Get the 1040ST for use (play) now.
Keep working on the 520ST, too.
You will have your cake and eat it too!

Nice!
I need to find a reason to bring my STacy to work!
-
I bought my STacy 4/40 used in 1991 for $400, the price was steeply discounted because the HDD had died. I actually lugged it back and forth to work. Back then, I was the only person at work with my own computer.

I'm guessing:
a full height HDD bay for MFM interface drives.
Adaptec 4000A MFM to SCSI bridge board
Berkeley Microsystems SCSI to ACSI host adapter.

Yep! Looks like there is a cardboard shipping protector!
I'll search for the service manuals online.

Cool, thanks for the recs:
1) spin the belt
2) first diskette in should be one I'm willing to lose.
Did I read somewhere that I need to have the PSU plugged into the 1050 before plugging the PSU into the electrical outlet?
Any thing need sewing machine oil or similar?
:-)

The ICD SCSI host adapter, AdSCSI Plus provided RTC for my 1040STFM from 1989 onward.

I purchased my STacy in 1992 and my STacy is still my favorite Atari! I still get a kick out of using my portable ST!
I don't think the "blue" screen will be an issue for you. My brain, just sees it as monochrome.

When evaluating options to replace the HDD in my STacy, I chose the SCSI2SD. I looked at the Aztec Monster CF SCSI adapter but it requires Parity. The STacy's host adapter does NOT provide parity. So, I chose the SCSI2SD. Working great for over a year now.

That's a Falcon 030. I have one similar. Mine was stock. 4 Meg's with 80? Meg HDD and a dongle for the carltridge port. The difference from Atari factory is the paint job.
I'd like a twin for mine if you ever want to sell it. 😄

Update: Had a very busy weekend, so I didn't get a chance to use the STacy much. I rescued a 2013 60" TV from the garbage. Replacing the board on that took away some of my time that I wanted to spend with STacy. I'm leaving for the Englishtown, NJ Swap Meet now, and I will no doubt be looking for more Atari products.

But before I leave, I want to let all of you know that, I did test the floppy drive and it works 100%. I put sysinfo.prg on the HD and ran it. Here's what it said:
Hi Zap!
If you repaired a TV you certainly have skills but I want to send a few pics of some hidden bits.
1) I think it was Darklord, who helped me by telling me that you DO NOT have to remove the hinge screws. The wire harness screws yes / hinge NO. That old hinge is tightly wound to hold up the heavy screen.
2) Location of the tabs on the lid to press with your spudger.

Thanks, so centre negative as the Stacy says; that's what I thought, just wanted to confirm. Hell of a typo on the power supply though! 16v is interesting; Stacy says 18v and the PSU says 16.5.
Very scary label typo!
I have three more STacy PSU's. I will test all three and report back.
-
Picture of my STacy PSU with multimeter reading -16v with positive lead in center position. Which appears to be the opposite of its own label.Yep but the label on the external PSU has the opposite opinion on the polarity to the label on the bottom of my STacy, and a slightly different voltage too.
My STacy label says center is Negative.
Pics attached.

ZAP, Thanks for your advice.
A forum user I respect suggested I post here and Atari-Forum initially and then eBay.
Glad to know, I have under priced this STacy. I will look to posting on eBay and then post in AA market place.

Three things:
1) If you have an eBay account, why not just put it up there? You can easily get $450+ for what you describe.
2) The last one on eBay (that I bought for $312) was NOT listed as "non-working" as you put it, but "untested" instead, which is a huge difference.
3) The Marketplace section on AA is right here, and gets a lot of daily visitors. Good luck with your sale!

For Sale:
Fully functional STacy 2 upgraded to 4mb memory and 170 mb HDD, US TOS 1.4. The upgrades were done prior to my ownership. Additionally, the current floppy is supposed to be a 1.44 epson mechanism. It has a light face. I was planning on changing this to a black faced Sony model 920, the original STacy floppy cable has a twist and requires no driv . e select change. I will include this for the new owner. The screen is dim but usable.I have attached some photos here and have more on dropbox for your review.

The last US sale on eBay was for $312 for a non-working STacy without a power supply.
I am asking $350 for a working, upgraded STacy with a power supply and a spare Sony floppy drive.

Once again, I think you're right. I use long dupont cable (pin to pin) to build this custom made connection. I will short them, and build a small adaptor, to use a flat rubon cable.
But, once driver is loaded, I play with files : copying severals directory over partition, and I did not see any corruption. Only this damn no boot.
Another point is only ICD Driver can it. HDDriver 6.0 and scsitool don't see any HD attached. Maybe only ICDPro support ICD adapter....
Hello Cristohpe,
Any updates? Any chance you tried this with HDDRIVER 9? Did the external ASCSI port work with the micro adscsi attached?

Hello Fellow Atari Fans!
I have more than a dozen internal, 32x SCSI CDRom drives. These are Teac Model CD-532S with a black faceplate. They were pulled from working systems. I can include the stand-off brackets if you desire. I have tested these to ensure they read a commercial software CD.
I also have a working SF-354 in it's case but without cable and power supply. (reads/writes/formats without difficulty)
I have two internal Single Sided Chinon drives - but both need drive belts.
I would like them all to find good homes.
I would prefer to trade these for Atari Hardware bits and pieces that you may have. My interest is in fair trades.
As a point of reference, the last one I sold on Ebay was for $15.50 and the buyer paid shipping. I welcome offers.
I am currently refurbishing a STacy and a 1040STE.
Please offer items you think may be helpful. For Example, I need a floppy cable to connect to a Cosmos Ex.
I look forward to speaking with you.
Thanks,
Bama

@Bama: First off, a Sparc notebook is pretty damn cool. Secondly, he mentions that some Apple notebooks use this adapter, but does not mention which (darn it.) Lastly, my interest right now is only curiosity -- I would like to see a 2.5" IDE with a SCSI adapter on it, but right now I do not have a practical purpose for it. (Although, it might fix my problem with Solaris 8 panics using a 128GB IDE SSD...)
I have created a gallery of photos to share.

There are caveats for MSTE & Stacy with an Atari internal SCSI adapter when using the SCSI2SD products as a result of the limits of the Atari SCSI adapter.
Git Hub link for SCSI2SD page: https://github.com/rabbitholecomputing/SCSI2SD
Atari MEGA STE needs J3 TERMPWR jumper 1GB limit (--blocks=2048000). The OS will fail to read the boot sector if the disk is >= 1GB.I struggled with this when I installed SCSI2SD into my Stacy.
