New adventure game Kickstarter launched - The Forgotten Pyramid

I agree, this was an extraordinarily sophisticated scam, and I have to believe deeper investigation and documentation would have value, particularly for security experts who are constantly trying to stay ahead of these sorts of emerging threats. I'm wondering if a high-level cybersecurity organization might even have an interest in this. Specifically, CISA (The U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency) comes to mind. -
In the past, I've used a Mac app called BiggerPicture to upscale tiny and/or low-res images. The results, IMHO, have been fairly remarkable. I produced some great-looking posters, although those were based on photographs. Not sure how well this app would handle scans of the TI manual covers and if/how it might minimize the moire litho dither issue. Nevertheless, thought I would share the lead to the app in case it helps. Good luck with the posters, Greg. Great idea.

Feedback on gifting TI-99/4A equipment in a Will
jmazzy replied to jmazzy's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Sure, a formal trust would legally ensure an outcome, but in my case, there are no debtors or financial shortcomings involved, and I trust my executor to follow the written gifting plan in the will. I'll plan on gifting it to a specific enthusiast who can give it a good home. I can list this with explicit instructions under the 'specific gifts' section of the will. Thanks, everyone. -
I'm currently updating my Last Will and Testament. Any suggestions on the best way to bequeath my TI-99/4A and all its companion accessories? Left to chance, the equipment would probably end up in second hand store or an auction. I realize it isn't worth much, but like most of us here, I'd prefer to see it enjoyed by genuine enthusiasts rather than recycled or left in a box somewhere. To that end, I'm aiming to add a provision for gifting my TI equipment to some group or a caretaker. Interested in hearing ideas on who and how. (Incidentally, this post isn't meant to elicit concern: I don't expect to be shuffling off this mortal coil anytime soon. I just found my will while going through my lock box recently and realized the address and other items were out of date so it's being modified now.)

TIPI-enabled telnet client for accessing BBS’s?
jmazzy replied to jmazzy's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
@jedimatt42 With the various BBS's up and running, the TIPI TELNET 4A client has been working well and without issue for me. Tonight, I came across an earlier post where you'd said TIPI TELNET 4A client was built with the intention to allow easy access to the PI, but it's certainly been convenient (and fun) to use it for accessing the BBS's. Thanks and kudos for making it available and for the support. 🏆- 16 replies

Heatwave is working perfectly for me now. I turned on ANSI and IBM graphics settings, and it looks great! Thanks. Looks like Fusion is still not connecting.- 16 replies

TIPI-enabled telnet client for accessing BBS’s?
jmazzy replied to jmazzy's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
@Shift838 Thanks. I can connected to Heatwave, although I can't seem to get past the login. I hit the 'L' key for login, then I get the prompt to enter my username, but when I key in my username, I see nothing. When I hit enter, it takes me back to the beginning to (L), (S) or (N) prompt. Fusion isn't allowing connection. (I tested both Heatwave and Fusion tonight with both the TIPI TELNET client and my Mac telnet client.) All just FYI, btw. No need to investigate on my account; I'm just experimenting and thought I'd give an update.- 16 replies

TIPI-enabled telnet client for accessing BBS’s?
jmazzy replied to jmazzy's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
@jedimatt42 I did some additional testing and looks like the built-in TIPI TELNET 4A client is working well for connecting to the various BBS's I've tried today. (.e.g COLDFUSION BBS and two others were accessible without issue. See photo.) I think my previous erroneous attempts were specifically related the FUSION and Heatwave BBS's. With FUSION, I had the address wrong the first few times I tried. Once I switched to 73.136.142.243:9900, I was able to connect fine, although the connection was a bit wonky - it locked up at the login prompt on one attempt and then rejected my password on the following attempt. (A third attempt from telnet on my Mac worked just fine which implies there may be some challenges specific to using TIPI TELNET with FUSION.) As for Heatwave, I still have the same issue as above: the TIPI TELNET client shows 'Connected', but nothing happens beyond that. So maybe the issues I'm seeing are best referred to the sysops: @Shift838 and @InsaneMultitasker: any thoughts on why the TIPI TELNET client might be having trouble?- 16 replies

TIPI-enabled telnet client for accessing BBS’s?
jmazzy replied to jmazzy's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Thank you both for the feedback. In my previous post, I neglected to mention I did try the TIPI's included TELNET 4A client. Each time I tried using it to connect to FUSION or Heatwave BBS's, it appeared to connect successfully but then nothing happened - the system just sat at the "Connected" screen indefinitely. (See photo.) Maybe I'm missing something? After reading this, I downloaded MXT from the TIPI directory at WHTECH. However, each time I try to load it, the load/run seems to begin and then the console just restarted, kicking me back to the startup screen. Again, maybe I'm missing something here?- 16 replies

Is there a TIPI-enabled telnet client that will allow telnet from the TI to a BBS? I did find and try PLATOTerm99, but looks as though that doesn’t work for some folks, apparently due to a console video upgrade? (Others seem to have said an TI console with its original video output runs it just fine.) My console has an F18A, and PLATOTerm99 does run but then just sits indefinitely at the initial splash screen. I know I can telnet, or use web-based telnet, from a laptop. But for the nostalgic fun, I was hoping to access a few BBS’s through the TI console itself. A few years back, I had a UDS-10 attached to my TI was able to use TIMXT for BBS hopping. I enjoyed that. Just wondering if there’s a viable TIPI-ready option.

Thank you for letting us know, Kevan. Very sorry to hear this news. -
I thought I remembered reading in an earlier thread that a simple file/directory copy would do the trick but wasn't entirely sure what needed to be copied. Thank you for the clarification, Beery. Reflashed the SD card to v2.28 then ran upgrade to v2.36 in TIPICFG. No problems. I'm using a Mac so I opted to just SFTP into the Pi (with FileZilla) to do the file copying. @jedimatt42 The new updates look great. I especially liked how quickly and easily v.28 updated to v.36. Thank you for all of your hard work.

My current TIPI software version is fairly old (V2.5, Release Date: 2020-07-12), and I'd like to update it. I'm guessing a fresh rebuild of the SD card by flashing the latest version is the way to go? If so, what the easiest way I can back up the data currently stored on my TIPI? I know the newer TIPI versions include a backup tool, but looks like v2.5 came before that functionality was added.
