video games. Barcade is quite a bit more acceptable just wish it wasn't so necessary to keep the business alive...

  4. Just a heads up to anybody interested, Bayonetta 1 & 2 collection only has Bayonetta 2 on the actual Switch cart.

Bayonetta 1 is a digital download with a code AND there's a chance your code won't work... I bought mine from Amazon, and I had to call Nintendo to get a new code.

It's a known issue, but it's something I wanted to give a heads up to anybody purchasing it! Going to post this here and on the "WiiU Games to be ported" thread.

  6. Yeah, well when all of them need the same part there isn't much swapping going to happen. I'll put them in a huge lot on Craigslist and say make offer. They can deal w/the garbage.

    True dat!

...didn't you make clocks at some point? Wouldn't it be possible to do some sort of silly "PS1 Clock" that uses the system to house the clock bits or something? Either hide the face under the top opening piece or on the opening piece itself? Just a thought~

I realize there's not really a way to mount it, but you'd probably find someone interested in the weirdness of it.

  7. Being as I've never done it myself, I'm just going based off what my own previous understanding is and a bit of Google-Fu.

The only replacements I seem to find for PS1 CD drives are Chinese made, and my understanding is those suck. The pirces I saw were like $15-20, and you can buy a full PS1 for that price. The usual thing I see suggested is to just "buy another one and swap the parts". I think there are just so many of them and so cheap that a true "replacement" isn't really viable for a cheap amount. Basically buying a pile of them and swapping parts and cases seems the route here. Unsure about the PSOne as I can't find any concrete info on it.

From what I can see, the Original Game Boy (DMG) has the LCD pretty hardcore built into the motherboard itself. I can't seem to find a reliable replacement for just it. Apparently there's a heavy amount of soldering involved to remove one and then put a new one in. Another case of "Find a good one and swap it out".

Seems like both of those consoles feature the same issue... Replacement isn't suggested. Just swap it.

  8. I realize the majority here uses RetroPie, but there are a few alternatives if you want to check.

A brief warning: I haven't used either of these, so I can't really add any input.

https://www.recalbox.com/ - This one is supposed to be super easy and little effort, but you lose a lot of configuration capability that you have with RetroPie.

http://www.lakka.tv/ - This is basically an OS Build of RetroArch (IE what RetroPie is using behind EmulationStation). It would probably offer the largest variety you could want, but I have a feeling the support is slightly less than RetroPie and frontend would lose some zazz.

  9. Bump buuuump!

I didn't realize how overpriced I had the Skyward Sword. I've knocked it down $20 and willing to work out offers on here.

eBay link will remain the price it is, but I'll go lower on here for AtariAge members!

  10. Well crap! I didn't know they expired.

You don't really get many Gold Coins as is, and now I am going to lose 20 of them before the end of the month... A lot of their rewards aren't that great either. :(

Anybody want a 20-30 gold item off My Nintendo?

I'm fine redeeming and sending the code. I just can't find anything that's worth it for me, and I'll lose the coins on the 28th as is.

FYI at this amount, it's mostly discounts on various titles. There's a few themes as well I think for this amount.

  11. I've gone ahead and went back to the stock firmware (currently 4.1) on mine. I'm going to wait for an update to go back to the jailbreak firmware.

I figure someone will get this tackled eventually, and then I can take advantage of it again! I already enjoy it greatly for what it does stock, so adding the ability to side load roms was really just a huge benefit.

Although I do wonder... Maybe the Super NT's SD reader was setup to prevent the piracy for this very case?

I mean... It works with flash carts, but with the jailbreak firmware, it can essentially be its own flashcart. It kinda ruins the business for actual flashcarts as you could buy this for the cost of the SD2SNES and already have it built in. (I realize the current jailbreak is closer in terms of capability to the Super EverDrive though.)

  12. I have been on the fence about this (though I missed the original announcement). I see they are out of stock now except for the all black version (color choice isn't a huge deal).

Will there be a 2nd production run or is that it.

I am also wondering if it is worth it since I have an original console+everdrive+xrgb mini (which gets used for other stuff).

Short Version - They've already announced and sold out the second run.

The first run was any preorders before their original release.

Their second run released mid/late January, and my understanding is the second run is already sold out.

I would assume they're going to keep producing batches so long as the hype and demand is alive. It'll probably get slower as the year goes on though I'd imagine.

  13. I'd like to throw my own experience with Kickstarter in the ring because I've probably had more Kickstarter experience than the average person... I've backed 46 projects. Of those 46 projects, I'd say around 30 of them have actually delivered. I've given as much as $135 and as little as $15. The full amount I've given over the entirety of my Kickstarter life is $1,642. I've backed mostly video games, but I have also given to web comic books, music albums, a plush, and more! There are around 5-6 projects I've completely written off because I know they are never going to deliver.

