Vagrant Story & Framemeister
KeeperofLindblum replied to Poeskas's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Turns out I already had a copy burned! I put it in... and it looks like the only 480i content in the game is the main menu. Everything else seems to be 240p. Now I only played like 20-25 minutes of it, but it seems the basic gameplay and the pause menu is all 240p. -
New Gamecube HDMI adapter
KeeperofLindblum replied to Punisher5.0's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Someone informed me of this on the thread I started so I thought I should pass it on. You can't get 480p out of the GameCube unless it comes out of the digital port. Composite & S-Video only support up to 480i. The adapter might do some kind of upscaling, but it's going to be kinda limited. I love the GameCube, but getting the best signal only has expensive options. -
Super Retron HD announced
KeeperofLindblum replied to Atariboy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've actually got a Retro AVS heading my way if it EVER gets here... I ordered back in like June/July and apparently it's still shipping from China. Looking at mid-September at earliest. T-T I guess I was just hoping that someone had ideas or thoughts going into an HDMI mod for the SNES. I looked around after posting what I did, and I guess the main issue of accomplishing this is how the video signal is processed by the SNES. If I read it right, the signal doesn't really come out digital at any point, (My electronics knowledge is like non-existent so please be gentle.) and so you have to end up adding some kind of converter in the process to get this done. guess I'll just have to live with the HD Retrovision Component Cables I have... that my TV doesn't like, so I still have to use my Framemeister. -_- That certainly looks "Dendy". -
Vagrant Story & Framemeister

If glazball doesn't respond back first, I can burn a quick copy and play on my chipped PS1. I won't be able to do this until Saturday evening though. -
Sonic Mania First Impressions
KeeperofLindblum replied to game_escape's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I couldn't wait and went ahead and bought Sonic Mania today. Only got to play through the first world before I had to stop... It's pretty great. Definitely for those who loved the old school Sonic and want more. Makes Sonic 4 look like garbage comparatively. I just hope we don't get another single winner like we did with Sonic Generations. I know Sonic Forces is supposed to be a sequel to it, but I just wish Sega would pick something and stick with it. -

Now I just want someone to do an HDMI SNES mod... Anybody know if that idea is in the works? -
New Gamecube HDMI adapter
KeeperofLindblum replied to Punisher5.0's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm with Tanooki on that one. There's a couple people working on HDMI output for GameCube in general, but most of them are fairly well focused on HDMI. The only alternate option I've seen is BadAssConsoles is offering an RGB and VGA output, but that guy got overly swamped with orders some time ago plus trying to perfect what he wants. (Link here but I wouldn't buy) I don't think they're going to look at component since it's kind of a weird middle spot right now. Older TVs don't always have component except some of the later models before we moved on to typical HDTVs as they are now. A lot of the more recent and modern HDTVs might only have one component spot at best. HDMI is basically king right now. It'd be awesome for someone to do a clone component cable for all of this, but it's kind of a limited audience wanting HDMI GameCube as is. -
Vagrant Story & Framemeister
KeeperofLindblum replied to Poeskas's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm away from home or otherwise I'd test it. The basic version I can say without playing the game and seeing how much switching goes on is this... The Framemeister does NOT like switching back and forth between interlaced and progressive. I believe it's especially prevalent in games that have 480i menus and then switch to 240p graphics. (Chrono Cross, Pokemon Stadium, and many others do something like this.) Generally the games are fairly playable, but it's kinda annoying that your screen flashes off for a couple/several seconds while it does this. That being said... I'm unsure of how much of Vagrant Story is 240p and how much is 480i (assuming based on what it most likely is changing back and forth to). I know the majority of the game would probably be the 240p and would be fine, but everytime you enter the main menu or possible a pause menu, it would flash off briefly. I don't think that would make Vagrant Story unplayable, but it could get downright annoying. Unfortunately, I only have Vagrant Story as a PSOne Classic on my PS3, so I'd have to burn a copy to try this out. I'm willing to, but I'll be gone for a few days before I can do it. Hope this is at least mildly helpful? -
Sonic Mania First Impressions

I'm reaaaally wanting this, but I'll have to wait until next pay to get it. I'll be honest... I kinda forgot about this for the longest time and only remember seeing hints recently. The opening animation really did it for me though and got me super hyped. (Although it's almost irrelevant since no gameplay. lol) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA9zwpMj_8A -
StarCraft Remastered in 4K
KeeperofLindblum replied to SpiceWare's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I picked up Starcraft for free on Battle.net, but this looks like quite an upgrade. I'd be willing to toss $15 to it for the even greater improvement! I only played a bit of Starcraft back in the day, and I was never great at RTS. I should probably give it another shot. -
Final bump! After Friday, everything is being pulled down and going to eBay or elsewhere.

Removed some items. Created bundle pricing for what's left. Have a Game Boy bundle, Nintendo bundle (N64 + SNES), and Sega Genesis bundle.
-
Ah! I believe I did see that message on a later batch... Makes sense. I'd argue the exact opposite would be better where you can order 1 at first and then they open to multiple copies later after everybody has at least had the chance to get one. Of course, my mind has completely exited the idea of the collector mindset. I never saw a reason to keep an unopened copy of something.

