  1. I don't play a lot of racing titles, but easily can say Power Drome (PS2) was just super bland. The Game stop I use to frequent had like 10 copies and I got them all for less than $1 each.

I know this thread is aimed at "worst", but this one was pretty bad if you ask me.

  2. It was a bit of a process for me...

Game Boy was my first game device in general although I played some of both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Brother had a PS1 and I played the demo discs he had. (PlayStation Underground FTW)

My first console was a Nintendo 64 and played that pretty much anytime I could.

From there I jumped to...Xbox then traded that for a PS2 and also got a GameCube. Anything beyond that isn't really childhood anymore. Lol

  3. So long story short, I'm cleaning out my closet of items I don't want or need. Almost everything here is free with the cost of shipping. There's a few items I'll have a price on, but most of it's going to be free in general. For the first three days, I'm going to limit how many free items you can claim. (This is to keep someone from just trying to claim everything and/or a majority in one shot.) Then I'll wait for three days to ship anything to give the free claiming people a chance to basically go to town on whatever is left. (Also to be sure I have proper packing material and boxes for what I'm shipping and to whom I'm shipping to.) After a week goes past, I'm going to toss anything that doesn't find a home.

All games below have been tested and work. Any parts/pieces below should be in decent condition and are simply spare parts I've pulled off of items. I can give better details and pictures of anything upon request.

AGAIN! Only a few of the items below have a price tag and most other things are simply being given away. I do require shipping money but that shouldn't be too bad.

Final note!... Apologizing now for the order of the list here. There are a lot of random items, and I'm not putting it in any kind of specific order.

EDIT - Added a few more items I found and forgot to post up. Nothing too fancy I'm afraid at this point. Newest items are at the top.

BE SURE TO POST WHAT YOU ARE CLAIMING BEFORE YOU SEND A MESSAGE!

Pokemon Black and White guide, Black and White 2 guide, and Black and White Pokedex.

A card game I backed on Kickstarter. It's kind of a card-improv game. There are multiple ways to play, but basically it comes down to you describe how the person/creature/whatever on your card would win a fight. It need some work. (Also the company that made it went under COMPLETELY! LOL)

Icewind Dale (Complete in Box) - It has everything with it, and it's all in great condition! I couldn't really test this one out, but the discs look very nice and mint. $8

I also have 8 spare computer power cables. Not sure how or even where I got them all at this point... (Nobody seems interested in these I guess? lol)

Half a NDS lite shell and the buttons. Yeaaaah, I attempted to make a GBA Macro, DS phat, whatever you want to call it and failed. Here's the nicely painted bottom half and the buttons. Also have one of the speakers, the battery, the wifi adapter from inside it, and a replacement screen for a GBA SP. Also the screws!

And finally... some music CDs and cassette tapes! Nothing overly wonderful here, but it all works so.... yeah.

CDs left - Scott Pilgrim soundtrack and Metric - Fantasies.

  4. How much?

And the snses version is better. The gamecube version requires a cd and if that cd breaks then no good. So the snes version is better.

I would take $22 shipped for it.

As for comparing the Super Game Boy and Game Boy Player...

Super Game Boy is the cheaper one of the two and nice that it only relies on a hardy cart. But it only does GB and GBC games.

Game Boy Player does suck for requiring a disc (Player hardware is cheap but the discs are expensive.), but I like it more because it does all three. I have never broken a disc in my life, so I am not too concerned with losing my current one.

  5. From my understanding, those adapters only use the console for a power supply and a controller. Otherwise, the cart itself is one of those "on a chip" bits where the cart is doing all the actual work.
I haven't tried the Genesis/SNES adapter or the NES/SNES adapter, but I did try a different one that I thought was quite a bit more clever...

The Super Retro Advance! (FYI, I just chose the first link that popped up on Google. You can find it at a wide variety of places and a bit cheaper on eBay.)

It's basically a Super Game Boy but for Game Boy Advance titles. I can say from personal experience that it worked quite well, but it only outputs composite picture... It's a cool (and fairly cheap) way to play your GBA titles on the TV screen.

The picture seemed weirdly bright for being on the TV screen, but other than that, it worked quite well and I tried a few titles on it.
I bought it because I wanted a way to play the GBA titles on a big screen, but the cost of a Game Boy Player (the Gamecube gameboy adapter) can be quite ludicrous.

EDIT - I actually managed to grab up a cheap(er) Game Boy Player from someone here on AtariAge, so I still have my Super Retro Advance with zero use for it. If anybody here sees this post and wants it, I'll sell it fairly cheap.

