  2. What is a Super Game Cartridge? I thought it just meant that it was an SGM game.

The Super Game Cartridge is more than that. It is an Opcode's exclusively and improved PCB, that's why we have features like saving highscores.

  3. And how would the SGM allow you to save high scores? All it offers is extra RAM and an MSX sound chip. :)

Actually it is the Super Game Cartridge that allows that, not the Super Game Module. They are complementary, and you will see that SGC feature in action once we release Gradius, and of course with almost every single arcade port after that, as well as some adventure games.

  4. GRAZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HELLO GUYS, I'M HERE!
I'm still discovering this whole forum thing so I was not receiving the notifications about this thread and today Ed woke me up saying "Baby, thousand fans are requesting you at AA, they want existential answers!" and I was like  WHAT?! :-o hahaha But here I am. | :)

I answer this and I get in trouble with Grazi. So I better steer away and leave to her... :P

    Graaaaaziiiiii!!!

Yes, husb! You have to focus only on coding games and loving me. =P

Besides, my arcade todo list is already full. For any new game to get it, some other must get out.

Indeed, our game list for 2016/2017 is mostly full, and to put a new game on the list means to take off one game, but anyway it's always good for us to see what game you guys are interested in, sometimes I receive emails from people saying "Do you have plans for game 'X'?? because i'd love to see this game in Coleco/Intellivision, it's part of my childhood, etc." and it's really nice to read that stuff, it guides us for what you like most. =)

  5. I'm not in a hurry (yet) for DK Arcade, but if coding is only 70% done, can I ask why pre-orders were being taken earlier this year? Why is money required to program the game? I thought the pre-orders were required for materials.

On January 1st we opened the pre-orders of Penguin, Gradius and Donkey Kong, and the estimated release date as August. To guarantee our quality (offset printed boxes, labels and manuals, a new model of box, etc) we have to send at least 3 games together to the printer, that's why we opened the 3 pre-orders together, it's a BIG cost! After that, we had to REFUND people, so the money we had to print the materials was gone. Not to say that we have the cartridges to take care of.

Plus that, Ed is ADDING FEATURES that will be revealed soon! Your waiting will be worth it! ;)

  6. Let me start by saying, that I know it is pretty much an unwritten rule to post only supportive positive comments.

    However...

The above post I quoted of yours pretty much says the game is done, and that you just need to do the box.

This game was according to you at MGC 2010 when I met you in person was going to be ready for beta testing by June. That is over 6 year now.

Is there anyway you can put everything else on the back burner and get this finished, so that it can at least get shipped in time for Christmas?

If you agree with me please post a positive comment for Opcode stating that you would appreciate him making DKA release a priority.

The post doesn't say anywhere that the game code is done, and like I said in my last post, it's around 70%.

Since the January 1st of this year Opcode has a new face, a new workflow, everything changed, we set up a new schedule (that is on our website) and some games had to come first. We are on the final details of Penguin and Gradius now, we shipped all the 2nd run of SGM, there's a 3rd run coming soon, so Ed had to focus on these things and we decided to move the DK to December.

We know you guys are waiting for DK, and we will not disappoint you, but please understand that there's a new Opcode now and it takes time to rebuild it and put things back on track, but we are getting there! ;)

You can follow our schedule at www.opcodegames.com

  7.

My guest would be to go over to the website and at the very bottom sign up for their newsletter: http://opcodegames.com/

I'm pretty sure once pre-orders are open, a blast email will go out to their newsletter subscribers. I'd also recommend following their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/opcodegames/

You are completely right, as soon as we can we will open the pre-order for Donkey Kong, meanwhile we have a waiting list here: http://opcodegames.com/games/dk.html, please subscribe and you wont miss a thing about DK! I can tell you that the packaging is almost done and the code is 70% done too. Definitely DK rocks!

  8. Hi,

I have googled and searched. I can pre-order a SGM but where do I get a cartridge?

    Thanks

Hi, Opcode Games have 2 games in pre-order, Penguin and Gradius. Feel free to visit our website www.opcodegames.com or to contact me by email. Thanks.

  9. A surprise game this year, The Maze of Galious (Knightmare II) is coming from Opcode Games for the ColecoVision Super Game Module! :lust:

Maze Of Galious is regarded as one of the greatest games for the MSX home computer, being released in 1987. While most of the console and home computer games back then had very simple gameplay, quite similar to arcade games, Maze of Galious was an epic action adventure. It mixed the mechanics of platform games with the exploration of huge maps. It required several hours to complete, a task nearly impossible to do in a single gaming session. The game concept can be best described as a mix of classic Zelda and Metroidvania.

In this game you can select between Popolon (the knight from Knightmare I) and Aphrodite (the princess in distress in Knightmare I). They now must save their yet to be born son Pampas from Galious, the evil priest who kidnapped Pampas from heaven.

This game is huge, more than 300 screens, a large main overworld with 10 smaller worlds inside it, each world governed by a major demon. The game still includes more than 60 minor demons and 50 items with different functions. Popolon and Aphrodite have different abilities too and can use many different weapons.

The SGM version will replace the password system with in-cartridge saves, using the Super Game Cartridge save capabilities.

The Maze of Galious is planned for August/September, and will be offered as a limited Special Edition and also as a regular editions. Details to come. ;-)
