I like it. I'm happy that it's basic Mega Man style with an upgrade and modern look. It kinda looks like the early screenshots for Mighty No 9 before it became... what it did. They announced this today on their big 30th Anniversary livestream alongside Mega Man Legacy collections getting a Switch release and a Mega Man X Collection (X1 thru X8) coming out for all the consoles and PC.

Okay I realize it's been some time, but I think I might know what you had wrong possibly? I happened to plug my HDMI modded GameCube into an older HDTV (an old 42" Vizio with older HDMI ports). When I initially loaded it up... Super Mario Sunshine looked blocky as crap. I was thinking I had somehow damaged it moving it around, but then I found out what was wrong... For me, I had to disable the "Enhanced DVI mode" option in the GCVideo options. I'm not sure why or any of the details on this, so please don't ask me. However, turning "Enhanced DVI" off made it look remarkably better. I didn't test this with a lot of games, but it was a dramatic difference for Super Mario Sunshine. For my GameCube, I get to it with a button combination, but I believe those of you using the adapter have to access it via a remote. Might check and see if it's on. If you turn it off and it improves... then huzzah! Only problem with this is that "Enhanced DVI mode" is also the only way to get audio over HDMI. If you disable it, you'll have to plug in a regular Nintendo A/V cable to get audio out of it. Hopefully this helps someone out who might be experiencing this issue.

I'm pretty sure the main reason for the Dark Souls comparison is the difficulty. It's too easy to just call it hard anymore. Gotta use slang like "Man this is SOULS hard!" Having played it... It's definitely closer to Contra as stated, but that's kind of a given seeing as the gameplay is basically pile of bosses with a handful of "Run N Gun" levels. It's pretty challenging though and will make you work for it. I haven't played it in a while cause I'm stuck on the last area before the Devil. Screw that robot. -_-

When I worked at a Wal-Mart in Oklahoma, we got all the flashbacks for the holiday season... and then never again! We got a full box of Sega, Atari, Intellivision, and Colecovision. The Sega and Atari ones sold out, but we never really moved the other two... (This was a couple years ago. I don't work there now).

SWISS is backup loading software for the GameCube. You can use it to run backups, homebrew software, and I think you can launch physical discs from it and force options on them (like resolution and other things).

I can confirm from my testing earlier that if you force 480p via SWISS. It'll automatically bring up the Progressive Scan option. Otherwise you are 100% correct on this.

How are you booting the game? Are you "backup loading" via SWISS or using a real disc? SWISS can force it to 480p, and that's what I'm using. I loaded up Super Mario Sunshine on my Vizio 4k TV, and the color seems fine. I haven't done much adjustment other than setting Game Mode on the TV, turning sharpness down, and turning the scanlines off of GCVideo. (If I have scanlines enabled, it's hella darker.) I can take a couple pictures if you'd like an idea of what mine looks like.

Are you sure that you booted up Super Mario Sunshine in progressive scan? You have to hold B on bootup, or it won't do it. (Not doubting just double checking) I can take a look at my HDMI Gamecube's output when I get home and see what I have for settings. (I've mostly used it to play Super Mario Sunshine.)

Killer is Dead is actually a full different title from Suda 51. It's got a similar style to Killer 7, but it's a hack and slash title with some weird dating stuff? It's a good game, but it's kinda forgettable. I just figure I should always share anything I see free on here.

I can also confirm I got a Kinivo like this (might be an older model), and I feel it works really well. I did also run into the issue stated by godslabrat below. For whatever reason, my WiiU (when I had it) tended to grab the attention of the auto switching over my PS4. lol

Having worked previously at a Wal-Mart in electronics. I can confirm a good portion of the middle paragraph is right. Even if you see them stealing, you can't actually deter them or point the finger at them. You have to inform the AP (asset protection) people, and they go after it. I'll be honest though... Our AP people were always super obvious and like wore the same getup every day. If you shop a place like that daily and learn the people and routes... It wouldn't be hard to steal stuff. I will say breaking those game cases would be fairly easy, but it's gotta be uber noisy as well. I can tell you the average Wal-Mart person is kinda uncaring in that capacity and probably wouldn't look into this generally. I don't think our store had any dummy cameras though. Pretty sure all of them had a camera in them. I could be wrong though as I rarely visited the AP office. Final thought here... I'm unsure how they couldn't have spotted the people putting the masks on (unless I'm misunderstanding it). Sounds like they put the masks on after they got in the store. If they came inside with masks on, they'd be considered super suspicious then and there. If they put them on AFTER coming in... I feel like there would be footage somewhere of that. Even if they went to the Halloween aisle and grabbed something there. Enough cameras and time to be able to spot SOMETHING.

Apparently I shouldn't have thrown the word "authentic" in my post near the front... I wasn't saying it with any sort of snobby or elitist intent I promise. That's just generally what people want with CRT. The authentic experience of what the consoles were originally designed for. There's a reason CRT looks proper with these old systems... They were built with CRT TV setup in mind. That's not to say LCD is incorrect or wrong in any way... It's just that they were originally intended to connect to CRT TVs with the blur and zero input. Either way, get what suits ya! I'm fine with breaking free of an upscaler, but I don't feel like investing in a CRT setup either. Maybe if I could get one for basically nothing with little effort... (IE not finding random craigslist ads or anything along that line.) Basically it's gonna have to be I trip over it or get the random chance of it.
