I'm not sure he has one yet. He was asking me about a trade for one of my NOS FZ-1 units. Why do you need to know about the power supply? I can give you information on all the different models.
-
...the one I have just uses a standard power cord, just like a toaster or PlayStation.
-
.... all in favor of initiating the SNES as being a Classic, say AYE!

The 7800 is classic. First of all, it was the last of the "Coleco-Era" systems. It was released initially in 1984, well before its time. Secondly, it's part of the 2600 lineage... just like the PS2 tends to be grouped with the PlayStation. Secondly... it's 20 years old. There's not much "neo" about it.

I'd love to see pictures of those joysticks if you get a chance to post some.

Those lines are just a little reminiscent of the Jaguar design.

What other cool games do you think you would have liked to have seen built in to the 7800? I always was jealous of the British and wanted a built in game! *shruggs* I have always thought that Food Fight would have made an -awesome- title that could have been built in. Very addictive, very unique, and very fun. It really highlighted what the 7800 was capable of. Just compare the graphics of Charley as compared to those of Mario on the NES. And look at all the sprites that are moving around the screen at one time. So what would you guys have liked to see on there?

I have a box of 7800 NTSC bios somewhere that I have been hanging on to since 1993. I'm goign to take them out and see if anything is any different. Most likely not, but it's worth a shot.

Turbografx: A shoot-em-up fans weapon of choice?
Ferris replied to JagWarlord's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Okay let's keep this simple.... If you want some good shooters, go get yourself a regluar plain TurboGrafx-16 unit. If you have a few extra dollars to spend, get a TurboExpress or a TurboDuo... you'll appreciate it later. There's no need for a SuperGrafx unit or any other Japanese unit, unless you live in Japan. TurboGrafx-16 has some nice shooters. The best of which would be Blazing Lazers. This title really sets the standard on 16-Bit early 1990's shooters. Galaga '90 is a good title too. Start out with those two, grab a copy of Bonk and Bomberman, and then see how you like it. www.TurboGrafx-16.com Good luck! -
How did you pull that off? I have tried both of those in my CDx and I can't get them to work.
-
Ten years ago I got ahold of a Sega CDx, which is basically a "Genesis DUO" ecept about the size of a portable CD player... it's not compatible with the 32x or MasterSystem Converter, but it is an 'all-in-one" unit that is extreemly portable and doubles as a CD player. It's an interesting bit of Sega history, and if you are going to get into the world of Sega CD, it's definately worth a look, even if it does fetch a higher price.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Now I know why Rusniak reneged on the ebay auction I won for this item. There's always an explanation and always someone behind it.... John

Dude the SNES wasn't discontinued in 95... the NES was barely discontinued in 95. Nintendo supported both the SNES and the 64 side by side until at least 1998 or 1999.... you could find new SNES hardware and software on the shelf at toys r us, walmart, kay-bee, and all of the rest of them up through the summer of 2001 at least. While that may be stretching its life in some markets, I'd say a fair estimate of the "discontinuation" of the SNES would be around the turn of the century.
-
Yup... seems to me like the SNES will definitely be worth collecting. First of all, Like Aimee said, you go into a Good Will and you can't even find the SNES. It's going to be a bit harder to locate as compared to the Genesis. That will drive the collectability factor up a bit. Secondly, Sega never worked its way into the heart of the American culture like Nintendo did. When people (in general) see Sonic... they are like "ohh yeah I remember him..he was cool back in the day" ...but when people see Mario, they get all warm and fuzzy inside. Mario is still promoted today on all of the Nintendo formats... Sonic is sorta around but Sega is pretty much gone. Mario's continuing visibility and promotion will keep people interested in Mario and nostalgic for the old Mario games. This is partially what drives the NES collector market right now and will definitely be a factor in collecting for the SNES. The SNES is just cool. Right now I'm after a Super Famicom. (If you want to trade for one, I'd love to, so PM me) but the SNES has a lot of titles that will hold up over time. Pilotwings, Star Fox, Mario Kart, Castlevania, and all of those numerous other titles that stick out from what the Genesis had.

I'm in love with Amy Linker. She knows first hand what Daryl is capable of.

I have been looking into getting one of the JagVR helmets for a few years now. What's dissapointing is that most none of them are a complete set. Oh well, I'd settle for the helmet lol.

It may be crossing that threshold as we speak. They were still selling SNES titles in Toys R Us just over a year ago... usually a system has to be out of the limelight for some time before it can be considered classic. The N64 definately is not classic... but the SNES and Super Famicom? Hmm... the mere fact that we are even discussing this says to me that its certainly at the point where 16-Bit platforms must be looked at in some light as classic. But what defines classic? Some think it is merely age. But no, just because a system is old doesnt mean its a classic... it just means its antique. I certainly dont consider the Fairchild Channel-F to be a "classic" i just consider it to be a collectable. The 2600 on the other hand definately is THE classic. The SNES had to play second fiddle to the Genesis for quite a while, but the SNES had many great titles and enjoyed a HUGE base of dedicated players. That in its self qualifies the system to be a classic, at least in my book.

Yayy! Homebrews at a discount! Count me in!

Are you talking about UFO kidnapped?
-
I call it as I see it. I think they are wrong. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.
-
The Digital Press is wrong. WHAT? ...Yes, it's true kids. The Digital Press is *not* infallible. They actually made what I believe to be an error... or at least a typo. UFO was announced by Froggo. It is a Froggo game. If I am wrong I will eat my words and make a public apology for my arrogant and dismissive attitude towards what the DP says on this matter.

Just out of curiousity... and not to put you down... but why would you want to use a ColecoVision or ADAM controller? ...there are a lot of people out there that dislike the ColecoVision controller even more than they dislike the 5200 controller. Isn't that rather redundant? Or are you going somewhere cool with this? Either way, it's an interesting question to raise.
