I found 2 of these sticks "in the wild" not too long ago for $1 each!!! I agree - they are great.

Dragonstomper, which I don't think you can play on emulator (it used the "supercharger" attatchment for Atari and loaded from tape) is probably the closest thing to an RPG on the 2600.

Got my Revenge of the Apes today - very pleased! The production (of course) is awesome and the game has been enhanced from the proto I played on Stella with improved graphics, sound and gameplay. On game 4, this makes it a good challenge (don't forget to set diff. switches for enhanced graphics and hard apes). I would recommend this to anyone and want to say thanks to all those who had a hand in bringing it to light again. Had a good session playing this and Reindeer Rescue tonight - looking forward to the new Holiday cart! Merry Christmas/ Happy Hannukah (etc.) everyone.

Wow, this site is great - thanks everybody for the replies. Cassidy, that really helped - I found a monitor manual (and a lot of other good info) on Neo-Geo.com (thanks Crazy Climber for the tip!) - then I followed your plan with setting the controls, and I'm glad to say I now have a very good picture. I actually used Puzzle Bobble to help me set the colors, worked great. Besides a little burn in (that I beleive is unrepairable?) it looks really good. Now that this is worked out, I've been having a blast on the Neo! I had to replace one button (which I feel proud of in itself - I've never done that either!) but now it plays and looks great, and is a lot of fun. One cosmetic question though.... Does anyone know what color exactly is used on the cabinet? I'm talking about the orangish-red color on the side. I have an area where the paint has been scratched pretty bad that I'd love to repaint. Once again, thanks everyone for the help.

Yep - thanks very much Al! I agree with the others that the "Holiday cart" is now a tradition in our house too. Who would've thought in 2006 (soon to be 2007!) we'd still be looking forward to playing new Atari games at christmas time? Very cool - again, thanks to Al and everyone involved.

4-Jays is very good too, in my experience. The systems I've gotten from them have been immaculate, and worked perfectly!

So, I almost killed myself moving (with ONE other person) my 25" Neo Geo MVS into my basement.... there was a very scary moment when I almost couldn't hold it from flying down the stairs and flattening my friend! Never knew just how heavy it was until it was on wheels rolling down a steep staircase!!! Anyway, got it safely inside and set up. Overall I'm pleased with it, but I'd like to make the monitor brighter and I have some questions. I've been fiddling with the knobs on the back of the monitor. 3 are labeled: red green and blue "gains". 3 are not, but seem to control the brighness of these colors. Then there is the focus and brightness up near the front of the monitor (looking in from the back of the machine). So, in trying to brighten up the picture, I boosted the gains some (for all 3 colors) then I used the other set of knobs to try and get the colors to look right, and finally adjusted the focus and overall brightness.... You can probably tell I have no idea what I'm doing here!! Can anyone fill me in more about the functions of these controls? Any tips for setting them? Lastly, it's a little frustrating that I can get one game to look great, then I switch to another, and the settings don't seem as good for that game. I seem to have the most problem getting a bright picture on Metal Slug 2 and KOF '98 - not sure why this would be (newer games maybe?). Anyway, sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any help!

Oooops.... Have to take the 5200 off the "for sale" list. I just went to play my 2-port 5200, and I think it died in it's sleep (moment of silence, please). So I guess the 4-port is my new 5200. The other things are still for sale though - sorry!

Hi, I have a couple things I'd like to sell. 1) 4 port 5200. This is in really nice shape and works perfect - except, of course, the controller. The controller's buttons don't work, as usual. I tested the system with my controller that I rebuilt. 2) Starplex controller - this is that controller that is all buttons, like on an old Space Invaders or Asteroids machine. I bought it "new/old stock". It had a vinyl sticker-type cover on it originally that was badly warped, so I took it off. It is now just plain black with the buttons - works great. 3) Redemption 5200 converter. Bought from the Atariage store - it works fine, but I just don't use it much. Comes with the manual. Please P/M me if you're interested in any of these.

Already have SVC CHAOS - SNK VS. CAPCOM Ten times better than SF2 if you ask me SNK vs. Capcom - that IS a fun game. I'm going to get that cart for my Neo-Geo 4 slot. As far as the MK - I think it's a pretty good idea to put MKII in there along with the UMK3... MKII I think is the best in the series, but if you could have both, why not?

I got a Revenge of the Apes too. I agree, I hate the real Rubik's cube, I definitely don't want to play one on the screen. Saboteur I already got a couple years ago. I highly recommend anyone who likes playing Atari to get a copy of this while they can! Saboteur is a very fun game.

I like it - good game. Never knew about it as a kid, one of those that I'm glad to discover as I collect.

Defender - the FIRST game I got for the Atari. I guess it was 1982 or so..... I still remember hooking it up to a 12 inch black and white on Christmas day. I couldn't have been happier at the time. It's kind of weird to remember just how cool it was to play anything LIKE an arcade game that you loved at home. At the time I thought it was excellent - I can't really judge now, because I'm too nostalgic. In contrast though, my other favorite game at the time was Donkey Kong, and I felt cheated when I played the Atari version, even then. Pac Man actually didn't bother me... but I LOVED DK, and I really was hoping for something better.

Awesome, awesome game. My favorite of the many games I have bought from this site. If you like Venture at all, this is for you. If you like fun games, this is for you. It is obviously based on the Venture engine, but it is a whole different (and much better IMO) game.

Or how about a joystick coupler (I think one may have existed?) for the 2600, like there is for the 5200. The 5200 one is just a piece of plastic that both controllers fit into and it allows you to play 2 sticks on Robotron, Space Dungeon etc. I would like to buy one of these for the 2600 if I could find one.

OK - it looks like I found one! I'm getting a 4 slot Neo, it looks pretty nice. So, I've been looking around for more games for it (it comes w/4) and I notice that a LOT of the time, no mini-marquees or other extras are still with the games... This isn't surprising to me, but, how hard are the extras that came with the games to find? Any good sources (other than ebay)? I'm wondering if I should just hold out to find the games offered as complete kits or, get the games and look for the extras later.

Yes - lost sleep many times.... notably: Star Raiders - Atari 800 Road Rash - PS Warcraft - PC Street Fighter (+ related games) - many platforms!

I agree - don't use the plug-n-play as a reference for the Intellivision. I have one of these too, and the sounds are noticeably missing/messed up compared to the original. Some of the other plug-n-plays, like the Atari Flashback 2 and even the original Atari Jakks sticks are much more faithful to the originals. The compilations for PS2/Xbox are good, albeit akward, due to not having the original controller. As far as the games go, I feel that the Atari version is a lot more fun - mostly due to the speed of play. That said, I first played the Intellivision game way back when, and I actually LOVED the idea of getting a gun and having to ration ammo and then get to the next one. At the time, this was pretty novel for a shooting game, and I thought it made the game suspensful.
