Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?

Not sure this was posted yet but the Talk RETRO podcast is up, with former RETRO Magazine editor-in-chief Daniel Kayser as a guest. They cover the Coleco Chameleon at around the 53:25 minute mark. Daniel was at the show and claims that was not an SNES, but an actual prototype of the FPGA board in there. http://readretro.com/features/talk-retro-24/ -

Online Atari 2600 Label Maker : Now with Silver Labels
foxglove9 replied to Cropsy's topic in Atari 2600
What a fun program!! Some really funny labels posted. I just made a few, here's one. The rest are located here. Oh and Inky's "custard" was my favorite for some reason. Shot at 2007-08-19 -
Question - FB2 Portable?
foxglove9 replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I wouldn't mind waiting since I plan on getting both. But I'm much more interested in the FB3 than the FB2, only because I can already play 2600 game on my Sony PSP. -
You are right it is heavy as any 13" CRT monitor is, so I was thinking local pickup only. Around the NY/NJ area, I could even meet someone depending on the distance. And the s-video does work. I made one of those cables to play my PS2 and Gamecube games and the picture was fantastic on it. The sound is weak so I never used the internal speaker.
-
The monitor is still in good shape and works great. I'm looking to get $20 for it but I'm negotiable and possibly up for trades.
-
That's right, I remember when the Flashback 2's were a preorder item from QVC and that was the only way to get the CDRoms. Maybe they dumped all their stock they had leftover? Seems unlikely to do that almost a year later. I noticed Target has it on sale for $19.99. Sounds like what I paid for it last Christmas when I bought it, or was it $30 originally?

I can definitely wait some more for its release. It's good news that the project isn't dead yet! -

I have that charcoal Activision pad and it controls horribly. The new controller looks 10x worse. -
Rec. C's FB2's Here....I think
foxglove9 replied to Retro Rogue's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Wait, so they're only going to be available at Walmarts? Or are they just trickling in at Walmarts and they'll be storewide this fall? otherwise, maybe Walmarts website carries the Rev C's? -
The Atari Flashback 3 Petition
foxglove9 replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
If anyone was going to do it I guess it would be Nintendo since they have the money, but they seem to pride themselves in promoting only their main characters and would probably shelve most of Atari's gems in a vault somewhere. Nintendo really has been anti-retro for the longest time. It's really shocking that they are embracing emulation and classic gaming on the Wii, but it's a smart move that can make them extra money and gives them the ability to say "over 1000 games available at launch". -
That toy giveaway is really old, like from over a year ago at least. I'm thinking they found a few boxes somewhere in the basement and are just trying to get rid of them.
-
Extra sticks would be a great idea but I can't see any store actually carrying them. It would be too confusing to the consumer when they see the flashback joystick which is just an extra joystick, then on the same shelf the 10 in 1 Atari Joystick that actually has games for $10 more. Of course as brilliant consumers in America are they'll buy the cheaper one and then find out when the open it up and try to plug it in to the TV there are no games built-in. And the returns pour in. However it would be a nifty thing to sell though a website such as this The flashback sticks are a bit stiff to me compared to the originals but I like them regardless.

awww...Curt is such a tease I wanna say I hope Atari does have a change of heart, but I'm not holding my breathe. But you never know, they might want something retro for the stores at xmas time. They make great gifts

My first attempt at modding a Flashback 2
foxglove9 replied to thevnaguy's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Very cool! Congrats! It's funny because whenever I can scrape together money to mod my Flashback the first game I want to play is Space Invaders as well. I always loved the Atari version over the arcade. -
Oh my that is so cool looking! Checking out your sites right now!
-
That's hot!

It would be great to see the next Flashback console done buy a private group like Curt & Co. I'm sure you could even assemble a small team from people here that'll work on it with you as well (if you haven't done so already). Well maybe that isn't totally feesible but I'd rather that than Atari cancel the project all together.
-
Awww.... That shirt is nice, and worth almost as much as the Flashback itself since most gamer T's tend to be around $20. Nice deal, I wonder if all stores will have it or just Walmart online. I already own the 2.0 but I haven't started the mod project yet so maybe that's an excuse to get an extra version. Hmmm.... Of course since size is not listed, if anyone gets an XS or S and can't wear it, I take donations

Looks like the ad I almost replied to on Craigslist this morning
