  1. I located this in 7.14 seconds, because my modem is being slow today:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ce&s=videogames

    :D

    Edit:

Over Thanksgiving, I was stranded at my grandmother's house with nothing to play except my cousin's Game Boy Colour...

    I played "DivaStarz". :woozy:

At least the *NSync game had a little gameplay... :ponder:

Luckily, it was made up for by going to FunSpot the next day and playing their 200+ classic games all day. :D

  2. You are bidding on a fully authorized (produced by Atari Corperation) complete 1991 Atari 2600.

That's the trick! It's a pirate company! Because he spelled "corporation" with an E!

    ...

Or maybe he just can't spell. :ponder:  ;)

  3. If I may add another question to the thread...

Why do we call it Air Raid?  As far as I know, no title appears on the cart nor on the screen.  Has anyone seen a box?

    Well...

Finally, by researching the public record of usergroup pastings (Now available through Google Groups) I tracked down another collector who claimed he found the first discovered copy of Air Raid. Via email, he informed me that he found his copy in a thrift store in California, and the only way he knew the title of the game is because "Air Raid" was printed on the box! Additionally, he recalled having read from the box that the company, Men-A-Vision, was also located in California. His is the only known boxed copy of the game in existence, as far as I know. I tried for years to get him to scan the box but to no avail. He dropped out of the active collecting scene years ago, and all his games are scattered in staorage locations he's just too busy to go looking through. Eventually, his email address changed and I have since lost contact with him.

    That's how. :ponder: :D

  4. Assuming you downloaded a correct MAME Romset, simply take the .zip file (yes, the compressed version, trust me. :P ), make sure it is called by the name you downloaded it in (if it's called d3f3nd3r-r0x-j00-s0x.zip, then it probably won't work. :P In this case, it should be "defender.zip"), and place it in the "Roms" folder in the MacMAME folder. Now, quit MacMAME if it is open, then reopen it, and voila! Defender should show up in the Romlist, and you can now play it by selecting it and clicking the button. :D

Note: Alternatively, you can use the decompressed version with all the weird file names like "202-c2.bin", just name the folder by the ROM name. So, when "defender.zip" is decompressed, the folder should be named "defender", and placed in the Roms folder.

    Hope this helped!

  5. Hm...I just took out one of my old chanting monk 8-Tracks (That's all you get when you take the player and some tapes from a church that was going to throw them out)...And, they sorta do look the same...Minus the lack of tape!!!!

They have about the same depth to them, but the 8-Track is a good deal bigger. The cart is about the size of the label on the tape.

    Oh well...Silly unknowers. :ponder: ;)

  6. I got my Vader for free, too. Well, technically, it's a "loaner", but, both parties know it's never going to be returned. :D

My step-cousin used to live across the street (before we were related :ponder: ), and when he moved, he left most of his childhood stuff in the basement with the landlord. This summer, he went back and cleaned it all out, and found his old Vader and 7800. I asked him if I could borrow the 2600, and he said I could, because his 7800 was backwards compatible, so I got

    a Vader,

    2 Joysticks,

    a set of paddles,

    Jungle Hunt,

    Carnival,

    Mouse Trap,

    Donkey Kong,

    Frogger,

    Video Pinball,

    Pac-Man,

    Lock'n'Chase,

    Phoenix,

And a partridge in a pear tree.

Okay, maybe not that last one. 8)

But, I was pretty happy...Especially when I got 34 more games for $13.52 a few days later on eBay. :D

I've also heard rumour that he might give me the 7800 for Christmas, since he never seems to play it... :ponder:

  7. Well, "L'" in french is the, I think...So, using the fact that "no" approximately equates to "'s" (showing possession), and Kiseki is Miracle, then we have "The Almanarre's Miracle", or "The Miracle of The Almanarre"

After some searching, Almanarre is an area in South France that is VERY popular in the Wind Surfing crowd, along with some surfers.

It was even a stop on the Professional Windsurfing Association World Cup.

Well, that was fun. Three languages, two countries, and a Google Search in a pear tree. :D

  8. I'll third (I think) the Crazy Balloon idea....Big fan of that one...

Level 23, 79800 is my high score on MAME...

And, the graphics aren't big and complicated, so I wouldn't be surprised if it could be done. It's that sort of game that's elegant for it's simplicity...

*has nightmares about the face* :ponder: :D

    Hmm....

    Zookeeper, definately...

Arabian was a favourite of mine on MAME...

*thinks back to his Thanksgiving FunSpot trip*

Oh yeah! How could I forget! The reason I was making this post:

    Qix!.

What a great game. My new MAME addiction :D
