  1. In the trash!!? You lucky devil. AND you're from St. Louis - now I'm jealous.
  2. Wow - good stuff! The Tron controllers are pretty rare, and very cool. I wish I had kept my original Atari - did you fire it up and play any games?
  3. That's great ! I especially like when the interviewer tells HSW that E.T. looks like a "tractor" - what a bust!
  4. Just got this one, along with Wolfenstein VCS (which is incredible, I think). I like the game, and it's definitely a lot better than Caverns on the FB2... That said, I notice that sometimes I'll shoot something, and the game doesn't register that I hit it... It seems like the sound effect will go off, but the thing I'm trying to shoot is still there. Is there a problem with my copy, or is this just a bug in the game?
  5. Well I am impressed!! I'm definitely getting that. Just out of curiosity, is there something that prevents the original from being released by AA as well? It seems like a lot of people (me too, now) want to get one - but with what I'm reading about Packrat's inconsistency in delivering, I'll be reluctant to place an order there.
  6. Yeah - I think this is a cool game too.... Fun on several levels - varied gameplay and the tie in with "He-Man" makes it a must own.
  7. I'll take those boxes and manuals - send 'em to me... !

    A modest find

Wow! Those are some really good finds for 50 cents apiece - you should be happy.
  9. This got me thinking - good topic! There were a lot of games I didn't HATE but didn't fully appreciate when I was a kid: Sky Diver, Air-Sea Battle, even Combat. I got my Atari around '82 and, by this time, these games were not the cutting edge.
  10. Great find - you owe your sister one!
  11. Crab Control was a pirate of Crackpots by Activision but with much blander graphics Ok thanks - that solves that.... Is that the game screen pictured below it? It doesn't resemble Crackpots to me... it looks more like a "pac-kong" kind of platform game.... ?
  12. That's a new one on me.... so is the game in the screen shot - "Crab Control" ? Anyone have any info on this game? I checked the database, but it doesn't say much.
  13. Nice find! Ghostbusters is hard to like --- took me awhile to figure it out, still isn't much fun to me. Stargate's great.
  14. Are we counting homebrews? I just got "Go Fish!" - pretty amazing title screen... . how'd he do that??!
  15. Thrift stores can be good. Also look in "Antique" stores, especially out in the country, because the term "antique" is often used loosely and translates into old junk, which often includes video games. Also, I'd recommend looking in the phone book for "Game-X-change" which is a chain used game store. They usually have all their 2600 games in a bin for $1-$2 each. I've found a lot of good games in these - even some rarer ones.
  16. How about a gameboy SP and Activision Anthology and maybe Atari Anniversary? - you'll save about $100 and it will be more portable too!
  17. To me, $2.00 is a good price for most games (Pac-Man, Combat & E.T. may be exceptions). You can't get much for a couple bucks nowadays - almost any Atari game is worth that much, in my opinion.
  18. Agreed - the homebrews are great - especially with the quality production that AA does.

    LOTR

Very cool news! Good to have you here.

    Lunar Lander

I agree- I like Lunar Lander also, but the FB2 version leaves much to be desired. A better option for a similar type of game would be "This Planet Sucks" homebrew.
  21. Ok, I'm an idiot! I figured it out. The line of code I was using to pull the data off of page 6 was messed up... I had it so that the first byte it pulled off was $601 and not $600.... I think this was messing me up. I fixed that and the program worked so I guess so.. Anyway, thanks for the help Nukey....
  22. Hi, I'm lost. I'm TRYING to write a table driven DLI that I can use in a BASIC program. Following the outline in De Re Atari, I write the routine in assembler and store the object code. Then I put in BASIC, call up DOS and binary load the routine from page 6. Then I run the cart, write the BASIC program to call the DLI from page 6. Here's where I'm confused: since the routine's already in page 6 - it works fine.. but.... If I translate it into a data statement, and poke it into memory, it doesn'T work and locks up my Atari. I'm just trying to get 3 background colors on the screen right now.
  23. I have a copy CIB too that I got a while back. I love it for the novelty value, and because it is just so wrong, but I definitely wouldn't say it was a good game. Not the WORST 2600 game maybe, but a contender. Same goes for Beat 'Em.... When you've got Kabooom!, why would you really want to play this for the gameplay?
  24. Very expensive, but you'll get what you pay for.