Final bump! Removed a lot of extra stuff, final markdowns on most items. Everything is set in-stone price-wise except the PlayStation Undergrounds.

Dedicated Video Game Music Sites
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That's pretty awesome! Too bad they're all gone now... Zophar's Domain sounds familiar... OH! I recognize this back when i was first getting into emulation. I frequented a now dead site called Emucation.com. Zophar's was a place I believe I went to a couple times for emulators and such. I'll link up the music site here for ease ---> Zophar's Music Thanks for that! Smooth McGroove does excellent work. I'm not sure I can even get my brain around the amount of recordings and all the timing he has to to do make these @[email protected] A very impressive feat indeed! And overall, what I want is probably something that doesn't easily exist... Just wish there was an awesome repository where one could easily get soundtracks of old games. I guess the real issue is the large variety of games companies and music I would want. I'll probably just bit the bullet and consider iTunes since some of the RPG soundtracks are what I'd ideally like. (Final Fantasy mostly but some of the other greats wouldn't hurt!~) Probably is the ones I found were hella expensive... like $25 or so per soundtrack if note more. T-T -
Pretty sure they block this exact thing. They limit almost all of their releases to just one copy per person. They only open up the restriction if they get past a certain point and still have copies... which never happens anymore. If they catch you trying to double dip, they cancel your entire order. Limited Run Games really needs to figure out a new setup because their supply isn't remotely meeting the demand, and there's little reason for them to NOT increase the number they have. Thankfully I've lost interest entirely and sold the only one I had.

So I saw the latest My Life in Gaming video talking about their video game soundtracks they had collected. (Youtube Link Here) This got me to thinking... I'd really like to find a digital distribution service with video game soundtracks. Amazon is kinda spotty on this and tends to only have some of the biggest releases in this category. (I randomly checked now and FF7 was available for digital but not FF9.) I managed to find a few random sites in my searches, but none of them are really delivering what I want... I'm going to link them here, but at the same time, I'm curious if anybody here has some good sites for listening to, purchasing, downloading, or anything along that line for video game music. And no I don't mean YouTube. YouTube works, but it's not the same as having a dedicated downloads that aren't just random rips from around the Internet. While randomly searching, I found the following couple of sites. VGMRips - Contains mostly chip-based organization and older consoles and handhelds. Can play from the site and sounds like the original consoles. Can download as well! https://retro.sx/ - Contains a very large variety from old to new, but it's kinda spotty and seems to focus on more popular selections. Can play straight from the site or download. https://www.sumthing.com/ - A very random one, but this is closest to what I was trying to find. It's a digital music store that has some video game soundtracks on it. Problem is it's really limited to what seems to mostly be Capcom and some newer titles. https://bandcamp.com/ - This is a generic indie music site, but there's a lot of video game bands, indie video game soundtracks (Shovel Knight is there!), and plenty of video game remixes. It can be a crap shoot to find the exact thing you want sometimes though. http://vgmdb.net/ - Video Game Music Database. Pretty much just is what it says. Large database of Video Game Music soundtracks. More of a catalog than anything unfortunately. It does contain links to purchase off-site, and they have a marketplace with people selling them. OCRemix - Yeah this one is probably already well known. Doesn't hurt to link though! Completely free remixes, thousands of community submitted tracks, 40+ dedicated remix albums. It's good stuff! ALSO FREE! Now that I've shared... Does anybody have a suggestion of closer to what I'm looking for? I'd prefer not iTunes, but that's looking like one of the better spots for what I'm thinking.

GC Video Mod - Installers available?
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Hardware
I had issues getting proper capture footage with my phone, so I've decided to abandon doing anymore coverage videos for this. That and MetalJesusRocks did similar coverage with an actual capture setup that shows off a lot of the video improvement way better than I did. https://youtu.be/XUks9-jW9xw I'm linking his video here although it uses an adapter rather than an internal mod like I did. Same results from what I can tell and more accessible to your general user. (Also a bit cheaper) There's a dedicated thread here as well ----> New Gamecube HDMI Adapter Sorry for the last bump! -
Minor bump! Sold a few items. Going to slap myself and try to part with a few more SNES and maybe NES games when I look at them next. I have all these EverDrives and no point hording physical copies of anything I can play off of those. (Except for a few that are my personal favorites)

Mega Man Legacy Collection (XB1, PS4, 3DS, PC)
KeeperofLindblum replied to Atariboy's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I picked up the Legacy Collection 2. Got it for like $15 with Amazon Prime discount. Not bad for the price... but I'm realizing now I'm not really into Mega Man 7. I enjoy the rest. Game feels good overall, but I'm not the best at testing input lag or seeing all the differences. Going to sit next to the original Legacy Collection for now. I'll probably go ahead and sell my Rockman 7 though. -
Minor Bump! Added a neat collectible and a bunch of minor price drops across the board.
