GC Video Mod - Installers available?
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Hardware
Definitely looking forward to Game Boy Player usage through Gamecube and HDMI! O_O I realize I'm being a tad eccentric on this, but in my defense, I would argue that most modern retro gaming choices and mods are fairly eccentric in general. (Not the point of this topic though so moving on) I like the idea of having the Gamecube more readily available on a modern TV. I'd get the component cable, but you end up paying $250 or more on a cable that just enables component. And I feel like component/composite are kinda getting pushed out the door.... I figure HDMI is going to offer the absolute best and easiest picture option although it's not a whole lot cheaper. The sad thing is the Gamecube's video looks pretty awful on modern TVs... Like I'd go so far as to say almost as bad as the N64. (I mean if you do either through composite or even S-video.) The Gamecube improved very little even through the Framemeister. I ended up using a monitor I had with S-video in it because it looked way better than the HDTV. Course the sound was pitiful on the monitor so it's using a bluetooth speaker... Overall, I'd like a better setup for one of my favorite consoles, and HDMI seems to be the best choice for the foreseeable future. -
Maybe. Really only the boss battles go to "LOOK AT ALL THE BULLETS!" mode. Below is a video showcasing one of the boss battles. I've started it after the dialogue but for anybody who hasn't played it... STOP BEFORE THE 5 MINUTE MARK! I linked the video to show one of the harder boss battles showing the "bullet hell" style that it has. Admittingly this is like... one of the last boss battles. It gets a bit harder than this, but not insanely more difficult. https://youtu.be/Eqypnw6gQNg?t=1m11s

Congrats on the win! I'm pretty much on the line of Collector's Edition or not myself. The game is very hard to avoid spoilers at this point because so many people are like "DO NOT CHECK INTO SPOILERS!" but then you happen upon them because there's an overflow of fan stuff. Completely agree about the LRG thing. They have gotten so many titles, and you basically can't get anything unless you are within the 15 minutes of release. That or it's not the game you wanted. The battles are a mixture of RPG for the menu, but the actual gameplay is hard to explain... It varies throughout the game, but it's mostly akin to "bullet hell" shmup when the battle is active. It's a very short game overall. You can sit down and beat it in a long afternoon. (I want to say like.. 2-4 hours max offhand?)

GC Video Mod - Installers available?
KeeperofLindblum replied to KeeperofLindblum's topic in Hardware
After clicking the links, I realize I recognized it. I messaged the guy after seeing his work somewhere. He responded back with a quote of $100 or so plus shipping. His work doesn't look bad by far, but I would greatly prefer an internal mod. (Yurkie has messaged me and we are getting this done.) I also remember seeing some weird arguments between that creator and a couple other people on a different forum somewhere. One of the people involved was the BadAssConsoles guy. (I'll try and find a link later when I get home.) I think they're mostly questioning the cost he is charging and some of the methods of how he is making it. Also some of the concern over it not being very long lasting. I'm not against the adapter, but I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it either. It seems like it'd be an inferior (but cheaper) option. If the material it's made of isn't 100%, it could easily break from the weight of the cable or constant plugging and unplugging. I feel like this would wear out over time whereas an internal mod would last longer. I will be 100% sure to show off Yurkie's work on here after we get this all done. I already ordered the parts to get this started~~ -
I think it's to do with how we have a lot of "Launch Edition" stuff coming out now. I'd say at least 3 out of every 5 new games have a "Launch Edition" that is initially released. They sometimes have extra content or a different case... Sometimes they just have the words "Launch Edition" on them. It's so you feel special about your purchase although the words are meaningless. Thus sellers are attaching that to their auctions in hopes of eliciting the same feelings maybe? It's stupid regardless of any reasoning.

Welp, I pretty much have to get a Switch now. I'll have to watch the clip later when I get a chance! Also the announcement of the Metroid II remake... I wonder if that's why Nintendo was so adamant about removing the homebrew AM2R (A Metroid 2 Remake).

Hello! For those who didn't know, there is a Gamecube mod available to allow for video output superior to composite without paying for the ridiculously low quantity and overpriced component cable. I won't go into all the details, but basically someone dumped the information off of the fancy component cable and it's conversion chip that is in it. The information is freely available to read and use. Here's a link to the Github if you want to read more. You can find a couple different people showing the results on Youtube, and I'd like to say it just looks AMAZING via an HDMI cable. There's one example below of the amazing results but a not very amazing installation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyYyQy3oTPY&t=51s There are a couple people working on this project in various fashions, and there are a few major services to get this mod done, but they aren't looking overly healthy right now. BadAssConsoles has a preorder bit that's been up for around a year or so now, and he doesn't update consistently and has recently changed opinion from an internal mod to an external adapter. He's doing great work and all, but there's no real idea of when it'll get finished up. There is also VideoGamePerfection in the UK. They don't have nearly as ambitious a project going for this, but they're also so backed up on preorders that they have a waiting list for their waiting list. There's a few odd modders I've seen around that have their own plans in production, but there's not a good list to choose from of people to do it. Overall, I'm greatly interested in the mod. It offers HDMI for one of my favorite systems that doesn't have a great selection of options, and much like the N64, it doesn't really look great on HDTV via S-Video... Even through the Framemeister. With all this being stated and said, is there anybody who could possibly do this mod for me? I'd be willing to pay all the expenses needed and provide all the parts. I just don't feel confident in my soldering ability. I mean... I managed to replaced a power port on a couple SNES. That's about it. Here's the links below of some details plus the parts needed. (In case someone is interested in this for themselves and whatnot) Pluto FPGA Board - The circuit board that makes the magic happen! The one you'll want is the Pluto IIx . The site even sells some preprogrammed with the software. 3D Printable HDMI Mount - Link to the files for 3D printing a fancy plastic mount. Not required at all, but it looks really nice paired with the board. The Mod Details - The direct details to the mod itself on Github. Has anybody else been watching this?

https://www.fangamer.com/products/undertale-ps4-vita I'm unsure of how many people here played Undertale, but this is a pretty big announcement if you ask me. I greatly enjoyed the game for the music and characters. Very nice game overall, and I'd say best played if done so unspoiled. I'm not surprised by a physical release for PC, but I'm pretty interested in how they handle some of the elements for the PS4/Vita... Considering some of the things that happen in-game. Any other fans of the game on the site?

