It took me ages to find one for the Lynx 1 on eBay. If anyone knows a place with them in stock (boxed) would be helpful.
-
Yeah, when I sniffed around eBay in Australia, could sense that the rare titles from US/UK weren't so rare there? I've even bought a few Double Dragon's and Desert Strikes from oz, as even with shipping can bag a better deal.

What's definitely NOT worth $60 is this game manual for Super Asteroids / Missile command. The MANUAL. Even the game brand new is barely worth that. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Asteroids-Missile-Command-manual-near-mint-shape-Atari-Lynx-/252466465704?hash=item3ac82c8ba8:g:r88AAOSwbsBXjTA6

Well, the value will depend of a few things. Is it the original Lynx or Lynx II? What condition is it in? Is there a charger? What currency (guessing $). I'd say $100 is a bit high for just the Lynx and one game. I'd say half that was probably more like it. For what it's worth, I think you can bag a Lynx II for about $30 - $40 that's in OK condition and working. You just need to be patient on eBay. Lynx I's I find can run a few bucks (10ish) more as they're a little rarer? (but often in terrible condition). If you're a gambling man, you can look for the Lynxes that are "not working" on eBay, especially the ones that say no games. Often people don't realise it needs a game in it to switch on, so you can grab a working one for very cheap. I've done this twice, and both times the Lynx was totally fine. Just a quick look on eBay, there's this one with three games and some extras for $70 delivered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-Lynx-Gray-Handheld-System-Bundle-Carrying-Case-and-3-Games-Rare-Model-/172269753583?hash=item281c13d4ef:g:Sa4AAOSwYSlXgteF

Ah, I re-read your post. I thought you were just asking about the white pixel marks (which is a permanent problem for sure). If nothing is displaying at all, maybe re-seating the ribbon might help? I'd still recommend the McWill screen anyway, just cos it's so darn good.
-
Yup, that's a problem with the screen itself, (dead/leaky pixels?). Nothing you can do to fix but replace. I had one just like it, and did the LCD upgrade (McWill mod) and everything is as good as new. If you just swapped out for a normal LCD, that will also fix it.

It's the resolution that's the killer for me. What good is all the GFX muscle in the world, if you've barely got any pixels to use. Sacrilege, I know, but I always found the Game Gear games looked prettier because the basic number of pixels allowed more detailed sprites and backgrounds.
-
It's the badly cut-out hole for the screen that's bothering me most. The rest, if cleaned up, I could live with.

G'ah, I'm so close... is that handful at least 7 by chance?
-
Part of my daily (ok, three times daily) internet checks is the first page of this post to see how that list is coming on. I'm getting close... close enough I can almost taste it.
-
I think there are 16. The difference usually is just the manual. That post I linked above shows the main ones, but here's the list I know: Klax (Box/Cart/Manual) Chips Challenge Shanghai California Games (Box?) Paperboy Slime world Gates of Zendocon Ms Pacman Blue Lightning Gauntlet (this seems to be where the rare ridged cart version comes from) Xenophobe Rampage Roadblasters Rygar Electroscop Robosquash

There's only one "humped" game, which is Klax. Info on that, and other JP versions here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/249421-japanese-lynx-games/?hl=%2Bjapanese+%2Bmanuals&do=findComment&comment=3451374 Related... here's two beauties that showed up to my house this morning:

Another box-lover here.

Wondering if we'll all need to create LSD files... or if we can save time and share the ones we make until there's a full set?

Why didn't Datel make an action replay device for the LYNX?
Trew replied to Prosystemsearch's topic in Atari Lynx
I'm half and half, I feel broadly the same, but there are some concessions for modern life. When I had a SNES in the 90s, I bought an Action Replay without really knowing much about it. I loved it, not so much for cheating, but that you could kinda mess with the games. There was a really really hacky way to be able to play as the Bosses in Street Fighter II for example, or you could make a game give you your favourite weapon all the time. Silly stuff. I also liked being able to borrow a friend's game for the weekend, and if I couldn't beat it in time, you could plug in a code and at least get to play it all the way through (I used to compile videos of "completion sequences"). Right now, on my PSP when I'm using an emulator I use the "save state" feature all the time, which is a form of cheating, but it means I can play through the game a bit quicker without going back 3 levels or whatever. I used that in Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance a LOT. If I was a kid, though, I'd relish the challenge (what with all that free time I'd have etc). -
Lynx 1 (Model I) Right D Pad button pressing at random
Trew replied to apr2499's topic in Atari Lynx
I had this problem with my Lynx II just recently. I took it apart and gave the ribbon under and around the dpad a clean. The Lynx one doesn't appear to have the same ribbon... but did you give the dpad contacts etc a bit of a (gentle) rub? (Guessing you tried that though) -
As someone who's dangerously close to, but not part of the next 100... what's the policy on waiting for people to respond/pay etc before they lose their slot? Guess you don't want to be hanging around holding cards back if people drag their heels (while others wait with cash in hand).
-
My first, I already wrote about (Engadget), but kinda more please about my 5th (don't ask). Took a punt on a "non working" Lynx II on ebay. Got it, slapped a game in it, and... it works! Guess the seller didn't have a game to put in it, so assumed it was broke when it wouldn't switch on = bargain for me.

Are there any videos of championship rally gameplay?
Trew replied to sirlynxalot's topic in Atari Lynx
I love Championship Rally. Bloody addictive little game. Good learning curve and just cheeky fun. -
This sticky has been dormant for almost three years. With so much cool stuff going on in Lynx world (Multi cart, McWill and so on), the community seems livelier than it has for a while. I was just reading about QuadroMania, and it bought me here... it seems like so many projects were close when this thread was active, anyone got the knowledge or wherewithal to revive this thread with current info?
-
I have a folder full of the commercial ROMs that barely comes to 20Mb, and another with homebrews etc that's about the same. That's to say, it seems even a 1GB microSD card (if you can still buy one), should be ample.
-
Given the interest (and therefore my low position in line for the multi cart), officially registering interest for one of these camera-enabled super carts right now.
-
Also, is it just my nostalgia-tinted vision, or do all the handhelds looks much more iconic, and then there's the boring practical DS? It's almost like cars, where the early days there was a spirit of experimentation and novel ideas... and then they just went safe and started selling practical and comfortable.

PHWOAR (Mostly at Lynx 2, but in general also).