The first project I backed (Super Retro Squard) is probably the biggest failure among those as it completely shit itself. That goes back to 2013.

The second biggest one would be Mighty No 9. I gave to them... twice. :( I have all my rewards at this point (about 2 years later than I should have), and that game was just a general disappointment.

One of the best ones I've backed has become one of my all time favorite games... You may have heard of it? Shovel Knight. Without Kickstarter, we may have never gotten Shovel Knight. If anything is an argument FOR Kickstarter, it is that game. There's other success stories like Kung Fury (getting a sequel!), Hyper Light Drifter (another great game!), Project Eternity (now called Pillers of Eternity), Shantae Half-Genie Hero, Moon Hunters, Children of Zodiarcs, Shadows of Adam, and probably several more that I never backed. (Sorry I just wanted to promote some of the ones that I both backed and delivered as they're all pretty great games!)

I backed one project where the person running and designing it took the money and run! (Goblins: Alternate Realities. Card game for a popular web comic Goblins.) There was one project that included "Triple A staff to make the RPG you all want!"... Project Phoenix. That one quickly became a lie and a shitshow as they proceeded to neither make the game promised or even try to deliver. They're still working on it, but I doubt I'll even play it when I get it. Story War completely succeeded, but then the company went completely under after they delivered... Like 6 months to a year later. I could go on and on, but I won't.

As moycon stated, Kickstarter is a risk, and anytime you invest your money, you are risking something. However, I have learned a few things before putting anything into a Kickstarter. I realized there were projects I should have put more into, projects I shouldn't have cancelled backing, and projects I should have just walked away from. I could make all sorts of suggestions about what to and not to do, but honestly? I'd say Kickstarter is kinda done. What few real projects came along have already been done and finished. It seems most projects from there can't be trusted anymore.

EDIT - Sorry I keep editing to clarify and better state some parts of this.

  14. Did I respond in time? Probably not.

Yeah I wasn't trying to be crappy about it or nothing. I just thought people were watching this thread and might respond in time. I was actually there another 30 minutes and still would have been happy to grab it.

I can always check back in a few days and see if it is still there. I know that Wal-Mart pretty well and they aren't a huge gamer outlet (IE not selling a lot of games in general).

  15. Bumpity bump bump!

I've generally decreased prices and bundled remaining Wii games. (Twilight Princess pending)

I'm in for $9.00. If you can do that pm me your PayPal info.

I sent you a PM late last night on this.

EDIT - Sorry for all the bumps! I won't bump again til Monday at soonest.

  16. I always have this exact conundrum with Capcom...

I hate how they do some things, but then I realize I have to choose one of two paths:

    1. Support any Mega Man game (or other likable Capcom series) in hopes of getting more and better games in that series.

    2. Don't support Capcom's generally lazy cash grabs because they should put more effort in.

I tend to go the former rather than the latter because I'd rather put money in with hopes of enough support bringing about more games I actually want. Then I start thinking "but I'm supporting lazy business tactics!" and keep going around and around until I just don't know what to do...

I JUST WANT MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3 ALL RIGHT!?!?

  17. How much for Twighlight Princess shipped to 39042?

Not at home to get the exact figures, but I figure close to $4.50 first class.

I doubt it would get more than $5, but it won't be less than $4. I can figure exact amount when I get home.

So you're looking around $9-10 shipped.

  18. Looks like Capcom might be splitting up their upcoming Mega Man X Collection into two halves. The Australian ratings board has ratings up for a Mega Man X Legacy Collection and a Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2.

Not at all a fan of splitting this up, so I'm probably just going to pass. I'm very happy with the original collection for the GameCube and don't believe I missed out on anything by never playing Mega Man X7, so I'll probably just buy Mega Man X8 on the PS2 instead.

Tough to see a collection of the last four X games being a strong seller, so I bet it won't even get a physical release.

...How would they even split them up though?

I mean you can't do straight down the middle. That would leave X1 thru X4 (the best ones) on the first collection and make the second one nearly pointless. (X5 and X6 okay. X7 and X8 not really)

If you do X1 thru X6 on the first collection, that's even worse! You'd be leaving X7 and X8 by themselves. I'm hoping the X collection might have a few extra titles to help balance the collections because I'm not sure where they'll draw the line.

At least it looks like Capcom is doing it the right way on the Switch for the original Mega Man series. The ESRB has reviewed a Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 release with all 10 games for the Nintendo Switch.

Hopefully we get this one on a cartridge.

I already own and don't play the first two collections, but I'd be cool supporting again for both on a single cart.~ (IE how it should have been on discs. lol)
