Applewriter and IIc

Hello, this is my first time posting on AtariAge in awhile. I just got an Apple IIc with a lot of software, I was playing around with Applewriter II, but how do I save? I don't have a second disk drive, but according to the manual I don't have to. It doesn't tell me how to save files though. I take out the Applewriter II disk and put in my formated blank disk that I was able to save programs on and try to save and it either does nothing or says "disk full", when it clearly IS NOT full because I had just formatted it. If someone could help me figure this out, it'd be much appreciated.
