Hey all! I am going to be involved with vintage videogame collecting FOREVER. And not just Intellivision, but ALL the old systems. And over time I'll move to newer and newer systems as they become "old" systems. That's what I do and I have fun doing it. Crash, no crash (whatever that is) is irrelevant. I'm about loving the nostalgia and collecting for my own personal pleasure. It is fun to share with others that have similar interests but that is not my primary driver. So, again, KEEP MAKING MORE QUALITY GAMES!

Part of what makes some of us have negative feelings toward the "community" can be traced to some practices that are, though legal and generally accepted, have some negative elements. For example, I believe that there have been Intellivision related creations for the purpose of personal enrichment at the cost of the Intellivision collecting community. But, I can't PROVE that is the case. We could pick any collectible and claim it was manufactured merely as a money making scheme at the expense of completionists. And, for self evident reasons, it cannot be argued that the original intent of most manufactured/created products was not to enrich the creator. That is most often why people make things and sell them. But there is a "seemingly" malevolent leap from normal capitalism to some sort of exploitation of the collector community when, for instance, certain items are created in short supply purposefully. If the intent is to make money then why limit the release? It is obviously to inflate value. Do I have a problem with that? In the end, no. But it can be argued that it IS still a form of exploitation. I just believe it happens to be a reality of any collector community. And also, in the end, I, too, am a capitalist. Make more HIGH QUALITY Intellivision games!

I haven't heard a single person say that they are for stealing someone else's programming and selling it. I have heard people say, as arcade124 quotes the1hatman as saying, that this behavior is not indicative of the community in general, and I agree with that assertion. For instance, I do not believe that arcade124, the1hatman, m-crew, myself, and almost all other members of the Intellivision community would do that. I think some folks here are, by no malicious intent, talking PAST each other. I ask that folks please take into account that communicating in text in a forum makes it difficult to convey emotion, nuance, etc. In this entire episode, the only people I have seen act horribly are those that stole code and are selling it for personal gain. That behavior is despicable. I would like to see them burn the pile of games they created immediately and post the video of it to YouTube. Then, if they ask for forgiveness from the community, perhaps, over time, they can be forgiven. But right now they are uninterested in forgiveness and are flipping us all the bird.

No problem! Thanks for the update. -
I don't have a direct fix for your issue. But if you have another INTV console you can swap parts from the "bad" unit into the "good" unit to see which ones keep the "good" unit from working. This may require socketing ICs in one or both of the consoles. A lot of work, but it can be fun to do.

I remember having to ADD power to the Wico trackball I used for some reason. I added a pigtail with a female jack for power to connect to. I THINK I used an Atari 2600 power supply. Could I be mistaken? Yup. I do NOT remember what all I did to the unit to make it work but it wasn't much. That was 40 years ago. But it did not have all of the Intellivision controller directions (all 16), of course. BUT... Since it was a trackball, it would work in a way that had sort'a unlimited degrees of movement. Rolling the ball straight up would engage UP. Rolling the ball UP and a little to the LEFT would engage UP 100% and engage LEFT sporadically which resulted in a sort'a "skipping" to the LEFT motion while moving UP 100% which resulted in a (mostly) acceptable motion of an appropriate angle (kind'a). The trackball I used was not particularly sensitive.

I did that as a youth. It was an interesting experiment and was fun with Worm Womper. I did this with an Atari 2600 Wico trackball and seem to remember needing an external power supply for some reason.

Well, I was lucky enough to come across a 7800 Harmony 2 or "Concerto" cart. I made some labels for it so I'm sharing them here as a PDF - Atari 7800 Concerto Labels.pdf. Use them if you like them. The cartridge end label can have a slot cut out for the SD card. I just print on paper (plain or glossy, this was on plain) and apply a thin layer of rubber cement to the cart and the labels, let both dry, and then apply label to cart. I press them in place with my hand put I use a clean piece of paper between my hand and the label to keep the label clean. Excess rubber cement can be rubbed away with a clean paper towel after label application and once it is thourouoghly dry. Works fine for me.

FS: Colecovision Console with Intro-Skip BIOS Upgrade

Bump. Please PM to make an offer. -
Well, I totally lucked out and replaced the only bad RAM chip with the first socket I installed. It was U17. Here is a pic of the socketed RAM: I used a spare RAM chip from a console that I performed the 5v RAM upgrade on in the past. It is interesting to me that two different brands of RAM were used on the motherboard previously. It looks like original work so I am guessing it was original like that. Anyone know differently? Here is how the screen looks now:

I recently bought a Wii. It would not read a disc so I opened it up and was horrified to find that it was clogged up with many dead roaches (whole, legs, body chunks). It was SO GROSS I almost tossed it. But I cleaned it out instead. It works fine now. But it was the worst I have ever seen. I think someone had spilled a bit of something in it at one point, too. That might have attracted the roaches. Ick.

Yup. Good ol' soap and warm water. I remove the case parts first. Just don't scrub on any painted areas or decals too much.
