Not too long ago I didn't even own a heavy sixer. First I found my keeper and then quickly stumbled across two more. One I bought for the sears controllers it came with (my keeper is a tele-games) and the other I found on craigslist and grabbed for the CX-10's. I'm selling one of the two here (buyers choice) along with a pair of original CX-10's, Paddles, driving controllers and a few games. Auction started at 99 cents with no reserve and free shipping! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 301710555850

No, they are different. Paddles are two to a port and have only 180 degrees (or is it 270?) of motion. Driving controllers are individual (one per port) and have 360 degrees of motion. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong but they aren't interchangeable and I'm not even sure if there is more than one game that uses driving controllers.

Since everybody else is throwing suggestions out there on which ones to grab, I'll list the ones that I think I see in the picture that I would recommend: Chopper Command Carnival Mouse Trap Space Shuttle Defender Warlords (you'll need two sets of paddles to play 4 player but its a BLAST if you do!) Cosmic Ark (I haven't played this on a real console yet but its pretty fun in stella)

For .99 each I would go in there and grab one of everything I didn't already have! I think the cheapest my local store has any carts for is $2.95 (maybe there are some $1.99 but I don't think so) and they go up from there.

These are sold.

It's absolutely true. The original version of the FB 2 has the pin locations as well as a screen printed label for a cart connector on the mother board. If you solder on a cart connector you can play just about any cart since the FB2 is basically an "Atari on a chip". Instructions on how to do it can be found with a quick search. I was going to go this route and then realized that it was probably just a hair outside of my skillset. I'm glad I went real hardware instead! The FB2 joysticks are great repro-ish of the CX-40s to. -
I work in A/V so I'm quite familiar with signal types. If an RGBS monitor was easy to find in a 27" size I would gladly do so. I'm not sure about your assertion that an RGBs->component video (colour space) conversion is as simple/lossless as you describe. If that's true than I'm glad to hear it but I would like to hear others confirm that the conversion is indeed THAT clean because I love my 27" CRT that I use for retro gaming and it has component video but not RBG input.
-
I just noticed there is a component video add-on option to the 2600RGB. Can either of you comment on that, how it works, and how good the result is compared to rgb? I have a CRT with component video and not rgb so using that would save me from trying to find a pro video monitor or figuring out how to connect an arcade monitor to my consoles.

Well that didn't work and maybe made it worse. I bought a new 4050 chip and swapped it. I won't discount the possibility of me having screwed something up during the removal or having a bad solder. The original behavior remains and now the right joystick port repeatedly fires.
-
Thank you for the response. I'm looking at my pictures and I can't tell, is that normally a socketed chip or will I have to de-solder/solder it? I guess its only 16 pins so not as bad as some of the larger chips and the spacing isn't too tight. How confident are you that its the fix? Thanks!

I was doing a thorough cleaning on a Heavy Sixer I just picked up and I know I tested paddles and joysticks in both ports previously but I can't remember exactly what I'd done between it working and it not working. I originally tested the paddles on both ports using Warlords and they worked fine. I'd already cleaned it so if I opened it up and put it back together I'm can't remember why. I then proceeded to clean the new paddles that came with it and when I put them all back together the paddles wouldn't work on the left port. When plugged into the left port neither paddle causes any motion when moved, the fire button for player 1 works and the fire button for player 2 seems permanently engaged. I tried the paddles in my Vader and they worked fine and a known good set of paddles showed the same behavior on the heavy. I tried swapping the RIOT and TIA chips one at a time between this unit and an as of yet untested unit but one of them exhibited the same behavior and one of them just gave me a black screen (unfortunately it was late last night and I can't remember which). I also tried checking the port itself and I can't see any visible issue where its soldered to the board, no pins look loose, I don't see any cracked solder and there doesn't seem to be any play when I attempt to wiggle it. The only obvious issue is that the ribbon cable going between the two boards is starting to separate but it still seems to be working and I wouldn't think that would cause this issue since the joystick ports and main guts of the unit are on the same board. Any thoughts? Anybody seen this before? Any suggestions on how to go about tracking down the problem? I two Sears heavys, a Vader and a 4 switch woody available for testing or swaps as needed. Thanks!

I just acquired a set of Atari 2600 CX-10 joystics with hex disks still attached. The black on the disk is rubbed off a lot on one and a little on the other. My primary unit is a sears heavy so I'd love to have a pair of the CX-10's with the sears hex disk. Anybody want to trade? Edited to add: I attached a picture of the handles with the hex disks. I took the entire joysticks apart for cleaning last night and they were still laying out to dry when I went to bed. I'll include more pictures and assembled pictures this evening.

Tim, I see you have the instructions up now (although only 4-switch. I'll need the 6) and I'm curious, is there an easy way to do this without wiring anything to your joystick connections? I'd really rather leave those alone and I have no intentions of adding any buttons to them. Thanks!

If anybody wants the entire lot I'll do $50 + shipping.

Updated with prices since nobody wanted to make me an offer.

Atari 2600 won't display on modern TV (with or without VCR)
Mitkraft replied to Rajada's topic in Atari 2600
Since you haven't said it implicitly I want to make sure you are aware: The Atari does not output a "video" (composite) signal. You can't just plug it to an input an expect it to work. The Atari is set to either output to RF channel 3 or 4 (NTSC/Analog) so its has to be connected to the Antenna input on the VCR or TV and that device has to be set to channel 3 or 4 depending on your setting on the underside of the Atari. Many new TV's don't even have an NTSC (analog) tuner and can only tune ATSC (digital) channels. These TV's would not be able to tune to the Atari's channel 3/4 at all without an external demodulator/VCR. You might already know this but aside from using the word "demodulator" your description skips over saying anything specifically about tuning to a channel. -
Nice = has a nice personality Which you know it must because that thing is UGLY!

Seriously. I'm dying to place an order for one of these + an SMSFM mod. Will these be 100% ready for prime time when you start offering them or is there any reason to wait? Is that still going to be tomorrow? Will your site handle whatever discount I might get in shipping for ordering them both at the same time? Thanks!

Does this auction is worth? (ColecoVision & A26 Jr mega pack)
Mitkraft replied to MSd7342's topic in Auction Central
Does look like a pretty neat lot. I'm no expert on value but I'd say its easily worth the current high bid. The shipping looks reasonable to me. That wooden cart box with the slot in the middle for manuals is freaking heavy. I just got a lot last week that had the one very similar to that with the manual slot at the end and I was shocked at how heavy it was. Also, here is my unsolicited advice. I personally wouldn't post on a forum dedicated to the types of items in the auction you are interested in bidding on. You could cost yourself some money by gaining a few more bidders. Unless of course its your auction in which case I've seen that movie to -
I am so sorry for being so delinquent posting these. Manual and cart pics as requested.

Do a forum search here on "Buddybear" and you will see plenty of opinion on him and his auctions.

Subscribed because I want to know if you sell that Tivo. I have 4 HR10-250's in the closet gathering dust.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread

I had a decent thrift shop pickup today. I actually didn't give it a second thought but it caught the wife's attention. I haven't ever had my own guitar hero or rock band type game before. I thought it might be fun for parties and when friends are over. All of it was in a box for $45.
