Wizard of Wor!

Love the game, not a fan of "continue" on almost ANY game... To me, it takes a lot of the suspense and fun out of a game to be able to keep going anyway, regardless of how you play. I've gotta go with the high score route, and just act like there's no contiinue.

Well, I think I know what the problem is now.... I took my 2600 to Trade-N-Games here in St. Louis and had Jason test it out - worked perfectly! At home, I have about 6 other systems all hooked up to a couple TVS. I think there must be some interference from these. Anyway, for whatever reason, my 4 switch isn't affected, so I'm just using that right now. At least I know the other one is OK (as long as it's by itself
) ! -
OK, I've tried a couple hook-ups, and I still get about the same result.
SOME games look completely clear - others are annoyingly fuzzy ... anyone else had this problem?

I really enjoy 2D fighting games, namely the Samurai Spirits and KOF series. In America, 2D fighting games are waning in popularity (as evidenced by the lukewarm sales of the last few 2D fighting game releases on mainstream systems) and it appears to me that the various Capcom franchises are more popular with their non-traditional manic, over the top gameplay and button-masher friendly controls. One thing I enjoyed about the Neo Geo as a gaming machine was it's commitment to the 2D fighting genre. Yes, many claim that the various KOF's offer nothing new, but this is untrue. Any discerning, competitive fighting game fan will point out all those subtle and not-so-subtle nuances that make up the core of each new release.
Sadly, as is commonplace with most of the industry, 3D is where fighting games have been headed over the last few years.
Agreed! I LOVE the older 2d fighters - even though I'm pretty bad !
It's just so fun that you can spend so much time learning the characters moves (and then how to use them).... I'm always up for Street Fighter, Fatal Fury etc. I think the VS. series really takes a lot of the fun out though - the button mashing makes it feel pointless. -

Recently, I've found myself playing a lot of "Hard Drivin'" on my Lynx and Genesis.... For some reason, I really find this fun!! I would have really liked to see a Jag version of this.... It seems like this, S.T.U.N. runner and some others that were on Lynx would have been good choices for the Jaguar.

I bought an O2 last year along with a couple games, and a multicart a couple months later. It's definitely a fun system, especially for those who enjoy first-generation 2600 games. Attack of the Timelord! is another of my favorites.Oh yeah! I forgot about that multi-cart
!! I think I'll get one - if for nothing else - to play the one screen Popeye I've read about. I'm thinking it's not going to resemble the Popeye I know and love, but it looks really funny!! I've got timelord, have to try that again. Also did enjoy KC munchkin games and will try Quest for Rings.

Just got an Odyssey 2 not long ago, and have FINALLY finished re-doing my gameroom and set it up to play with it. My only previous experience with an Odyssey was playing "Alien Invaders Plus" on a friend's O2 a LONG time ago - he was the only one I knew who had one.
Anyway, Pick Axe Pete. FUN FUN FUN! I can't believe how cool this game is!! I've got several other games, but this one is a real stand out.
That's all. Newly converted fan.

I tried to order some Jag games from them a couple years ago.. I waited and WAITED and E-mailed and E-mailed and got No reply.
Terrilbe experience.

Well here go my results. One GI Joe Atari game, 1 coleco Zaxxon, 1 Odyssee Alien Invaders:
Hair dryer worked great on all labels, but not as well on Zaxxon for some reason. The other two just slid right off! Thanks everyone.
Cleaned the insides of them - didn't help unfortunately, oh well.
The GI Joe (parker bros.) case didn't undo, even after taking out screws. So... don't know if it lives or dies!

I've got a couple of games that the STILL don't work, even after regular cleaning w/q-tip etc. (pretty unusual, in my experience) So.... I thought maybe if I undid the cart and looked inside to clean it more thoroughly?
To any who know: a)might this work, or am I wasing my time on a dead cart and b) I need to get off the label to get to the screw to open the casing - how is best to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I 2nd ...3rd or .. 4th or .. 5th
the request to be able to buy this through AtariAge. I WISH I could make it to the show and buy a signed copy - but I definitely want to get one anyway!! -
Most people, who I knew, had Ataris. But, ONE of my friends had an Intellivision. I didn't care about all the sports games, but B-17 bomber made me very jealous!!! What a great game.
When I started rebuilding my Atari collection, I got an Intellivision too - primarily to play this.

Well, I just set up my 6-switch 2600 and it works BUT the screen is pretty fuzzy.
I'm not using an old TV switch box - I'm using an adaptor to make the RF cable ready. I know this is the oldest model, and I don't have trouble w/my Jr. or 4 switch, could it just be it's old?
Any ideas?

Nice site!
The only ones you hate that I really disagree with are: Infiltrate (always kind of liked this - but I had it as a kid, maybe nostalgia?), Superman (ditto), and Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes. This last one I only got recently, and it is really hard. BUT it has a lot of cool twists for a shooter, building shields etc.

Nice! thanks everyone for the info!!

Shootin' gallery! It's the last Imagic I need to find -and it ain't easy... Unless I want to pay a ton
. -
I actually just found one the other day! I'm not too into label variations, but I hadn't seen it before - so I got it.
-
Thanks to "the Hat" and "Sdamon" for the instructions! I wondered what the blinking red/beeping was --- low altititude. I thought the only controls were aiming - that helps.
Still, the game variations 1-6 ... are these just diffuculty levels? Anyone know?
-
This used to be one of my favorites back in the day!! In the absence of a good Donkey Kong, this helped ease the pain.
-
Thanks.. that's what it looked like - just wondered if I was missing something... sometimes I die and I'm not sure what got me - I guess you take damage for anything you let by? I'll go play some more
.The game variations -- skill level I guess?
-
Can't seem to find instructions for this one.... Can anyone point me towards some, and/or give me a quick summary of gameplay + game variations?
Thanks!

I got the bundle for $85 - Merry X-mas to me!!
I'd say, get the bundle. Cat Trax is good, so is Pleiades, Funky fish --- hmmm... well..... it IS really slow, but it's kind of weird and interesting in its own way...
The production was EXCELLENT - box, manual and cart. It's also just cool to get some old games that never came out (on 2600) until just recently... It's sort of how I felt about the "new" Beatles songs coming out a few years ago. While not the best Beatles tunes ever - it's always cool to hear some that could have come out, just never did.
Along the same lines, I also got "Looping" this Christmas ..... It was $40 by itself.

I already e-mailed this in, as it says in the instructions, but I'll put it here too - just in case! I need that patch!!
(I hope I attatched the picture right ?