  6. Thanks for the answer sir! I figured I would have to, but I thought it might be worth asking since I couldn't find an answer elsewhere.
Worst part of all this is... I think I actually had the right power cable at one point, but I tossed it some time ago because I wasn't sure what it belonged to.

I also now have a PSP charging cable that I have ZERO use for. lol

  7. I recently acquired a PSOne for pretty cheap (Goodwill auction). It has a few scuffs but looks fine. Came with a controller too, but the analog sticks on it are... most definitely not good.

ANYWAYS! The PSOne didn't come with a power cable, but I found I randomly had an old PSP power cable. It's the same adapter piece, but the voltage is a bit different... It's only 5V, and everywhere I look says 7.5V.

I went ahead and tried it anyways though. It will power it on, but I don't get video. I'm assuming this is because it isn't enough voltage, but I want to make sure it's worth the effort...

Is powering it on with the low voltage:

    1. Safe for the PSOne? (Or did I already bork it? -_-)

    2. The fact it comes on a good sign for me to invest in a power cable?

    3. The amperage looks to be enough (1500 mA), but the voltage is the issue?

  8. I've had a couple finds lately, but was waiting to show off all at once.
I might not have gotten THAT great of a deal, but I felt I did well on both of these occasions...

Random friend sent me these Xbox games for cost of shipping.

    arR1Ety.jpg

I found this Icewind Dale (looks complete as far as I'm concerned) for $2 at a goodwill.

    MAOdv0J.jpg

Picked up this small pile of items for $46. I got them to go down on the guides from $50 to $35.

    Z9w2wws.jpg

I could have done better on that last one, but I saw that all those guides go for quite a bit more normally. Just wish the Final Fantasy 3 guide was in better condition. :(

FINAL EDIT - If anybody is interested in any of the items (NOT THE XBOX GAMES), feel free to message me. Otherwise those guides will probably go to eBay. lol

  9. Disney Infinity (along with Skylanders, Lego Dimensions, and amiibos) are basically all the "toys to life" genre of games. Each game has a bit of a different play style (except amiibos, they're just neat figures that do random things in random games).

Each game has its own ups and downs, and they are all fun at a point. There's generally a "campaign" mode that has a story and levels to play about in.

For Skylanders, this is the main portion of the game, but I'd say it shines best at this. It sort of an "action RPG" for beginners. I would say from personal experience that it's actually pretty fun without being too challenging.

I don't have as much experience with Disney Infinity, but this one is probably going to have the most range of opinion. I know people (kids mostly) love the Toy Box mode where you just do what you want. There's campaigns for every set of toys, but I don't know how explorative this gets. From what I'd say, the campaigns/game in general is probably going to appeal most to people or kids who like the characters in them. IE you like Star Wars so Infinity 3.0 is pretty cool choice.

Lego Dimensions is pretty new to the field, and it's also the most expensive buy-in. However, it comes with actual Legos you put together for the game to use, so the cost balances out. I've only played a bit of this, but it's your basic Lego game like every other one. (Which kinda disappointed me in that regard... thought it would be more somehow.) The only really cool thing about Dimensions to me was the variety of characters. Simpsons, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, Portal, Scooby Doo, DC, and more that I'm definitely missing at this time. Huuuuge variety of characters/franchises in here. Each one has a set of levels too.

At the end of the day though, the only bummer about "Toys to life" games are the expense. If you get the old ones, you can get them fairly cheap, but if you attempt to keep up with the newest stuff... Buyer beware. This can get very expensive very fast with each set from these groups averaging around the $15 mark for a character and $30 for a set. Games are completely playable with what comes in them, but you're going to miss a lot of content without some of the extra packs/characters.

SO OVERALL! They are a fun and varied kind of games, but they can be particularly expensive if you are getting the latest and greatest sets. (Also their resale value in most cases is crap so yeah...)

  10. Might as well make this an FF7 thread. I discovered these "features" after playing the game on PS4:

    Press these on the controller:

    L3 - speeds up everything x3

L3+R3 - turns off random encounters

R3 - heals everyone and gives every character infinite limit breaks

Um....sort of like cheating but I like turning off random encounters and speeding them up to level grind.

...what's the point in playing it then?

I only like the speed up part for trying to power level. Otherwise, that's just pure cheat buttons.

  11. I really enjoyed how it looked overall, and I'll be purchasing it of course. But...

This is just Final Fantasy XV with a Final Fantasy VII coat of paint.

