Funny you should say that. I was driving to work a while back and this ahole in a heavy duty pickup changes lanes right on top of me. I lay on my horn change lanes and pull up beside me and holler and him nearly running into me and he hurls a slew of nasty obscenities at me all while his not too young to understand kid is in the back seat. I made note of the company on the side and looked them up when I got to work. Looked at the “about” page and it turns out the guy was the president or something or other. It was also located in our small quakertown. I used the “contact us” page and wrote out how I was disappointed the president of the company would not only behave like that while in a company vehicle but with a kid in the car no less. I made sure to recount the situation in the form. I know in companies of even moderate size those forms are at least seen by a few other people so I at the very least hoped to cause him some professional embarrassment.

Oh man that brings back some memories. I worked QA for Compaq for a couple of years and spent the last year or so in the Deskpro division although it was during the PIII years and not when this baby was made. I imagine a good chunk of that cost is going to be shipping so this doesn’t sound like a bad deal. I have a slightly later deskpro sitting in my closet waiting for me to rebuild one day. GLWTS!

My wife and I still find occasion to use the phrase "I must be in the front row!"

Y'all don't find this sketchy? Dude says he loves reading the forums but only just joined the day he posts to sell a fairly uncommon high-ish priced item? And then throws out a phone number in an open forum? I must be a cynic.

Arent those actually the step up from the luggables (that had the green CRT monitors)? I thought that form factor was the lunch kit. My dad had the Compaq version of that when he upgraded from the Compaq portable 286 (which I always called luggable) for his stage Midi computer. He was using these pretty late in their lives because laptop capable Midi wasnt yet available or affordable. The Compaq lunch kit had a full ISA slot for the midi card. I second the kudos for having some cool vintage stuff in fantastic condition!

I just can't feel comfortable buying SD cards from unknown sources. Too many fakes plus there is the risk of malware when coming from certain places. I know these are so small that having the size faked is unlikely but I still wouldn't risk it.

I second the boiling connector trick. I had an NES that I bought at a garage sale for 3 bucks untested. It looked like it spent time in an outdoor storage shed. Cleaned it up, boiled the connector, cleaned all all my carts and it works flawlessly.

I think more likely the seller lacks a sense of right and wrong.

Thrift store games for sale - console and computer games
Mitkraft replied to FujiSkunk's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Your impression of him is correct. I've met with him in person for a few transactions as well as seen him at a few of the Houston Arcade Expos where he does a great job of promoting both vintage consoles and computers by bringing much of his own gear to be enjoyed by Expo partrons. I've never seen him be anything but personable and friendly. I hope he is indeed just busy and that everything is ok. I'll keep and eye out and maybe try to reach out to him if he's MIA here for too long. -

Ads like that are sort of like personals for idiots. I think if it as one very lonely idiot desperately seeking another. Do you like Piña Coladas? -
I must have an unusually good local post office and UPS guy. Ive had very good luck with them. Now Fedex and DHl is a whole other story.

MASK was my time frame also. I had the Ford Bronco Jackhammer. -
Pretty nice setup. Those are what we had for computer science class in high school. We learned pascal, hypercard, and a couple other programs I'm forgetting. We didn't have all the peripherals you do though, just the main unit. You had to remember to save your work often because they would sometimes spontaneously reboot. They were already getting long in the tooth by that point.

Aww man I know that sucks but the good news is if you are patient it’s not that hard to find another for free. Keep an eye on Craigslist and curbs on garbage day. I finally swore off hoarding CRTs and only keep one in my console game rack, one monitor on my 8-bit computer desk, and the two in my arcade machines. Now flat screens is another story. I actually have a couple more than I have use for (there is one in nearly every room) because I can’t stop finding them for free. -
Man those fish looks awesome! I love me some fresh fish. I guess those come pre-frozen though..lol.

Yes sir indeed. Now don’t get me wrong, Kelly LeBrock from the movie was first and best, but Vanessa as the TV show version was none to shabby. I think that was the first place I noticed her even though I had seen a handful of the shows she was in before that. She was the only redeeming quality of Kingpin for me. I didn’t much like the movie otherwise.

You’ve pretty much given me all the info I need to know what we still call people like yourself.
-
So since CL is a user moderated community and someone flags a CL ad for violating posting rules you somehow have issue with that? We have entirely differing ideas of what’s dumb but given your choice of avatar I shouldn’t be surprised by your judgement.
-
It’s against CL rules to not post a price or to post a bogus price (like $1). I hate it because it makes searching difficult if I’m searching or sorting by price.
-
Shouldn’t marketplace posts be for actual buying and selling and not trying to “school” us?
-
Should be flagged for not putting a price and fishing for offers.

SOLD: AV Famicom with Everdrive N8 (delete)
Mitkraft replied to zetastrike's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Dang what a great deal! You basically paid for an everdrive and got a Famicom for free! -
I dug the TV show quite a bit. Vanessa Angel as Lisa didn’t hurt either.

Dudes got an old school rotary phone and a coupler modem. That's hella cool! Reminds me of War Games.
