  1. Opened the 7800 just now and I can't see what's wrong. The AV Mod looks fine AFAIK and MARIA lokks also OK. The solder joints look also good, so it seems that whoever modded this console knew at least how to solder or/and had steady hands I made some (crappy) pictures of the board so you can take a look at it. Let me know if you want to have a picture of a certain area on the board. http://imgur.com/a/BcGCL I already gave up on the seller. He seems to think that it isn't his fault and wants to send me videos and pictures of his other modded consoles that seem to work. He doesn't seem to realize that this doesn't help any of us
  2. Well he didn't have Food Fight but I got Joust instead. That's the good news. The bad news is that I still get the same result (changing colors, unstable picture), The seller just sends me the same thing over and over again. He claims that nothing is wrong with the console and that he sold 10 of them and none of them had a problem. He also repeats that I should change the channel to 0 or AV. Guess I had bad luck this time.
  3. My choice would be Asteroids. It's a timeless classsic and those vector graphics are hard to reproduce on modern hardware.
  4. The most "valuable" game in my 2600 collection would be Glacier Patrol. I got it in a box with a whole bunch of other games. It seems to go for around €70~ on ebay right now.
  5. I can't try any other 7800 games because I only have Asteroids but I'm going to Subotron tomorrow and buy some games. Hope they have Food Fight
  6. Already tried on different TV with the same result. Can't try another power supply because I only have the one that come with the console (It's a shame that the 2600 power supply doesn't work). The pins in the cartridge slot couldn't be a problem because the problem occurs when I play Asteroids, which is already pre-installed in the 7800 (PAL).I don't have any other games right now. Cleaning it is always a good thing though. Opening the console wouldn't be a problem, the bigger problem is finding the electronic component that is causing the issue. It could be as easy simply adding or removing a resistor or a bigger problem. PS: I'm really grateful for the help from you guys. It isn't that common nowadays to find such a nice community.
  7. Never buying a console on ebay again unless it's NIB

The "Retrobörse" is a great place to buy consoles and games in the german speaking area. Sadly it's only once a year but at least you can test the stuff there and talk to people who actually collect games/console and know their retro gaming. /rantover

Is the power supply port bad? What is actually wrong? Is he just not sending it, like a cheese weasel?

  8. Yeah, I tried the switch but that didn't help. The ebay seller also sent me an replay and asked me which TV I use and what brand it is. That kinda shows me that this guy really doesn't know which mod is installed and how to fix it. I could be wrong but that reply didn't give much hope. Unless it really matters on which brand TV the 7800 runs, which would be news to me.
  9. Thanks for the quick response. It's a composite AV Mod . I sadly don't know which one it is exactly because I didn't install the mod myself, and the seller didn't tell me which mod he used. I assume that he followed this tutorial: http://circuit-board.de/forum/index.php/Thread/2436-TUT-Atari-7800-AV-Video-Mod/. But that's just a guess.
  10. Hi Guys, I finally bought an Atari 7800 on ebay. I took the chance to buy it this time because the price was fair and it was already av modded, but there is a problem. The picture is fine during 2600 games and it actually looks great, but when I play Asteroids the picture becomes really unstable and changes colors. It wasn't that bad at first but it actually got worse IIRC. After some research I found that this phenomenon was called "TIA Interference" but not a way to fix. Is there an "easy" fix for it or did I just have bad luck again?
  11. I caced in and bought some 2600 games on ebay (again). Still more to buy before I'm really happy with my collection.

  12. Postal 2 This game fascinates me for some weird reason. It's probably the bad humor and the voice acting.
  13. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Finally got around to playing this one, and thanks to Dolphin in 1080p and in Widescreen. Enjoyed it for the most part, even though I prefer the Dungeons in Wind Waker and the Story wasn't that great either. But I really liked the Midna Character
  14. MESS is a good emulator for colecovision games. You can use the numpad on your keyboard or map the keypad buttons to the joystick. But that's gonna be a problem if you want to use an atari joystick which only has one button. Unless you mean the jaguar pad
  15. Is Tempest 2000 one of the greatest games of all time? Probably not IMHO, but it is one of those games that aged really well and is still a lot of fun to play today. Also it's one of the few great games on the Jaguar and has a loyal Fanbase.
  16. I can also provide som scans if you want. Are there certain scans that you want first or don't need at all? Or can I send you anything that might not be on your database already.
  17. Didn't have a Atari 2600 when I grew up because Atari stopped supporting the system a month after I was born. But I had a NES which isn't a bad first console either
  18. It's always sad to see when such a nice and talented guy has to leave a community because of things like that. I've been a lurker for a long time and always appreciated Bob's work for the 7800 community. His games even made me want to finally buy a 7800, and I did so a couple days ago. The most amazing thing ist that he did all this out of passion and he probably doesn't earn much money with this hobby. And yet, people still insult him and show no respect towards him. Critc is allowed but some people (ab)use the anonymity of the internet to compensate for certain things and act like priviliged A**holes. Bob, thank for you everything you did and I hope you have found your peace now.