Look at how everything is on there, and you'll see that they're being (fairly) lazy and just copy-pasting a lot of the content from FFXV to make FFVII.
As I told some friends, I'll still buy the shit outta both titles, but it seems a bit lame to me that I'm going to be getting the same game twice but with a different look really.

And yes I've heard that they didn't actually do that... but come on. It looks and plays nearly identical to FFXV. That's exactly what they did.

OKAY SORRY GOT THE NEGATIVE OUT OF THE WAY!

They did a really good job here. It looks amazing, and everything looks fairly correct for what it's supposed to be. The characters look good and appropriate. The voicing sounds right for who it's coming from. I'll be happy to venture back through that great world.
I won't say that they should have kept the turn-based combat (I would have preferred it honestly), but the combat looks pretty fun and cool.
It's a very pretty game, and it'll be nice to see a reinterpretation of Final Fantasy VII now that they have like a huuuuuge amount of extra story behind/interwoven/surrounding it all.

Now all that being said, what I would TRULY love to see is a game with that caliber of graphics with a true turn-based system! Can you imagine past FFVII with THOSE looks? I'd buy it five times hands down not a second thought.

  12. I dunno... I'm not super familiar with the series, but based on everything it lists as content, I'd almost call it $60 worth.
I've seen bigger triple A titles with less content then what that lists.

Granted... I might just be crazy here. lol

  13. Let's be fair guys. The most likely scenario here is they simply "port" all the PS2 classics from the PSN store on the PS3 to the PSN store on the PS4.
It seems weird to me that they'd create a backwards compatibility that completely skips a generation when going back. I'd personally think the PS3 would be the more logical choice here.

Not saying I won't be hoping for the best (actual PS2 discs), but I think we just shouldn't get our hopes up.

I just use a PS2 emulator on my PC. I can even use physical discs and not have to convert them into an image. Thought about getting that PS3 wireless controller adapter but my wired Xbox 360 controller works fine.

I'd say this right here ^^^ above anything else people mentioned. I would ask though... Doesn't the PS2 emulator allow you to upscale the image like some of the other higher up (generation-wise) emulators?

The fact People would buy a digital game on PS4 for more Money than it would cost to buy the actual PS2 disk in box with Manual just blows my mind... But yeah. Probably gonna happen.

Because not all games are that cheap physically. Sure you could probably find some of the bigger releases still complete in box, but not all the titles you might want are going to be cheaper than a digital copy. The PS3's massive librairy of PS1 classics holds very true for this. Many of those titles go for easily 3 or 4 times what they're selling digitally. There's a nice convenience of the digital library having a huge stock of games you want at affordable prices while also eliminating the need for a physical storage.
In general, I'd greatly prefer the real disc with the box and manual, but it's not always that easy to find the exact releases you want in the exact condition you want while also paying a moderate price for it.

Granted! My PS2 had a modded memory card and my PS1 has a mod chip, so I guess I could just not pay for games at all if I wanted. Just... prefer the real items if I can get them.

  14. Well I wouldn't mind a few of these titles, but the shipping (like $8 for a single title) seems a bit much.
I tried it out with several titles (probably not going to buy), and the shipping only increased to like $9 for four titles.
    So.... there is that.

Beyond the cost of shipping, I like the overall pricing on several of the titles here. Seems crazy that they still have PS1 titles in stock.

  15. *SNIP*

Time to wrap this all up with a Pros and Cons. EDITED!

    Pros

-High compatibility (97% according to their eBay page)

    -Video and sound are decent

    -Highly affordable

    -Works with Super Everdrive

    Cons

-Video and sound aren't absolutely perfect

-Random issues with a few games (might just be me)

    -Weird death grip

    -Feels cheap

    -Cheap SNES controllers are cheap

    -Major case of the jail-bars*

Aaand now I have a bit of sad news to report. I think the Framemeister was helping the 16-Bit Entertainment System more than I thought. I still have to test it on a couple other TVs... but there's something I didn't notice before.

Hopefully nobody has looked into acquiring their own yet, because it's got a major case of jail bars.

I didn't notice them too much on my big HDTV with the Framemeister hooking it up, but when I hooked it to an LCD monitor I have with S-Video... the bars became insanely visible. I went ahead and tested it on two more TVs (older HDTV and a CRT).

The jail-bars aren't too obvious until the screen brightens up... then they're immediately there.

Feel bad for not testing it a bit further before I put forth my review. Sorry people. -___-

As for the Earthbound thing, I didn't get the initial anti-piracy bit when you start up. I loaded up an old game and didn't get any interruptions there. Just need to try doing a new game... Otherwise it didn't seem to trip anything.
