Here in the Sunnyvale, CA area, I remember Atari products being sold at the world-famous Toys R Us in Sunnyvale (the one with the ghost), Sears in Mountain View, and I got a ton of 2600 carts at the Emporium basement sales on the Sunnyvale/Mountain View border. I'm sure there were other places, like the electronics stores and Montgomery Wards in the Sunnyvale Town Center, but those are the places I definitely remember seling Atari products.

Where Did You Get Your First Atari 2600 and What Type Was it?
helmsm replied to TheAtarianGuy's topic in Atari 2600
My first 2600 was a light sixer in the late 70s -
My current count is 175 titles, and 196 total carts (including duplicates). I just picked up 75 carts last weekend, the vast majority are commons with a few I didn't already have, so I still need to go through those and decide what I want/don't want.

I know there were a few games available only through mail order from the Atari Club. Here's what I could think of: - Atari Video Cube (later sold in stores) - Crazy Climber - Quadrun What's the other games? Thanks!

Thanks for all of the help everyone!

Thanks! That's still cool to me if they were used in-house.
-
Thanks for the clarification! Do you mean, internal library carts or demo carts that would have been used in-house at US Games?
-
If anyone has any information on these carts and if they are prototypes, that would be very helpful! Thanks!

Here's pictures from the VC2003 cart (US Games - Eggomania)

Hi everyone! I need help from the experts here! A little history behind these carts... I bought a bag of 2600 carts back in the mid-90s at a Goodwill in San Jose, CA, and in the bag were these two carts. I didn't think too much of them, but tried them out and saw they were Eggomania and Name This Game. Then they sat for 20 years in my collection, not thinking too much about them. In the last year, I've really started back in full collecting mode and thought about these two carts again. I thought, could they be prototypes? I looked up US Games, and they were in Santa Clara, CA (San Jose's neighbor for those not familiar with the SF Bay Area), so maybe they are prototypes that someone had and gave to Goodwill with a lot of other carts, not thinking anything about it. But, I'm not an expert, so here I am. Please help me, let me know if these are prototypes for the two games! I'll include pictures next...

Super Challenge vs Real Sports Football which did you prefer?
helmsm replied to bigfriendly's topic in Atari 2600
Super Challenge Football for me. I had it as a kid, and my brother and I would play it for hours. -
My rarest game is Mr. Do's Castle (8 rarity), loose cart. I got it a few months ago from a guy from Craigslist in a lot of 15 games and a 4 switch woody for $15. Thank you Mr. Random Craigslist guy!

I play on a 37" LCD. It works just fine for me.
