  1. So far I've been enjoying my Atari FBP. Well worth the $32 plus with the SD card I can play almost everything. I wish the fire button was more sensitive, I have to push down squarely on it. It it the same with everyone's FBP? Is it a conductive rubber button shorting two PCB pads? Bill, is there a protective plastic on the grey area by the buttons? Boy was that screen protector on well but finally got it off! Thanks everyone for the compatibility list and renamed rom posting!
  2. Beside the screen protector, is there protective plastic covering on the grey area by the push buttons?
  3. Agree Joe does great work, if you are handy with a soldering iron and drilling your case you can buy the kit from him also.
  4. Contact Joe @ http://electronicsentimentalities.com/Pre%20Modded%20Systems.html He will sell you a nice 7800 pre-modded A/V

  6. So I picked up my FB Portable today and everything appears to work fine. However, I have had it on charge for a couple hours now and the the Charge LED is still red. Does it turn yellow when fully charged like the manual saids? How long does it take?
  7. How do you select built in games versus your games on SD card? Picking my portable up shortly.
  8. Never tried the oven method but it sounds like it works. How long did you have to leave the BallBlazer Board in the oven before the Pokey chip fell out? I am lucky, i have a $1000 Metcal brand Desoldering/soldering station at work that I can use. It can desolder multi-layer boards with thick ground planes. Best Iron I have ever used (I've tried the Hakko' Weller etc.) At home i use a 45W iron with a flat tip and a Solder Pullit manual desoldering pump (both cheap) and some good old solder wick. I am going to try this oven method on a scrap board.
  9. Agreed, I offered to send in my Console for testing and it still stands. Not sure if others are willing to part with their 7800's at least for awhile. I have other systems (only 1 7800) to play while my 7800 is away.
  10. With all the Concerto problems regarding not working on certain consoles, I think we should all be testing it with the same standards. 1) A known good and working romset. 2) An SD card of the correct kind (SD), manufacturer(?) size and speed (class 10?) 3) Same Concerto Bios. Fred, is there any info you are looking for (which games fails and how, what we have installed (ex. LHE board, OEM or 3rd party supply?) that we can provide to help you? What roms are you testing with (any homebrews?) and what SD card do you use?
  11. It is disappointing that the low power Concerto is acting the same Kosmic. I would agree that measuring the 5 volts at the controller port is the same as measuring it elsewhere. There is only one 5 volt regulator in 7800 and if Concerto was loading it down you would see it at the controller port. Looks like Concerto needs more work and testing......... Maybe memory or timing problem?

  16. I would be interested in this in any form. I do like the compact form style of the Walkman. What makes me the most excited is seeing that beautiful HDMI output! Do you have any extra blank PCB's available? I can purchase my own parts and stuff the board myself as well as worry about an enclosure. If no extra PCB's how about sharing files so and individual could have a board made? How many layers is the board? I would also need the core files if you are able to share (sell?) them. I did not see an SD card slot or a header on the board for loading the cores, how did you load them? Going the full manufacturing route can get expensive but maybe offering a PCB and files would allow others (with electronics skills) to enjoy the the hard work you've already put into this!
  17. Well my feedback is just as important as your list of working games. Batari is now aware that on my console SD cards, and current BIOS s on the Concerto do not make a difference. He can look into other things, like he is with the power consumption and timing problems. If he is not able to deal with some feedback on his product he should not offer it for sale . He has been sharing his progress so don't speak on his behalf about being discouraged. If after this Concerto run he decides not to offer WIP devices, them maybe it is for the best. If like myself and Kosmic, you were not able to play a single game on your Concerto, you would be singing a different song. Count yourself as "Lucky" that it works for you. There are a lot of us who would love to use the cartridge to play 7800 games but can't..because for us it just doesn't work! Some of us have more issues than "a few games don't play correctly" ...which I could deal with. Some of us don't have multiple 7800 to try things on. Of all the recent postings you seem to have one of the only one that works. I am sure Batari will get to the root of the compatibility problems. There is only so much i can do to try and fix the compatibility issue, looks like it up to Batari with either hardware or more software fixes. Sorry but for me there has been no fun.
  18. Really, Fun and learning for most? Maybe for you as most of the games work on your console per your other postings. Yeah I learned that no matter what I try (different bios, different SD cards, different roms) it makes no difference! When you have 0% play ability, the only fun I have had is taking the Concerto cartridge out of 7800 and using my rom game cartridges or my Harmory for 2600 games. I agree with Kosmic Stardust 100%.

  20. Batari, I take it you are reading the 9V input current draw not the 5V regulator current draw? Do you see a voltage drop when you plug in your Concerto Cart? You need to do a current draw test with a LongHorn Modified Circuit board installed.
  21. I have tried standard SD cards and SDHC cards of various sizes, classes (speed) and different manufacturers (at least 10) with no difference noted. I have not tried an MMC card. Batari is looking at power issues now, Hope he can find the problem.
  22. Jinks, Have you gone to the Harmony Website? Look under support and check out the manual. There is a complete description on how to load a new BIOS in Harmony.
  23. I am using a Genuine Atari power supply but I do have a Longhorn Engineer Board installed. Batari, so of all the 12 consoles you have, you have had no problems with the Cartridges at all on any of them? What size, type, brand and class SD card do you test them with? I am willing to send you my console if it will help solve the problem. Please check my other PM's to you
  24. We are really limited as to what we can do for troubleshooting and helping. I tried numerous SD card sizes, types and speeds (classes) and tried both of his posted BIOS's. Unlike your problems that appear to be game specific, mine affect all games. I have asked him if I could provide additional information on my system and have heard nothing back. Does he want Board rev numbers or chip manufacturers and date codes? I can send screen shots and will send him my systems, all he needs to do is ask. You are not frustrated as you have 70% play ability, I would die to have that. I have 0% as do others.. Your tune may be different if nothing worked. I do believe Fred will eventually fix the problem. I think he picked a bad time to release those betas he had because of the personal problems at the same time. He should have anticipated lots of questions and problems. He needed to communicate to us his status and that he would get back to us. As I have said before, it was the lack of not hearing back from him in a timely fashion that was frustrating. A quick PM or Post would have eased my mind. Anyways, he has gotten back to me with an alternative so 'nuff said.
