High Score Competition (April: Starfort)
Dexter replied to arcadeshopper's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
No luck on my side, I got once in the 50k. Nevertheless, it's been fun! -
LISTS TI-99/4A - Resources & Lists, PDFs, and some Lists

Great Job! That was, is and will be a LOT of work! It'd be very nice to have so much info all at one place. Perhaps books and magazines could be included? -

I'll assimilate this information, and adapt my tactics. That sounds very familiar. Yes indeed, knowing what to expect each roundnumber is the key to get the most lives, i.e. the most points. However, getting more points or not, it sure is a lot of fun. -

Oh, didn't notice that, although I watched your video. I noticed you went more for the points to get the four "Hoonos" on one go, 100, 200, 400 and 800. -

Yesterday I got lucky, but yet, just not enough with 67,350. I wonder what's the secret of the 180k? At a given point the time I can capture those "Hoonos", gets so short, too short to link the whole chain! -
Great game! I just played a few rounds, and couldn't find any bugs so far. I'd love to see the source code.

I've been trying for days now, despite I'm playing on the real iron, and with a fantastic joystick, I just can't break the 50k. That might seem high from a 10k perspective, but what about the 160k from globeron?! -
Ah, Wil'yam Shex'pir! LOL

Nah, looks like klingon to me.

The graphics are beautiful! I can imagine why you're making games that are still 9918 compatible, but if you used F18A functionality, you could integrate the second layer like on the C64. Never the less, it's still good as it is now.

So Munchman it is, I'll play it on the real iron with F18A, so 60Hz. -
Nice idea! I don't think I'm that good in most games, BUT, if Q*bert comes into play. Bring it on.

VERY nice! Although I don't speak a word Italian, your page/archive rocks! My browser translates it to Itenglish, which is good enough.

midi module or synthesizer connected to the TI-99/4A
Dexter replied to Dexter's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
No, I didn't, I don't feel confident enough to try and make the cable and try it on the nanoPEB. -

Just beautiful! Indeed, the Amiga mouse pointer is pretty recognizable. Is it all assembly, or C?
-
Yes indeed, I like it too. Though a little less challenging than Q*bert. I’ll have to try it on the real hardware, that’s always better.
-
Yes indeed, especially the TI version I find so good, fast gameplay and response to the controls. The manual advices to turn the joystick 45 degrees to the left. May be obvious, but it definitely improves playability.

Since I’m into the TI, Q*bert is my absolute favorite game. It’s a pretty difficult game, I think, but not too difficult. With some strategy and tactics, you quickly get better. However, to a certain degree, it also depends on luck, but I find it perfectly balanced. I’ll place a picture of my high score, and I’m wondering what’s yours, if you’re playing Q*bert, that is. For the ones with a fetish, I found some nice resources of Q*bert: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/qbert/qbert.htm In this video, the player gets till level 3, to which I got a few times. Although it’s not for the TI, here is a helpful FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/c64/579218-qbert/faqs/58424
