Good list - can't disagree with any that made it...... Except maybe Keystone Kapers - loved it then, but a little repetitous now.

I love video games in general - I have 10+ systems.... However, I play Atari more than anything. There are so man y games on it that are always fun. Also, even when they're not so fun, they're often weird and interesting enough to make me play them anyway!
-
I agree... I like this one too. The graphics are hideous by any standard, but the fun and challenging gameplay make it a definite winner.
-
Great - thanks for doing all those conversions Thomas!! Is it possible that any more of these might be made into cart form and sold at the store? Playing the roms on my computer is OK - but I really prefer to have a real cart.
I imagine there are copyright issues etc. ... If that is the case, how did it work out for Pick 'n' Pile to be made?

Just got this game the other day - I LOVE it! I'm not really into puzzle games per se, but when I read about this game here, I thought it was cool that it had been converted to NTSC from PAL, giving us in the US a chance to have a title that was released in Europe , but not here.
Anyway, I've been playing the game daily ever since I got it. I'm amazed at what a complex and fun Tetris type action/puzzle game was possible for the 2600. Also, the box and manual and original cart came with the nicely done new cart - love it.
That's all -I just wanted to post to say I highly recommend checking it out. Here's hoping that more PAL games can be converted and sold here as well. My Golf maybe?

Well, I have to say I like Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes. Why?:
#1- it's hard, something I always like in 2600 games
#2- demands that you devise a strategy right away to form a barricade againt the constant attacks
#3- even clearing 1 screen gives you a sense of satisfaction (OK, same reason as #1)
It's not the best game ever, but I think it's a challenging and different kind of shooter.

Why, Protector/YASI, of course! It's also the best homebrew game on the system, and easily up to the standards of official Vectrex releases. Best of all, it's only $15. How could you resist?
JR
I don't think I WILL be able to resist!
However, for this month, I'll probably have to - WAY over my game budget. sad:

Hi, just got a Vectrex - swe-e-e-t! Seems that everything works fine, but all I have to test with is the built in Minestorm... Does this use button 1?
All the others check out - 2,3,4 for hyperspace, thrust and fire. 1 does nothing, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to.
What's a good game to really test it out - I have a multi-cart on the way.
-
OK - that one's perfect! Thanks again Allan, I really appreciate it.
-
DOH!... I hate to complain, since you were kind enough to post this for me... but I just looked at the file, and it only goes up to page 4 - ending with the "mini symbol" table. I may be doing something wrong, but I downloaded it twice, and it seems that's all there is.
I tried searching for the manual again on the internet - but I can't find anything.
-
Waaay too many! Probably in the 50 range.

Is it just my computer, or is this site messed up?
I've been trying for the last 4 or 5 days to get to the online store - but I get stopped every time with a security notice.
Anyone else had this problem? I want to buy some things, but I can't get through - annoying.
-
Great - thank you!!!

Sorry for the redundancy of this post - I already asked this question in my MAC-65 questions thread, but...
I'm really having trouble finding out anything about this feature of my MAC-65 cart. I have read the MAC-65 manual, which is helpful - but it refers me to a separate manual for the DDT which I don't have, and can't seem to find online.
Thanks to any who can help me with this.
-
OK - thanks to Mr. Fish I have now read the manual - which leads me to new questions
:1. The manual mentions a separate manual that deals with DDT tool, could anyone possibly point me to a copy (preferably printable) of that? I know it's on the cart, but I have no idea what it does, or how to access it.
2. The manual says MAC-65 uses part of page 6 - which part? Is it best to just avoid page 6 with this one? I read over the sample program for using page 6, but it left me a little confused.
3. Are there any page zero bytes available for the user? It seems that the ones usable from BASIC and the Assembler Editor cart are used by MAC-65

I don't know... to me, I've always liked the series. The gameplay is a little sluggish and slow - true, but I have trouble playing a lot of newer 2-D and 3-D fighters due to the insane speed and headache inducing number of moves to learn.
For my tastes, I like fighting games along the Street Fighter 2 lines - which I think Toshinden is, just in 3-d. With a handful of distinct moves and super moves, and action that the human eye can follow, it seems like there's more skill involved in these.
Now, that said, a new Toshinden with better graphics, tighter control and a variety of gameplay modes would be most welcome.

Well- I'm going overseas to London for a couple weeks to visit family etc. .... Can anybody tell me where to look for any good classic gaming stores/arcades in the area?
-
I think the Atari will remain a collector's item - even after those of us with nostalgic feelings for it are gone.
Anything that pioneers something popular is always going to be returned to. In the same way that people who really get into music often look back to the "roots" music like Blues, early Rock & Roll etc. , people into video games will always want to see the point of origin.
The systems in between the first (big one, at least) and the "newest thing" are more likely to go by the wayside, in my opinion.

There is hope!

This is really getting old. Today I got an e-mail saying: "you should have your games by now. If not, e-mail me at ... "
So, I waited on the mail, nothing again. Tried to e-mail her back and, wouldn't you know it? The mail came back as undeliverable.
On the other post about this (Claudia's collectibles) someone got an e-mail from her saying we should all have them by Tues at the latest, and please leave her positive feedback when they arrive.
So, has anyone received their games? Also, how can we give an unregistered e-bay user positive feedback?
<sigh>

You might want to check the "programming" forum on this site for a start. There's sections on 2600 programming as well as 5200/8-bit.
I know very little about it, but I've been trying to learn 8-bit assembly, which is probably the place to start.
Look around the site some more and you'll also find info about how AtariAge can help you actually put together carts etc. if that's what you're asking.
Anyway, you're right, it is a great site! Welcome.
-
Oh - duh - I shoulda thought of that - thanks.
-
How are you guys contacting her, if you don't mind me asking. I tried through E-bay a few days ago, and got no reply.
Also, I'm curious how she thinks we can leave feedback if she's no longer a registered member.

I got this when it was available at the store (not autographed though! - sweet) and I just want to say that it's a GREAT game. If I didn't have it already, I'd jump at it.

"MUST HAVE" carts for any 2600 collection?