I'm unsure if this has been this way for a while, or if it's a Prime only deal, but the Dualshock 4 controllers (all version 2 it seems) are selling for $40 on Amazon. Considering they're normally $60+ now, I find this a good deal. Unsure if it's a limited time deal or not, so you might jump on it if you can. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWVX2RG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_m52pzb4AVW66H

Mega Man Legacy Collection (XB1, PS4, 3DS, PC)
KeeperofLindblum replied to Atariboy's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I believe I read somewhere that both Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 were supposed to include all the DLC. While this may be an underwhelming collection, it's still not bad for only $20 physical copy~ I'll probably pick it up to put next to my physical version of the first one~ -
This is more of a rumor/hearsay than anything... I was in GameStop the other day (one I used to frequent a lot but less so now cause declining interest), but one of the employees I know pretty well suggested that I come back on the weekend of the 10th. That's this upcoming Saturday. I can't really confirm anything beyond what he said, but when I checked Gamestop's weekly ad today... (See below) Only negative I can see here is if the "Pro Day" sales are purely limited to those with Pro cards. I'm mostly passing this on incase anybody else is trying to grab a few more WiiU titles affordably and effectively. I'm not really up for paying full price, and I'm unsure why more places haven't dropped the price considering it's so far on its way out that the door has basically closed on it. Just something to keep in mind if you have some free time this weekend and a bit of cash to spare to flex out your WiiU librairy. Another note to add here is that my local GameStop did have some random markdowns on used titles for basically all the systems. It was a "4 for $20 Used Sale" on almost every console they had, but it was also randomly limited to select (kinda shitty IMO) used titles.

I unfortunately learned about Indiebox too late. I believe they stopped doing the Flash Drives some time ago in favor of just the CDs now? I'd have greatly preferred the fantastical flash drives... That being said... I like the physical versions of digital games getting releases. Although I'd be happy with just a metal case over the generic plastic ones. It's just a shame that we only have a few options for companies doing this, and one of those companies (Limited Run Games) just never seems to have enough copies for everybody.

thoughts on ps1 demo discs ?
KeeperofLindblum replied to coleco82's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My brother subscribed to PlayStation Underground, and I've almost got a complete set of those... Only lacking I think 2-3 volumes. I also have a few demo discs including the ones that came with the system in the box. I thought about offloading them since I'm not trying to collect, but I don't have a clue who I'd sell them to... or what I'd even price them at. -
Got a whole pile of random shit to give up. BE SURE TO READ THE DETAILS I HAVE WITH ITEMS! Star Wars Plug N Play TV Game - When I found it, had 4 batteries in it and one of them was busted and waaaay corroded. I cleaned it best I could without opening it and I couldn't get it to turn on. Maybe you'll have better luck? Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Dark Forces and Sim Classics - As far as I know, both of these games should work. They might be in various conditions, but it's all there. Also 1 PS3 game (Fairy Tale Fights) and an empty Duck Tales Remastered - DUCKTALES ITEMS ARE CLAIMED! ALL OF THIS IS FREE FOR COST OF SHIPPING! Would prefer to not split any of it up, but I'm willing to as long as you're willing to pay shipping. Some Items are claimed as noted!

Shmup preference, Vertical or Horizontal?
KeeperofLindblum replied to Cobra Kai's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm not the largest fan of SHMUPs. (Mostly just not very good...) I'd say one of my favorites is Tyrian 2000, and it's a vertical shooter. So I voted as thus! -
Anyone here emulating Wii U on their PC?
KeeperofLindblum replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Emulation
To be fair.... Breath of the Wild doesn't always run smoothly on the consoles they are on now. I have experienced a few moments on the WiiU version of slowdown. Generally it's short lived and "acceptable", but it's kinda sad that it's even an issue of you ask me. THUS... I'm not surprised the emulator for it has slowdown. -
Damn it. It's fake. EDIT - This is from their actual Facebook page... WHY WOULD YOU FAKE THIS? D: I'd TOTALLY buy that over the Retron 5...

What's up with Nintendo hardware shortages?
KeeperofLindblum replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I know someone who works at Wal-Mart and another person who works at a Gamestop... They briefly got a second shipment of a handful of Switches, and those sold out within an hour at those places. (As well as anywhere else that got a handful of units it seems) I think the Wal-Mart got two, and the Gamestop may have gotten slightly more? (I didn't get an exact number.) I've heard they're supposed to amp up production like crazy for the year, so people need to just be patient and wait it out. I'd say your best opportunity is before the holiday buying season kicks in when the Switch hype dies down juuuust enough to let some units sit for a period. Once the holiday starts though, you're basically screwed until it's over again since people will jump back on that again. -
I wasn't sure what this was until I watched the video... Looks pretty cool and actually a lot of depth for a "frisbee" game. First time I'd ever heard or seen this title, so the video was a real treat. I'd be interested in buying it considering cost or a possible physical (Although I realize unlikely unless someone picks it up like Limited Run Games.)

Google Maps' April Fools game
KeeperofLindblum replied to Jumpman1981's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I thought it was pretty neat. Of course it ran kinda weird considering how some of the off-screen paths went... Tended to take you to another random path.
