Hi guys. I'm pretty excited this week as it's the first time since 1993 that I've bought some Lynx stuff!
My Lynx now resides at my parents house so occasionally when I visit I dig it out and give it a go. The first problem I have is that my power cable doesn't work anymore so I have to use batteries. The second and main problem though is the screen is very washed out. I don't know if my eyes were better when I was younger or the screen has degraded but it certainly doesn't look like how I remember it. I had a brilliant idea to search the web to see if anyone had managed to replace the screen on the Lynx. This was about two years ago and luckily for me the thread where Candle had demonstrated this came up. This led me to this forum and I must say I was surprised (and happy) to see people that still cared about the Lynx.
I kept an eye on this forum and saw that McWill had produced a new replacement screen. Seeing the photos and videos of this new screen really reignited my interest in the Lynx. I got a couple of the replacement screens but haven't done anything with them yet as I haven't been back to my parents. I'm worried I might break my Lynx whilst upgrading the screen so I bought a spare new one! Here it is:
Of course I need a new power supply to power my new Lynx so here it is:
with a spare
these are new as well.
The Lynx came with Batman Returns and the Chess game. I already had Batman Returns but I've never played the Chess game before.
Todd's Adventures in Slime World was the very first game I had (along with the California Games pack in) and I would say one of my favourite games of all time. The sense of adventure was immense and I loved the multiplayer on it although I only ever managed to play with two other people. Anyway I thought I should get a second copy of it. My neighbour had Chip's Challenge and I borrowed it a couple of times and loved it but never managed to buy it. I borrowed Bill & Ted's Excellent adventure from someone at school but they wanted it back before I had time to play it that much but from what I remember I really enjoyed it so got that as well.
It was really weird pulling the wrapper off the Lynx games but brought back all the memories. It was brilliant.
Anyway, next time I'm back at my parents house I'll get out the old Lynx and attempt to replace the screen. I'll also get a few more photos of my collection. It's not very impressive compared to some I've seen on this forum but it was bought with pocket and paper round money with Christmas and Birthday presents thrown in!
Oh, and the last thing I bought back in 1993 was Dessert Strike. It arrived in the post from Telegames completely flat with the box completely crushed but I wasn't bothered, it was amazing and I was late for school that day!
