  1. It pains me to do this.

kevin242 aka Kevin Saunders. Quoted me $40 shipping to send a monitor, said it would be sent parcel or priority. Monitor arrives in a box marked 'media mail' for $12.40. Has, so far, refused to refund the difference.

I'm still hoping it's a misunderstanding, and that Kevin will make this right. I'll withhold further personal info for the time being. Further PM's and info available on request.

I'm trying to work this out with kevin. i give him the benefit of the doubt that he had some distraction over the holiday. Will post update on Monday.

  2. i'd be perfectly content with a non-keyboard 5200 clone with built-in games, similar to the fb2 in concept, with exposed pads on the inside for the hobbiests, and the capacity for full A8 compatibility.

if i had my druthers, i'd add to that new graphic modes, or maybe new graphic/sound modes + turbo.

for a fb4, i'd welcome an ST clone in a box. While I believe the FB3 could be a commercial success, i have my doubts on the ST.

  3. Went over my budget, unfortunately. I'm in California, but I've lived in Germany for years.

Where do you come from, Joe?

  4. Atari 400 w/ 48k preferred, but not necessary.

    Box and docs are appreciated.

Doesn't have to be perfect, but should clean-up, and not be missing any parts or permanently modified (i.e. holes for switches.)

    Thanks all.

  5. Yes - one of my favorite hangouts. Mall of Independence, Independence, Missouri, pre-82.

Who here remembers the chain of arcades known as Aladdin's Castle? I do. I played at one a few times at a mall in Martinsville, Virginia (at least I think it was there in Martinsville). I think the chain has been since acquired by Namco. Whether or not the name is still used I don't know.

I remember once in an Aladdin's Castle, I found a Spy Hunter machine and pulled off a trick I heard from someone. I actually broke the accelerator pedal on the game to go faster. This did catch the attention of some of the staff there who were pointing and looking at me. It was during a commotion that broke out elsewhere that distracted them long enough for me to leave the arcade and I haven't been back since. ;)

  6. Works great but the joystick sucks. You won't be playing Decathlon on it. The new joypad version GP2X probably fixes that.

Agreed, the GP2X could have been great if the thumb stick thing didn't suck so badly, and the TV out is in some really strange aspect ratio and poor quality IMO

Hopefully the new GP2X - f200 will fix the problem with the stick.

And Stella on the GP2X is easy to use

I think you can run emulation on the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP as well. I have the PSP -- it's a nice piece of kit.

  7. Hi guys, Vista actually does not have a telnet client. MS did not include Hyperterminal with Vista, which was the default telnet client for XP. However you can simply copy Hyperterminal from an XP installation and it will work just like it did with XP. You can also download a free version of the Hyperterminal from Hilgraeve Inc.

    Atari8Warez

seriously? if you type telnet in a shell, you get an error?

  8. I used to use Tone Loc religiously. That was a program I mastered back in the day. I even modified the connection script a bit to try "root/root" to find any system dumb enough to leave that login in. It worked..on a few systems.

What I wanted to see was an updated version of it, and I sketched out an improved version of it(conceptual), but never got around to making it. Probably a good thing since it would have gotten me in trouble.

check out THC-Scan -- the successor to tone loc?
