New Cartridge-Based System! Jag Shell
Buttons replied to Buttons's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Apparently, you haven't listened to the interview yet. Big developers are on board with it NOW. The systems you mentioned are "dead" as well as already made. THIS IS A NEW SETUP, for fans of old-school. If you don't like that sort of thing, hey--that's you. -

In the interview on youtube, he said indie games would be around $20. What systems are you talking about? There are supposed to be some pretty big guys interested in/and supporting this project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rMPBEbVIgY -
New Cartridge-Based System! Jag Shell

I would have to answer with...CARTRIDGE!!...CARTRIDGE!!...CARTRIIIIIIIIDDGE!! Imagine me saying that in the style of Benny from the Lego Movie when he gets manic about his SPACESHIP!! It's not about hoarding cartridges. It is about the appreciation of an art form. And yes, contemplating man-facilitated solid-state non-spinning things, such as game cartridges, as art should, leads me to wonder and to be curious about existence, ITSELF. Also, could you please define "success"? P.S. You are not bursting MY bubble, as I am completely confident in how I feel about cartridges. :-) -

Thank you for pointing that out, OldSchool. I am new here and thought there was a post about it, but didn't know where it was. I looked through the link you gave and noticed that THIS video that I posted was NOT yet on that thread. I am super-psyched about it because, imo, it has been way too long for no new cartridges!! I am a big fan of the old stuff that you can drop from a building or toast on your campfire and IT WILL STILL WORK! Love the nostalgia. It keeps the "game" in "gaming". It's not about destroying your enemies while you smack-talk them; it's about HAVING FUN. -
We just found this video on youtube about the cart-based system in a Jaguar shell. Way cool and exciting! There will be a gold cart pack-in for preorders, after the system is announced. The video tells a little bit about the system (will play games comparable to Atari-PS1) and then shows a bit of video of work-in-progress of pack-in game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbFjBmVT_J4 Please watch and share your interest to support old school!

How about another suggestion for Wonderboy III Monster's Lair? -
It was hard choosing for me between Pac-Man for the VCS and Super Pac-Man for the arcade, but I chose "Other" and went with Super Pac-Man. That's the game I've been able to get the farthest in! I do like, however, how VCS-Pac-Man sounds like he says, "F*ck you ups" as he eats the nasty ghosts...big lebowski style.

Suggestion for Afterburner II...is that okay? Note to self: Be sure to check end dates of games more than once!!! I just played Cotton thinking today was the last day to submit, when in fact, it was actually YESTERDAY. I guess my subconscious was playing an April Fool's joke on me. That was NOT nice. -
I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!! I don't know if that many words could show up well, but I hope someone picks up the challenge for you! And I hope your nongamer girlfriend will have the patience to play and beat the first level without cursing and throwing the joystick at the screen before she gets your message! Because that would suck. I wish you well!

Hello! I am new to the forum, and was just wondering if I can compete in this (I haven't participated in any of the previous rounds)? I have Galaga '88 and would love to beat the devil! P.S. I DID locate the rules...and I read them...and I would not recommend going on bing and typing "what is point scumming"... ...and yes, that is a quiet admission to my naivete... -
From the album: Score!

This idea sounds fun! Great for get-togethers. And THIS idea sounds very good to you!! :-) That is EXACTLY what I would do if I had the fundage.

I really like the idea of this game!! I loved playing Memory when I was a kid. It was cool because if my sister didn't want to play with me, I could play it by myself, and STILL make my brain bigger! (I'm not really being scientific, or anything... ) It seems like it would be an excellent boardgame for old-school gamers...and even a reason to do some extra VCS playing to try to identify the pairs in their home games! Because of the difficulty of matches not being identical pairs, in that they require knowledge of Atari games, I think it would be excellent for the older groups of people, and not for children. Unless, of course, you've properly reared your children with the Atari as their babysitter... And I respect the idea that if frog-squishing or pixel-humping offends you, then you can just pick those cards right out of the game pieces and do away with them. I, personally, have done that myself for a children's game that included cards with information on them that I thought inappropriate for my children. Excercise your rights with products you buy! I think an excellent kid-version of the game, or perhaps a different "Difficulty" version, would be to have identical matches (with no nudity, of course). The artwork is too beautiful and the gameplay too timeless not to be appreciated by all! (and by "all", I mean "most", and by "most", I mean "by those who would appreciate it")
